RE: bwp: quarrelings - Wraith - Mar 27, 2016

[dohtml]

While Wraith would have loved to give in to the rising bloodlust and shred the fallen pig before him, there was still one left. And while he had dutifully followed out his order from @Morganna to take out the smaller pig, he had not missed the way she'd gone flying. His pig's dying screeches stung at his ears, urging the black male away from her dying body. With the bite Capable delivered, she didn't have a rabbit's chance in a den of a survival. After crunching down on her leg once more for good measure, the wolf released his hold and flew over her body to charge at the last pig left.

Spotting the young pup standing by, he barked out an order to @Niles. While the other wolves were leaping into the fray without issue, the boy seemed to need a bit more direction. "Help me," he growled as he charged by, voice sharp in the heat of the moment. Wraith's fury was at a fever pitch when he saw the damned animal trying to crush @Greer. Hoping the youngster would follow by example, the northerner used every ounce of his momentum, weight, and strength to slam into the boar, teeth searching to find a home in any flesh he could grab as he tried to wrestle the beast off the quiet Archer.  As he was close enough to reach for it, Wraith made a go for the boar's ear. If he could grab it, he had every intention of ripping it clean off.

Wraith has abandoned Helga's body and is charging at Luscious to try and get him off @Greer. If he can reach, he plans to grab the boar's ear.

RE: bwp: quarrelings - Morganna - Mar 27, 2016

With eyes trained on the larger pig she didn't see the grey streak that was @Craw joining the fray, she missed @Isuni going for the creatures throat and @Yvly lending her assistance. Her hip connected with someone briefly as she took a step back but the dense fur spoke friend so she didn't bother turning to see who it was. She was more concerned about the damage one of these things could cause to her pack mates, and so far this larger one was a bigger threat. As the smaller pig squealed she smiled a terrible smile.

One down, one to go.

With the smaller pigs silence, the larger rolled towards her brother. She scooted back, hoping @Greer would be able to get well clear. The target presented was far too tempting with stubby legs and such a round belly. She lunged for the exposed undersides, aiming for the delicate fold of skin where the animals rear legs connected to its stomach, teeth grabbing at wherever they could find purchase. She hoped that was pigs blood she tasted and not her own. If she could make a tear big enough maybe the creature would spill its guts right here? If not well at least the wolves wouldn't go hungry.

RE: bwp: quarrelings - Craw - Mar 29, 2016

They were too much; as the sow shrieked as Craw's teeth dug into her flesh, Wraith worried her ankles and the two women struck from the front. As the pig toppled underneath him, he watched as Capable ripped out the beast's throat, the large woman's efficiency to be admired. The sow's struggles quickly turned into death throes, and then she was finished.

But the fight was far from over. The deeper voice of the larger boar still filled his ears, which was indicative of him being far too alive. As Wraith dashed past Niles, growling something Craw couldn't quite hear, Morganna leapt for the flesh between leg and belly, for the boar had been trying to crush one of them - it was hard to see who. With so many of the pack present, they should make short work of the beast, for together they could overwhelm and rip him apart.

Leaping directly over the limp carcass of the fallen pig, Craw lunged directly at the belly of the pig, jaws wide and ready to grasp and tug and tear with hungry enthusiasm. Together he and Morganna would spill its guts all over the snow - and shock tended to follow soon after. Nothing and nobody coped well for long when disemboweled.

RE: bwp: quarrelings - Greer - Mar 30, 2016

[dohtml]

A final squeal was quickly silenced by the hungry growls of his packmates; the female pig had been defeated. Pride rushed through his veins, fuelling his movements as he continued to snap at the larger pig’s rear. Four had been able to take down the smaller pig — they would need a few more mouths if they wanted to finish this one off. A growl escaped him, calling for his packmates to turn their attack to the male pig; they could feast later. Their attention needed to be focused on the remaining threat as he would be out for revenge now that it's companion had been felled.

The pig had chosen it's target for revenge quickly.

Without warning the pig threw itself in Greer’s direction, clearly fed up with his consist nipping. If the creature landed on him it could end up disastrous: Greer was not in the market for any broken bones. He flung himself backward, ricocheting off the ground and somersaulting away from the rolling monster. Scrambling to his paws his teeth flashed white as another snarl erupted from his throat. Throwing himself at the exposed pig the shadow went for the creature’s throat, his head thrashing back and forth as he hoped to rip tear it out. This vermin would not be leaving the meadow alive: the only way he was going to be leaving was in the stomach of the ridge wolves.

RE: bwp: quarrelings - Isuni - Apr 02, 2016

[dohtml]

The boar never even saw her coming.  Distracted by the other wolves snapping at her legs and flank, Capable was able to slide at a perfect time.  Ivory knives sliced through thick flesh; it was a perfect, precise blow.  If only Arrow could see her now!  A triumphant smile curled upwards as all the power of her jaws snapped down as if in slow motion.  It was only a second, and it was lights out for Helga.  Of course, the female remained attached at the jugular for several seconds, relishing the copper taste blossomed on her tongue as she made certain her mark would not get back up.

Once the body fell, she pulled away, rivulets of blood dribbling from her muzzle.  Eyes were ringed with white, adrenaline coursing through her veins as she scanned the battleground around her.  A step behind the pair of males, the large woman was not slow to lend her assistance to Greer and Morganna.  The yearling had been one of the only wolves to offer any sort of companionship upon joining; she did not even need to rationalize wishing to assist Morganna.

With Craw and the alpha upon the animal’s belly, she sought to assist Greer instead.  He went for the throat, and Capable bounded beside him, teeth gnashing at the animal’s face.  Again, she threw herself directly into the path of danger, but what did not shy away when eyes and ears were threatened?

He had not thought this through. He had not realized his stubby legs would not allow him to get up very easily, and had not calculated how low the probability of every wolf somehow slithering underneath him to be crushed. As it was, he left his underside exposed to the whole lot of him. And the shadow, so nimble, was able to avoid his thunderous weight with ease. So easily it all unraveled before him. It felt kinda funny, funny in a painfully ironic that he could not even really see his own death as it came upon him. It was just a darkness that rushed upon him, more pain that came from his stomach instead of his shoulders. As the lights began to fade he could see the hard, glittering eyes of one of the dogs as it came upon him and buried it's face into his neck.

And that was it.

RE: bwp: quarrelings - Wraith - Apr 04, 2016

Huge thanks to everyone for participating in this thread! <3 Couldn't have done it without each and every one of you!

[dohtml]

In no time at all, the largest pig was down with minimal trauma to all wolves involved. Gripped now by the heady bloodlust of a successful hunt, Wraith buried his teeth deep into thick fat and muscle and shook his head violently to jerk the carcass about just to ensure he would not stand again. Assured of its death, the mountain wolf lifted his crimson-stained muzzle skyward and let out a bellowing howl to trumpet their success to any and all who would hear; wolf, deer, and boar-alike. Let it sound as a warning that the wolves of Willow Ridge - and Grizzly Hollow - were not to be reckoned with!

Wraith lowered his muzzle once their singing was finished to approach @Yvly first as if to extend an olive branch between their packs. Maybe it wasn't his place, but it had to start somewhere, and she'd been more than helpful with taking down the first boar. Without her help, he never would have gotten close enough to start with and she absolutely deserved acknowledgement for it, packmate or not. Wraith licked her nose once, expression bright as his tail wagged excitedly. "Thanks for your help. We couldn't have done it without you."

Of course, she wasn't the only one who had been paramount to the takedown. Wraith approached each and every wolf to touch noses in gratitude. Had they ignored his call, none of this would have been possible at all. Even to @Niles, the black wolf offered a kind smile. Though he hadn't immediately rushed in, he had at least seen how a pack hunt should ideally go and perhaps next time, he would be able to take a more physical part in it.

To @Morganna, Wraith approached with a lowly wagging tail in respect of her rank before he nuzzled at the underside of her chin. While he couldn't effectively express in words how nice it felt to finally be part of the pack, he had a feeling she understood.

Finally, Wraith turned to @Craw. On a playful growl, he tackled the pale furred male, more than willing to roll around and let off the lingering excitement with a quick tussle that held no bearing on rank and everything to do with continually affirming their bond.

RE: bwp: quarrelings - Isuni - Apr 05, 2016

[dohtml]

It was done.  The larger pig was unable to withstand the better part of four wolves upon him.  In fact, Capable had barely felt the hog struggle as it fell.  There wasn’t so much as one last, indignant squeal.  Embarrassing, she thought, but there were only his hunters to watch him die.  Still, there would be no room for an animal such as this in any of the afterlives, no matter which, if any, actually did exist.

So she drew away from the animal, shaking her coat out.  Blood splattered against the snow.  Her long, pink tongue snaked free of her muzzle, searching out the coppery taste upon her lips.  Later, she would need to groom herself.  There was no point in doing it now, not when there was food to be have, and carcasses to lug back to Willow Ridge’s caches.  This would keep the pack fed for some months, at the very least.  She could not help but feel the swell of pride as she studied the fallen body.

The others seemed to make merry, with Wraith congratulating other wolves.  A small smile flickered across her lips, but Capable largely remained silent, waiting for the alpha’s instructions – or perhaps her permission to feast.

Fade.

RE: bwp: quarrelings - Greer - Apr 05, 2016

[dohtml]

With the brute force of the rest of the pack joining in as Greer tore at the pig’s throat, it did not take long for the larger pig to fall as well. The pig’s blood splashed at his face as it fell, taking the shadow prince down with it. He could feel the pig’s last breath rattle through the remaining pieces of its throat as its eyes grew dull, body limp. Only then did Greer release himself from the beast, a piece of its throat coming with him as he found his footing, mercury gaze studying the scene around him. Wraith was ecstatic — he went to thank the Grizzly wolf for the part she played in the demise of the boars, before turning to members of their pack with an excited expression etched across his maw. Greer, too, was excited — the two boars alone would provide enough food for weeks.

Swallowing the piece of boar he had taken with him, the bloodied prince searched for his sister among the crowd as he waited for further instruction. They would feast, of course, but then they would also have to bring back meat to the caches. They could not afford to waste such valuable meat. He glanced over at the silent Capable, whose excitement was subdued like his own. A faint smile worked its way onto his lips as he nodded at the the agouti female before turning his attention to Morganna once more. Hunger clawed at his stomach like hot knives; it was time for the Ridge wolves to celebrate and feast.

Fade.

RE: bwp: quarrelings - Morganna - Apr 06, 2016

The final pig down, its guts spilling on the ground and throat torn out, Morganna moved to bump her flank to @Craw's, returning @Wraith's nudge by dragging her teeth across the top of his muzzle affectionately. Her tail swayed at her back as he celebrated, an easy smile only marred by a wince as the adrenalin ebbed and she realised just how hard the creature had hit her. A quick self assessment, brushing off the pain as bruised ribs (hopefully not cracked), and torn skin brushed off as little more than a graze. She would check with @Elettra to ensure infection had no chance to set in but other than her own injuries the rest came off well. She could only offer up her silent thanks to the old gods no harm had come to anyone else.

She lowered her head to feast on the larger pig, indicating the others should do the same once she had eaten her fill. Moving away at a waddle, she lowered herself into the snow, resting heavy head on outstretched paws. When the rest were fed and doing the same she had finished pondering the bounty laid out before them. It was true that @Yvly had proven useful, and perhaps it was time to consider trying to repair relations with the Cedarwood pack. "Wraith," she spoke up sleepily eyes drifting from the ample carcass of the larger pig and back to the smaller, "Help yer friend drag the smaller one home. Make sure the leaders know where it came from." As far as Morganna was aware, @Rook and Quil still lead, but wouldn't make unfounded assumptions publicly. Of all people, she knew just how quickly these things could change.
