RE: In the end, we'll all become stories - Leotie - Mar 28, 2017

While Naira told her story of the great Ulf and his fight with the serpent Leotie looked over her new family. Her gaze rested on Reiko and Treyah as she envied them for a moment as they were lucky to be able to grow up with these kinds of moments with their family. She didn't recall having anything of her family before her humans but it only took her a moment. While Naira spun her tale Leotie's gaze drifted over the rest of the pack, she had a family here. Even though it had come later in life then the age Reiko and Treyah were now she was sharing this moment with her family. The agouti woman laid her head on her paws ears tuned toward the matriarch listening to all the details content. It was now more than ever that she did not regret the decision she'd made.

Her eyes flicked to Mae as she asked about what happened to Ulf after striking the snake. Leotie lifted her head eager to hear the answer, “Did the serpent strike back after that?” She asked adding to Mae's question. She knew the bright shining lights had to be the stars, that the fight between the serpent and Ulf was the reason they could all see them now. She had never had the opportunity to hear a story about the ancient wolves that had walked the land long before her time. Leotie found that she enjoyed the story and hoped that she might get to hear more.

RE: In the end, we'll all become stories - Treyah - Apr 11, 2017

[dohtml]

won't you light my lonely way back home?
Treyah Tainn

It didn't take much for the girl to transpose herself into the paws of Ulf, with a mother that taught wolves to sing and a giant father. She had a far-away smile on her face as she watched the shooting stars and listened to her mother's easy voice. For all her sass and snark, she did love the old woman greatly and lapped up every word that fell from her tongue, tucking it away to daydream over when the days were long and quiet and warm, and there was little more to do than laze about and listen to the birds sing.

Of course, her mother fell silent, leaving the story hanging right where everyone would be wanting more and she could almost imagine that Naira might just laugh and say it was time to turn in. Her own eyes turned down from the sky to fall on the tawny leader, silently hoping that her mother might answer the questions and continue on with the story. She loved her father's stories of family past and present, but her mother's tall tales were something else. They were more fantastical than relatable and each one took her to some far off land of monsters and heroes and each one left her wanting more.

For such a grounded young wolf it might have been laughable to consider Treyah an airhead, but when her mother wove her magic, she could be anyone.

RE: In the end, we'll all become stories - Reiko - Apr 27, 2017

Reiko was never deprived of an answer. No matter what he nor Treyah may ask his parents didn't deny them the knowledge they sough. Still, this was different. The night sky was a much grander mystery that pulled at him, and seemed to be something else his mother knew about. The young Tainn did not need to make an effort to hold still. His mother's voice kept him in place, weaving this unknown tale.

Great Warriors, she said. These beings he tried to picture. Strong wolves who had protected their pack at all costs. He imagined large wolves with scars an array of colors. Eventually fallen one way or another to make it to the night sky. He thought it was appropriate they should live there. It made him wonder, would he one day run across the sky? Did all wolves get to do that? Or did they have to prove they were a great warrior?

Brows faintly crumpled at the name of Ulf, and ice ghosts. Uncertain of what ice ghosts were, and what was about to happen to this hero. The boy remained on the edge of his seat, eating up word for word. He was ready to frown when she paused. It was only a small break of silence, and she continued to speak. Ulf had lost his body, but not his spirit. Reiko did not know why, but this pleased him. Least to think that death was not an entire end.

This Great Snake, he seemed to understand, kept others from seeing the stars. He felt himself shudder as she went after Ulf, the beginning of an unworldly battle. Could such a snake kill a spirit? The story took a different turn. Ulf wounding the serpent, and changing the world. Why he was satisfied the lights of the shore were no longer hidden, he felt there was more to tell. Maera posed a question first, and Leotie presenting another. Surely, she would continue the tale? They were not so little, and he did not think her cruel. Still, his eyes lingered on his mother, not entirely sure she would continue. He could not help, but nudge his cheek against her neck. "What happened mom?"
