Left For Dead - Tikhon - May 22, 2017

[dohtml]

A glance up to the sky showed the clouds overhead held the promise of snow for that night. A sigh a sigh caused the russet man's sides to expand visibly at the thought of trying to find a better shelter than what he'd had the previous night. Curled up under a pine tree in a snow bed which he'd carved out for himself had been sufficient but with snow on the way he would need something that wasn't as open. His thin frame showed the toll that being on his own had caused on him as weeks had turned to months. His reduced muscle mass allowed the cold to seep into his bones making it much harder for him to keep the chill away. Tik for probably the hundredth time cursed his brother for leaving him all alone to fend for himself.

Pale paws picked their way carefully down the mountain path as he descended down the mountain into a land that was unknown to him. The hope that it would carry the promise of a new life was slowly fading in the heart of the Artemieva. He'd long ago lost hope that he would see the brother who'd left the pack before he could be banished.

Russet pinna's swiveled forward at the sound of a rustle in the underbrush, rabbit, his nares told him. Tik blew air out of his nose in frustration, he couldn't go chasing rabbit on the mountain side in case he lost his footing. Nor did he had the strength or stamina any longer to run a rabbit down for a better meal then what he'd been feasting on. Picking what he could off carcasses that had already been picked clean, it was no way to live but it helped him survive. He would wait for that carcass and hope that the next one would have a little more meat. In the moment he needed to worry about finding a substantial shelter before the snow began to fall.
