@Kerberos I hope this is okay. If anyone else wants to join please ask

The idea of sparring with Kerberos brought on a titch anxiety, and a strong dose of excitement. Wrestling with dad or Treyah was okay and everything. He liked to think he could learn a lot more from Kerb. As they made their rounds on part of the draw that needed extra enforcement, Reiko was eager to finish. As soon as they were done he'd been promised a good match between them. He hurried to rub his side against an old charred tree, swiftly moving to the next to do the same. He had to quell the whine in his throat. Hold the question of are we done yet? He was not sure where they were going to finish, and often bright yellow eyes looked to his companion hopeful he would say now.

Kerb was usually leaving his own mark, and hurrying to the next to give much of a reply. Reiko couldn't help wonder if he was fighting a smile. A soft huff, he tried to emulate the silver wolf. Moving with purpose as if they had all the time in the world, and they would soon be sparring. It did not feel like it. It felt like they'd been trekking most of the morning. Forcing himself to slow, he lifted a leg to a rather pathetic looking bush. Then headed off to hit another. Why he felt a good chunk of his day would be taken with Kerb, he did plan to challenge Treyah in a friendly contest afterwards. This couldn't take all of day light.

Kerberos Rigel

He had taken Reiko out with a promise of giving him a good spar once they were finished. It was obvious the youth was excited by the way he patrolled. "Don't miss a spot because you're all excited. I'm keeping my word, don't worry." He laughed softly as he went to mark a spot and brush against a tree. Kerb was pleased that the growing boy was so excited, though. It showed he truly cared about developing his skills.

With a small smile, the tawny second halted his trotting. "Come on, Reiko. Let's go get this energy out of you and teach you a thing or two." He trotted off to head towards the heart of the Draw. "You ever sparred before? And no, swatting your sister for taking the last rabbit or deer leg doesn't count." The Rigel male chuckled softly. He assumed that the Tainn had wrestled with his sister but that wasn't exactly the same. At least, he didn't think so. Sparring seemed a bit more official and a test of skills while wrestling could be nasty and for fun.

As a clear area came into view the man slowed down his pace. A soft bump was given to Reiko to let him know this was where Kerb decided they could spar.

Kerb tried to assure him. Reiko nodded his head in understanding. He was aware doing anything half-assed was a real waste of time, as he would have to start all over. He would mindfully check places that needed a fresh scent. Border patrol was getting kinda boring now since it was a regular occurrence. The only thing that made him feel better was it would likely keep any predators away. Or at least it should. He didn't care of any more run ins, least not until he got a bit bigger. A better understanding what to do now that he wasn't a small pup to hide.

He was immediately surprised when it was decided they were done. Eyes widened, and a smile lit his face. He leaped into action, cutting the distance between them to make pace beside the second. He wondered where they would practice. It seemed he was leading him pack toward the main part of the draw. He had to stifle a groan. He really had no reason to complain, but he hated it to take any longer.

Ears twitched at the question. His smile gone for a second. Treyah had been his favorite to wrestle, though the others hadn't been bad when it was their idea. He thought it counted for something, but guess not. "Um with my dad a little, but that's about it." He had been little in most those matches, but as his father had healed they'd done a little playing. Nothing ever official either. He kept pushing his legs to match Kerb's when he was given the signal. A beating tail, he hurried forward, stopping only a good wolf-length from his teacher. Ready to be instructed.

Kerberos Rigel
teaching demonstration 1/3 (teaching a role)

He couldn't fault Reiko for being excited, especially if this was his first real spar. Sure the boy was growing to be large like his parents but with little experience, his size would only be a hinder. Kerberos gave the young boy an encouraging smile. Triell seemed skilled enough and surely his age helped that. Perhaps Reiko would be hiding a trick or two up his metaphoric sleeve.

Kerberos stood across from Reiko and took on a defensive stance. His paws squared beneath his body to certain his weight and his head lowered to match his back as his hackles prickled slightly. "If you're not making the first move always try to get a defensive stance so you can hold off your attacker or sparring partner." Kerberos raised his tail up into the air like a banner, trying to give Reiko a display to remember. "While having your tail in the air usually signals that you're the winner, it's common to keep it outwards while fighting." He positioned his tail to reflect that and nodded at Reiko.

"Get into your defensive stance." He directed softly. Kerberos didn't have to worry about the tawny boy not listening, he seemed rather well disciplined already.

<33 sorry

Reiko was all ears, a studied gaze lingering on Kerberos as he changed the position of his silver frame. It was not just his paws, but the shift in his coat, and the change of his tail. Excited he did not think he could raise his coat like that, and so he did not try.

The only thing Reiko could remember was to protect his throat, the rest hadn't stuck as well. Why he was sure he'd been told, those pieces of learning had often turned into playful wrestling matches without weight.

The young Tainn bobbed his head, understanding this new bit of information he would not soon forget. He had never been sure what to do with his tail, and tried to emulate the way the Rigel propped his own. With instruction, he did his best to match the rest of his mentor's body, though at a much slower speed. He was not confident, and re-positioned his legs a few times. Before one last time he closely looked again to be sure he was mimicking his teacher. He felt it was almost the same. Legs apart, tail up, and chin against his throat.

"Okay, like this?" He questioned. Though his stance was probably wider than it ought to be, overdoing it. But, it was evident, he was slightly nervous he wouldn't impress his friend.
