Whats it like to be loved? When you love someone..You can only hope they love you back. What if they dont? Do you act like me..And cry every single chance you get? Or do you brush it off your shoulder like it's nothing? What should I do? The voices rang through her head. Wondering what the voices were, Depression responded to her voices with a huff. That was only when Depression didn't know it was her own voice. The voice was mostly right. No, it was right. Sighing, Depression shook her head. She knew that no one would love her the way that she once loved. Especially her father. How he left her mother was dreadful. But Depression was only a pup when that happened, so she could do nothing about it now.

Oh how the feelings affected her. Depression tried to rub it off. She skidded through Larkcall Lowlands. Her den was around here somewhere. She thought her den would protect her from the dangers that lurk behind every corner, but it will only make things worse. She knows that sometime she is going to get detected, then it will all be over. She can already imagine something like a bear invading her den. She pushed the thoughts aside and went for a walk."A friendly walk won't hurt anyone." She said to herself. She pads through the area and cuts many corners, only to come back to the den. She decided that maybe if she rested, she would be alright. But who knows what'll snatch her while she is sleeping. Depression plopped herself on the ground of her den and began sleeping.

Cyril Kael-Santoro

The boy was bored, as per usual. So instead of harassing his wonderful teacher Cyril, for he felt as though he would begin to annoy her if they spent too much time together, the little Kael made his way down to the lowlands alone. He skirted the boulders with ease, his clumsy paws becoming more coordinated with every trip he made down the monadnock. Eventually he would grow into his lanky self and would be able to spend more time exploring the never-ending tundra. Due to his small stature his trips were usually short and kept close to the chunk of rock his parents’ pack resided on. Except for the one time he wandered down the sea of gold… that was the furthest the boy had been. For now.

As he meandered through the barren land the stench of another tickled his nostrils, capturing his attention. Despite the strength of the scent he could not figure out where it was coming from, which caused a frown to sprawl across his dark lips as his paced slowed. His ears swivelled around as he tried to listen for the stranger, his legs tense as his yellow eyes darted around anxiously. He swallowed, hard, as he tried to locate where the female scent was coming from, his little nose raised to the sky. The stranger smelled of the tundra, which was a sign that she did not belong to one of the neighbouring packs, for Cyril was becoming familiar with their scents. Huh. A loner. He had only encountered a few before, and they always made him nervous as they were unpredictable. What if they wanted to snatch him away from his mother and father? He was fast, but not that fast—not yet.

Mother? Is that you? Her dream had ended with her father fading away. She noticed her dream fading away as well. Depression slowly rose to her paws, anxiety and fear filling her mind. What if she was stuck as a loner forever? What if she died out here? She predicted her death would be by some predator. But she never thought about a pack wolf killing her. The female shuddered at the thoughts but pushed them aside. Depression shuddered even more when she scented a stranger around. Though, it wasn't too strong. Perhaps a pup? She shook her head and peeked out of her den.

The female slowly padded out of her den and sighed in relief as the coast was clear. She walked further out. "Hello?" She called out. Depression scanned the area for any strangers, especially the one she is scenting at the moment. Her ears perked in alarm just in case. She took a walk around her den to see if maybe the stranger was hiding. If the stranger was small, Depression might have trouble finding them. And that is what she feared. She didnt want to be that wolf that cant defend their own territory. She searched around some more to try and locate this wolf.

Cyril Kael-Santoro

The boy was trying to be sneaky, but the barren landscape of the lowlands made it near impossible. There was almost no foliage to fling his dark body behind, or boulders to conceal himself with. Instead he was forced to keep his body low, his knees bent as he shuffled over the tundra, his yellow eyes searching for the intruder. Her scent was impossibly strong, which meant the Kael was close… but where was she hiding?

Hello? He froze at the voice, his ears raised high as his eyes widened. She was aware of his presence! Oh crap, oh crap, he thought frantically to himself as he lowered his stomach to the ground in a feeble attempt at making himself smaller. The voice sounded frail—tired even; he doubted she was a threat but he did not allow his guard to fall. Just because she wasn’t a threat did not mean there wasn’t one lurking around, waiting to pounce once he became comfortable…

Pulling himself into a stand once more he finally spotted the dark female, his brows pinched together. “Oi!” He called out, a frown creasing his lips, “What’re you doin’ out ‘ere?” She wasn’t particularly close to the monadnock but he didn’t want her to come any closer. Cyril was not fond of strangers.

Depression perked her ears. Had she been right? Was this wolf just a harmless pup? She looked around but got startled at a voice. Depression jumped at the voice and looked around. You're such a fool! Scared of a pup?! She thought to herself. The female shook her head and looked around until she spotted a small figure. Perhaps he was trying to hide. Depression couldn't hide even if she wanted to. Her scent was strong and whenever she hides, she shakes viciously, almost as if she were having a seizure. Her paws started to shake a bit at the thought of her past. Idiot! Now is not the time to think about your dumb father! Focus on the pup! She thought.

She padded over to the small figure and bent her head down. His question seemed to ring through her ears. "I live around here." She answered calmly. Her ears pricked with alarm. "If I may ask-" She took a breath "-what are you doing out here..alone?" She asked the pup. "And If I may also ask what your name is?" She quickly added. She wagged her tail slightly to show that she meant no harm to the pup. She did take a quick glance at their surroundings, and smelled the air a bit. Just to make sure no one else was there. She then gave the pup her full attention.

His frown deepened as she approached him and the boy, out of instinct, took several steps back. His nose stuck out toward the girl as she lowered her own snout, making the boy feel much smaller than he was. Cyril gave a sharp snort in response to hers, his left ear falling to the side. Lived around here? But where?! Making a home in the lowlands, in the middle of three packs, did not seem like a good idea to the ebony Kael. So why had she chosen to live in the barren tundra? The trees surely would have been a better option, as there was more cover available. How strange.

Rolling her eyes at her question he took another step back, emitting a loud huff! before answering properly. “I’m old ‘nough!” He chirped back, a single brow raised as he studied the blue-eyed wolf. “An’ I’m allowed t’be,” he added with a sharp nod, although it was none of her business why he was here—or why he had chosen to explore alone. Strangers were always so nosey! “Kael,” he answered quickly, giving his surname instead of his first, as the boy remained wary of the older female. “’N you?” He was not interested in her name but he wanted to know it so he could report back to his parents. He figured it was important for them to know that a loner was living in the tundra. Perhaps she was looking for a pack? He frowned, but did not say anything else while he waited for her to respond.

Piety Santoro
hope yall dont mind angry mom popping in <3

Piety knew her son was prone to wandering, knew that she couldn't contain him forever but she knew that she could request him to be with an adult if he wished to roam and she or Wraith weren't around. He very easily could have asked Everly, Cheedo, or hell even Odin. The pale leader trusted her subordinates to all be willing to watch the Monadnock's only child this season. Even if they weren't a big pack it wasn't like they had a million children this year.

When she spotted two dark splotches against the lowlands her hackles raised. The scent of her own son was fresh and so was the stench of another she had not known. She had wasted no time in closing the distance with a less than friendly demeanor.

The mother halted behind the form of her ebony son. Had this been any other situation she likely would have greeted them with ease and kindness. But this was a stranger with the Kael boy. Piety couldn't imagine how Wraith would have acted if he had stumbled upon the boy. Would he have been more forgiving or would he be just as protective and defensive as she was? "Best to stay away from him." She harshly spoke with narrowed eyes focused on the blue-eyed female. Her son would be scolded later in the privacy and safety of the Monadnock's home. For this wasn't all the dark female's fault.

Piety is standing right behind Cyril, protective and a lil aggro

Depression took in the scent of another wolf. She exhaled and looked down at Kael. She thought her name would be innapropriete for a pup but she told anyway. "My name is Depression." She said with a flick of her tail. She didn't know who the wolf was that had passed by, and felt like she didnt want to know. Her ears twitched as she looked down at the pup. "So, Do you uh.." Depression was trying to find the right words. "..Know anyone who lives around here?" She asked.

She kept in her thoughts because she didn't want to accidentally say them out loud. That would be bad. She has done so before in her previous packs. Getting kicked out for what she had said to her alphas didn't really bother her. She didnt like her alphas anyway. She wasnt an omega, she was actually a beta once, yet they still had no respect for her. Perhaps, it was because of her name? Depression didn't know and didnt want to think about it.

Right now, all her focus was on the small pup that stood before her. And maybe, just maybe, the other wolf. She couldn't tell if she knew the wolf or not. Though, it would be rare, considering she knew very few wolves because she is so anti social. And she only communicates with others if they talk to her first. Unless she finds a lone pup of course.

His nose wrinkled at her name, for it was long and filled with too many syllables. He did not know what it meant, nor did he care. Unless she planned on seeking refuge atop the monadnock, Cyril doubted they would run into each other a second time. Tilting his head at her next question the boy was about to respond when a familiar scent washed over him, pulling him away from his thoughts. His ears swept back against his crown as he craned his neck to look at his mother, an apologetic smile tugging at his lips. Not only had he slipped away from the monadnock again, but he was also in the presence of a stranger. The boy knew he had nothing to worry about with the blue-eyed wolf, for she appeared timid and unsure of these lands, but she was a stranger nonetheless. And Cyril was a big preacher on the stranger danger philosophy.

An annoyed look immediately replaced his previous submissive expression, his brows narrowing as a deep frown cut into his lips. “Was jus’ makin’ sure she didn’ go near the borders,” he mumbled in frustration, his cheeks flushing warm with embarrassment. He didn’t like being treated like a child, even though he was one. Cyril was just trying to make his parents’ jobs easier, even if he was being a liiiiittle reckless. Unfortunately it didn’t seem like his mother thought that way, for her expression was grim and her words harsh. Oops.
