"Take my hand through the flame"

Well look at her now, running errands for the leaders like a good little subordinate; But at least they give me something to do..! And if it had to be, the sepia wolfess preferred scouting to any other task, giving her an excuse to roam farther from the Bend’s territory. It also meant getting a break from the pups, which was much needed - surprisingly, they only seemed to get more difficult as they grew older. Especially @Mabel and her her latest stunt was enough to drive their cousin nuts, scampering around the forest looking for the rowdy girl. Only now, when she had finally been dragged safely home again, kept under her mother’s sharp eye, could the rest of them snatch some time for themselves.

Except there was no such thing as privacy within a pack, someone always lurking right around the corner, even in a relatively small group like their own. So it really wasn’t until a few days ago that Nalda had finally gotten her chance, when Aponi came to her with yet another mission. She complied, as was her place, though she was happy enough to do it, setting out immediately. Going beyond the mountains meant a week away from Oak Tree Bend - At least - and she would make sure to cherish that time. In fact, even though it was a slight detour, she headed south towards the narrower parts of the pass, combing through the foothills of Riddle Heights until she found what she sought, with a satisfied smirk. The passage that she had discovered in spring, leading underneath the ridge through a maze of tunnels, sparing her the climb; And who knows, maybe awarding me a surprise or two as well.

She did have one more reason to choose this route though, and as she entered the cavern, she made sure to leave plenty of her scent on the rock walls. It had been a number of months since they last met, here, and regrettably she hadn’t been able to return sooner. But @Eirian had promised to stay in the area, and whether he had found a pack to take him in or was getting by on his own, she knew he was smart enough to stop by regularly - next time, he would know that she’d been there. Then off she went into the network of tunnels, using her nose to follow the scent of water, as she had the last time she passed through. And eventually it let her to the blue lake, where she paused to sate her thirst in the mineral rich water, dimly lit by the reddish gold september light, spilling down through the canyon above. Soon enough she would have to continue, skirting the miniature sea to exit through the tunnel on the opposite side; Just a few moments more… As if she knew someone else was lurking right around the corner.
