Lenae Selwyn
Lenae is outside of the borders, hoping to see Cotton! Any Rye wolves welcome!

Winter was drawing in but even so Lenae was determined to make the most of the mild weather. It had been too long since she'd last seen or even spoken to her new friend, Cottongrass, so early that morning she'd set out to fix that issue. She ran as fast as her little legs would allow, so by the time the field's borders came into sight it was late morning, almost noon.

She panted, her sides heaving as her tongue poked ungraciously out of the corner of her mouth. She had to be the fasted wolf in all the land! No one could have made that journey as quickly as she had, or so she hoped. It would have been a nice claim to fame, but if not then it was no skin off her nose. She was just happy she was finally here, that she'd made it without running into any unsavoury folk.

Slowing to a trot, Leane skirted around the border, hoping to catch sight of her friend. She would rather not call for him, because well... she didn't want just any wolf to show up. She wanted him! But as hard as she looked, as much as she scanned the dry grass there was no white fluffball in sight. Licking her lips nervously, Lenae paced back and forth as he tail twitched, yearning to hide between her legs. This wasn't going to plan at all. She'd hoped he'd be here, that he'd spot her and bound over, all sunshine and happy grins.

She supposed she'd have to bite the bullet, she'd have to call and hope he showed his face. Otherwise this whole journey would have been for nothing.

With a sigh, Lenae planted her butt on the floor and tilted her head skywards, letting out a soft, beckoning call.

Hey Cotton it's me!

Adelayde Artemieva

The beta was constantly upon the borders lately, sinking fully into the new demands that were expected of her with the loss of their two Guardians. At first the sunflower was upset and bitter about Askan's leave, she even went as far as considering it pure abandonment. However, after calming her fiery spirit, the tawny woman was able to understand why her partner chose to leave that day. She could never truly put herself in his shoes and feel the same why about the Rye as he did, but she understood him and now Ade was able to hope for only the best for him. She hoped the dark brute will find happiness wherever it may be even if it didn't end up being here.

Still, the loyal girl stuck to the borders, reinforcing it every chance she had. With winter fast approaching and their numbers dangerously low, Adelayde was determined to do the best she could to keep them all afloat. Perhaps, she was taking too much responsibility into her paws and was dangerously close to wearing herself out too quickly, both physically and mentally. The sunflower kept moving though and that was just when a call from someone she couldn't recognize then, calling for Cottongrass, the alabaster fluff ball that had disappeared a few weeks ago.

Quickening her pace, she trotted to meet the caller, her spring and ocean gaze finding the tawny female upon the Rye borders. As she drew closer, a soft smile crossed her ebony lips as she greeted the woman with a soft chuff. "Cotton hasn't been seen here in a few weeks. I'm not sure where he ended up. I'm sorry," she decided to break the news then instead of beating around the bush.

Lenae Selwyn

A figure approached the border, but sadly it wasn't Cottongrass. No, for one this wolf was a lady-a very pretty one at that- and two her coat was somewhat similar to her own though perhaps with a little less white. Lenae knew that Cotton wasn't the only wolf who lived here,so she had to reason to be alarmed. Maybe she had been nearby and Leane's call had caught her attention. It was only natural for her to investigate.

And yet it seemed as though she was to be the barer of bad news. Cotton wasn't here, nor had he been so for a long time.

That was....not what she had expected. She had just assumed he would be here, it had never even occurred to her that he might not be. She supposed it was her fault for getting swept up in it all when really she should have at least taken a moment to think it through. What sort of friend dropped by unannounced? A rude one, a terrible friend. Why did she even bother?

Lenae felt a stab of guilt as she realised she was standing there, tail curled between her legs, feeling bad for herself when he friend was missing. He could be lost or even hurt!  How awful, she didn't want to think about that and yet it was a very real possibility she-and the Rye wolves-had to face.

"Oh no...Maybe I...Maybe I can help look for him!" She assumed they were looking day and night, because that's what family did, right?"I can ask Piety and maybe we can form a search party or something."
