Treyah Tainn
Pack hunt for CAD wolves, round 2 will go up on 13th unless everyone replies before then. Trying something a little different by skipping the discussion beforehand. Let's keep this short and sweet! <3
@Triell @Kerberos @Maera @Dread @Lana @Cannon
I wanna burn it all down so let's start a fire
Treyah Tainn

Trees whipped past the yearling but her ears were full of the sound of thundering deer hooves. A glance was thrown to check for her siblings, to look for Kerberos and Maera, to make sure her father and Tenebrae were getting into position. She hadn't been 100% certain that any of the deer would make a good target until they were moving, the old doe quick to fall behind the rest. She gave a bark before pushing herself in closer to snap at the flank, hoping the pups were watching closely as she angled her body to avoid the flailing hoof, cursing under her breath as it broke free from her hold. Again. She pushed herself, eyes steeling with her determination. They needed this.

Lana Tainn

The excitement in the air was almost tangible as Lana ran, her awkwardly long legs propelling her forward in a failed attempt to keep pace with the hunting party. Each stride pushed Treyah a little farther ahead, and the dark girl a little farther behind. Had she been older, she would have been able to keep up, but for her age closing the gap was proving to be impossible. She didnt yet posses the speed, stamina, or skill to do more than run behind and watch the adults, but that was what this whole thing was for.

Bright eyes remained ever locked on her sister, watching as she lurched forward to bite at the creature's flank, while simultaneously maneuvering her way out of it's reach. Lana thought for sure that the beast would come crashing down, but it slipped away. 'Darn it.'

Maera Slayer

Maera felt sick. Honestly, she wasn’t certain if it was a physical illness, or more of her stomach being in knots because of grief or worry. She just wanted her daughter home… where could little L have gone? She’d passed leadership to Treyah as she searched as far as she could each day before returning home. She couldn’t help it – it was an instinct that had been ingrained in her from a young age, to watch out for those she was responsible for… to make sure her daughter survived and didn’t end up having a similar fate to her namesake.

She needed the distraction – this she knew – and while it was welcomed, she was worried she wouldn’t be able to put herself into it one hundred percent. She quickly fell into place, following Treyah’s lead as she ran to fall up the side, snapping at her side with her teeth while being careful to avoid the dangerous kick of hooves flying around, trying to defend themselves.

The things we left unsaid are only taking space up in our heads
Suka Tainn

Finally, something he could show his siblings up in. He tore past Lana, living up to his name by moving fast, though he probably couldn't do much more than harrow their prey as they drew closer and closer to Tenebrae and Triell. He even tried to take a snap towards the deer but his teeth slid harmlessly off her flank. How did the adults make it look so easy all this time? How come he couldn't land a decent bite? Then he remembered the way his sister had aimed for the softer flesh around where the creature's limbs met its body. He took aim again, just behind the deer's front leg, earning himself his first taste of blood before an angry hoof glanced off his ribs, winding the young wolf. It was enough to stop him in his tracks as he stood there gasping for air. Just as soon as his lungs were filled again he would rejoin the chase but... he just needed... a moment.

Triell Tainn
I'm falling so I'm taking my time on my ride

Triell had to have a great matter of faith. He knew exactly what Treyah was after. They had already prolonged this. They were ready, rather he was or not. They needed him to believe, to trust. Despite hiding, and looking like a hunter in wait. He was a nervous wreck, his breathing though of normal sound was constricted.

He had no idea how many heartbeats he counted, until it was drowned out by the incoming herd. Unknown to him Suka had been struck, he set out to do what he'd prepared for. He launched his massive form at the doe, bearing his teeth between the dip of her neck and, throat. gouging it. Surprised it immediately went to strike back, but he was already tearing up the ground beside it.

Dread Flint
Now this was going to be fun, some of part of him feeling exhilarated as the pack darted into the fold of deer, quickly singling out an old doe for the hunt.

It had been some time since he had joined a pack hunt, back in the Bend if he recalled. But it mattered little what happened in the past, as he ran besides Triell. And unlike Triell, as the older male moved onwards to attack the doe in a weak spot, Dread did notice Suka get a hard hit to the ribs and tumble away from the deer. Inwardly, the dark man did laugh at the boy. Yes, the younger wolf was inexperienced at hunting and had little idea of what to do but still, how could he not laugh just a little?

Outwardly, he gave Suka a quick eyeover as he passed by him, seeing that at least as far as he could tell, he was just out of breath.

"Lesson learned for next time 'ey?" The words slipped out before he could think but his mind was still mostly focused on the hunt. Soon enough, Dread had caught back up with the rest of them, attempting his own attack on the doe, aiming for the hind flank in hopes of limping it.

Cannon Tainn

Normally pretty confident in his own abilities, Cannon was surely surprising himself with the sudden burst of anxiety that filled his core. 'Don't mess anything up, don't mess anything up,' he repeated to himself over and over. His best bet would be to stick to Lana, she didn't know what she was doing either so naturally she'd be doing what she could to stay out of the way for the most part, right? Plus, he wasn't very fast either--- but Suka sure was. The Tainn couldn't help but let out a grunt as the boy flew past the pair. "Tch, showoff." he grumbled, just loud enough for his sister to hear. "Oh, he stopped. Why?"

Killing this round, celebrating and eating in the next. Will start the final round one week from today.
'Cause nobody can save me
Treyah Tainn

Treyah almost missed a step at the sound of a hoof colliding with flesh but a quick glance told her that Suka was just winded and so she focused on the task at hand. Her father launched from his cover to join the fray, drawing more blood from the doe's neck and Treyah took that opportunity to get a decent hold on the deer's thigh and lean back, anchoring it in place as blood filled her mouth. She had to give the others a chance to help bring it down trusting that someone might grab the other leg or help her father with it's neck and this would all be over in moments. She just had to hold on a little bit longer.

The things we left unsaid are only taking space up in our heads
Suka Tainn

Sweet, cold air finally finally filled his lungs and the stars faded from his vision. Shakily the boy found his feet with one quick cough to get the last bit of burning out of his throat. What a bitch! he thought to himself with a growl, convinced he'd never catch the rest of them until his eyes fell on the deer pinned between his father and sister. They were large wolves and forward or backwards, the doe had nowhere left to go. He wanted to be involved! So he raced forward again, taking his sisters lead and biting down on the soft flesh towards the top of the deer's thigh. He felt the muscles clench to kick again but this time he was ready, darting back only to leap back in again when her powerful leg found the ground. She was shaking in his mouth and he knew it was almost done, ready to release as soon as her body began to fall to the ground.
