Solas ColdHeart
Failing at one hunt didn't mean that they would fail in the next or the one after. They just had to hope that luck was on their side as they looked for the right place for the goat hunt to be. They needed something that would work in their favor, not the goats. This was the goats 'home turf' however so there was a chance that their prey of choice knew this area already and the in and outs of it.

Then I guess we better look for a good spot then. The higher the ledge the better. Solas's eyes continued to scan the area but he wasn't see anything that they could use Kajika, however, seemed to have found a decent area for them. He gazed at the area noting how the one ledge was bigger than the other and how there was a smaller one above. Curious he made his way to the area and walked along the larger ledge to see exactly how much room they would have to work before he jumped to the smaller ledge to continue his investigation. There was enough room for him and his companion wasn't too much bigger so it would probably work just as well for him. Glancing over the edge he noted that there was a steep decline below that would likely send any unwary creatures down. Perfect for what they had planned.

Turning his gaze to Kajika he gave a nod of acceptance. Looks like it will work nicely for what we have in mind. Now we just have to find a goat. He gazed upward. They would probably be up higher than what they were currently at. Do you want me to go and see if I can find one and chase it down while you wait here or do want to do it a different way? It didn't make much difference to him except they wouldn't have as much time to get into place on the ledge if they both went looking for goats, of course, they could go look and then one could get into place before the hunt truly began.

Coming out and hunting the goats with Solas would give him a better idea of how they moved across the rocks and what possible techniques the pack could use to hunt them. There were other things that were important to note too but the idea that Anthem's son had given was just one way they could try. If it worked and was safe then it could be the technique they used all of the time. At least until the goats figured it out and they would have to change it. What Kajika did know was that once he and Solas went through with hunting the goats successful b or not he would have more information to help the pack.

“Yes, we don't want to waste any time.” the dark alpha looked across the rock face at each ledge he saw to see if it would be something they could use. He also kept in kind to look for anything else that might open up another opportunity in case their first plan didn't work out. He was one who liked having multiple plans in case the first or second didn't work out. It didn't take him too long to decide on a ledge that he the gut would work for what they wanted. He watched as Solas investigated it further and as he did so Kajika could see that it would work for what they wanted.

Solas agreed that it was the one they were looking for so the hunt could begin now that they had their plan and the tools to execute it. “Shouldn't be too hard to find one,” he didn't think it would be anyway. Kajika gave the question some thought, “I think we should both go to see if we can find one before getting ourselves into position.” That way the one left waiting on the ledge would know when it was time to get ready he also didn't think it fair that one of them go to find the goat so he was going to help his packmate with the searching.

If they could find a wounded goat that would be even better. Solas didn't think that their luck would be that good though. Only the truly fortunate had that happen to them when they were out looking for a meal. Maybe if they could find the runt of the group it would be easier fo them to handle and maneuver, but runts were usually smaller and weaker and that meant that they were picked off quicker as well and they weren't the only predators in these mountains even though it sometimes felt like it.

Kajika agreed that they didn't want to waste time and with that Solas wholeheartedly agreed. The longer they were in the area the higher the chance that their prey would spot them before they saw it. Since they had there spot that was half of this battle and with practice, it would become an easier one. He didn't want to make any mistakes but nothing was set in stone when it came to a hunt so they might have to improvise when they actually got the goat in the area that they wanted it.

Solas didn't comment when Kajika mentioned that it shouldn't be hard to find a goat. They were new at this and the goats might not even be in the area. Then again he might just be thinking the worst. Of course, the absolutely worst that could happen was that one of both became dead or wounded in this escapade.

Then I think we better get moving before they spot us first. Solas responded back before he began to make the trek upwards. He didn't know how long it took but soon he could smell a musky scent in the air. He paused and took a deep breath trying to place it. The stormy male glance at Kajika to see if he had noticed it as well.

Sometimes the odds were in their favor and sometimes they weren't. Kajika had no way of knowing which it would be until they found the goats and were able to see what kind of targets they were looking at. He hoped that there might be an injured one among them, it would make things a lot easier for the duo but the chances were they wouldn't be so lucky.

Still they had their plan set and a place picked out which was a good start. All they needed was a goat that they could push toward the ledge and finish the plan out. There wasn't any other reasons for them to stand there wasting more time. He knew the longer they waited the less chances they had of bringing home something for the cache. Coming home empty jawed was the last thing he wanted especially when they had put in the work. It would be a disappointment that they would surely get over but he didn't really want to have to. They needed the meat and they were going to get it. Kajika did know that they hadn't done this before so things could go completely wrong but he was reluctant to accept that.

He didn't think it would be too hard to find a goat since they were in the area. They had however moved so maybe he was wrong and it would take longer. He had no way of knowing for sure until they went searching for the hoofed beasts. They would need to use their time wisely and since his companion seemed to see things as he did he dointed that would be a problem.

“Yes, we should and hopefully the wind won't shift and alert them to our presence before we find them.” That would be all they needed for things to go completely wrong and they lost their chance. He didn't mind Solas leading the way and fell in behind the man as they made their way upwards. They had only been on the move again for a short time before Solas paused and took a deep breath. Kajika did the same and smelled the musky scent. “I think we are getting close,” he said keeping his voice low. “We should be more careful from here.”

The wind was mentioned and Solas desperately hoped that it stayed the way it was. That was just what the needed the wind to change. The hunt to fail and for them to lose all chances of finding one of the goats simply because the wind decided that it wanted to twist in a different direction. So the stormy male silently prayed that the wind would stay just where it was.

He led the way up the mountainside making sure that he found the best path all the while looking for something that would indicate that they were close to their intended targets. It was the smell that he noticed first and he stopped to make sure that it was actually one of the goats and not something else that called the mountains its home. Kajika commented to say that they were getting close and that they should be more careful now. Solas couldn't help but agree.

I agree the scent seems fresh enough and we don't want to scare them away before we have a chance to test out our plan. He responded with a quick glance over his shoulder. Then the stormy male once more began to move forward. He wanted to try and find the goats before the sun was able to completely get rid of the dew from the morning. He wanted every advantage that they could get.

There were many factors that they would have to watch out for if they wanted their plan to go smoothly. A change in the wind was a big worry, it could send the goats running and it was a variable that they couldn't control. They would haven't be vigilant of the wind and it's direction so they could adjust of need be.

He stayed with Solas as they made their way up their mountain keeping an eye out for the best path for them to take. They also searched for any sign they we're close to finding their query and finding a scent that indicated to the dark Alpha that they were close to finding the goats. It was time for them to prepared to put their plan into action. They would need to approach with caution from that point forward so they would not lose their chance at success.

Solas agreed about the scent they had come across. Kajika nodded in agreement to the man's words, “We should work as quickly and carefully as we can so there’s less chance of something to go wrong and ruin our chances.” The alpha hoped that if they moved swiftly it would give less chance for something to go wrong and increase their chances. As they moved forward he took note the the scent became stronger, a glance was given to Solas. It was nearly time for them to strike.

Going to try and move this along a bit let me know if want anything tweaked/changed.

An eagerness slowly came over Solas. They were getting closer he was sure of it. The smell was fresh and so far everything was going good and they had even found the right spot. He knew though that even with all that on their side it could still go wrong but still he wanted to at least give it a good try. Once he found the scent and they had both agreed that they should move quickly in order to find their unsuspecting targets it didn't take that long to actually find them. The scent was an easy trail as well as the faint prints that made themselves clearer the closer they got.

It seemed like only minutes had gone by before he could see the white forms balancing on the rocks up and to the left of them. There was five whit forms grouped together and two off to the side. Solas cast Kajika a meaningful glance. They had found there targets now which one of them was going to be going down to the ledge and which one was going to attempt to chase one of them down? Solas couldn't tell for sure but it looked like one of the goats had a limp but he didn't speak instead motioning with his nose hoping that his leader saw what he did.

Everything was in place and all they needed now was a goat to drive to the ledge. With the scent fresh and the tracks they were following becoming more defined it was easy to tell they were close to the moment when everything would need to fall into place just as they had seen it in their minds. This was the part of the hunt where excitement ran high and he hoped that not a mistake was made. He really wanted to bring a goat back to the pack. Both him and Solas were on the same page about what needed to be done, they moved along quietly but quickly until finally they doing what they were looking for.

Five of them to be exact, the white forms of the goats could be seem up ahead on the rocks. It was an expected sight which Kajika didn't look away from for a long moment. It wasn't until he saw one that looked like it might be injured did he glance at Solas who seemed to have seen the same thing he had. The dark male gave his companion a nod to let him know he’d seen it to. Kajika made a decision right there about what was to happen next and stepped closer to Solas. He whispered, “You go to the ledge and I will bring the goat to you?” It was more of a question though. They were in this together and if Solas thought he would be better bringing the goat then that is what they needed to do. He didn't want to take any risks and choosing the wrong one of them to do either job could prove disastrous.

Solas ColdHeart
Forcing himself to remain calm Solas saw the nod he was given. The one with the wounded leg looked to be a prime target for them and the hunt was getting closer to actually beginning. The whispered words reached his ears and the stormy male nodded, not saying anything in return. The less they spoke the better. He also saw no need to argue since either way they were both going to end up at the ledge with a goat between them. Besides Kajika was probably better at moving through the rocky terrain than him since he had lived near the mountains longer making him the better choice to chase the goat to Solas.

As quietly and quickly as he could he made his way back down to their chosen spot. Hopping up onto the ledge he turned around to wait in anticipation. A whisper of a woof escaped his lips to let Kajika know that he was in place and ready for him to begin. Golden eyes focused up the mountain to watch for the pale and dark forms that were bound to come down it.

With their plan set all they had left to do was pick their target and they didn't have to wait for long to do that either. This hunt was moving along quite well in the Alpha's opinion. Solas didn't object to being the one on the ledge while Kajika chased the goat to him. Only a moment later the pale wolf had slipped off to take his position. The hunt would soon be in full swing and Kajika was preparing himself while he waited to ensure enough time had passed to allow Anthem's son to get into place. The soft bark reached his ears, a signal to let him know Solas was ready to do his part as well.

Not wasting anymore time Kajika locked in on the injured goat before carefully shooting over the mountains rocky terrain towards the goat. His time in Fallen Tree Cove had served him well and allowed him to navigate the uneven ground easily enough. He soon had the injured goat on the run and it did everything it could to keep out of Kajika's grasp. It was a short amount of time before the ledge came into view. Kajika let out a bark to let Solas know he was coming with the goat.
