Greer Archer-Lyall
open to one other, AH wolves or any of Morg's crew~

Things had been quiet in the heights since the disagreement with his birth pack. He had not yet caught wind of Morganna’s children, either. The rest of her group would have already maneuvered over the mountain by now, joining his ebony sister in the Vale alongside his younger brother. He couldn’t help but wonder if the younger Archer’s mate had passed yet, for Morganna made it sound like she had very little time left.

He knew his sister was plotting something. Morganna very seldom did anything without having a plan behind it. She was a cunning wolf, her brains making up for her lack of size. She was planning something, Greer knew that much. Otherwise she might have stayed with him and his mountain mate. But, she had bigger things on the horizon. She had hinted at returning to the west, where their birth pack resided, which made the shadow wonder if she was planning on taking over… which would not surprise him one bit.

He meandered along the snow-dusted heights, his deer-like legs moving expertly across the rugged terrain. He was looking for a meal to bring back to the pack, for the snow had chased most of the prey away. Only those accustom to the extreme weather conditions remained, like the Aurora wolves…

Summit did not do quiet well. Even he was surprised at his efforts of staying out of trouble. The restlessness pressed, and he had thoughts of challenging the man above him. In his old pack he wouldn't have hesitated at such an opportunity. It was obvious Pyriel was hurting, and in Summit's eyes that meant he should step down. But, here he felt out of his element. Would he be looked own on for challenging a hurt wolf? Asserting dominance over a weak leak. He still couldn't decide, despite how much he thought about it. He hadn't quite the guts to ask Kyna or Greer afraid that in itself might upset some invisible balance. Hell at this point he thought about asking Revon. That would be far less anxiety inducing.

His blue-steel gaze shifted along the white dusted slopes. But, nothing stirred so he pushed onward eventually coming upon Greer's trail. It was clear he was on the move, searching. Summit was more than happy to follow. A faint woof, he eased up to the side of his leader, mindful of the height of his own frame. The charcoal brute remained silent, letting Greer fill him in.

The soft crunch of snow alerted the ebony leader that another was approaching, his ears twitching in the direction of the incoming company. The silver-dusted male’s familiar scent came next, followed by a soft woof announcing his presence. His mercury gaze turned to the mountain wolf, the corners of his mouth curling in a soft smile as he (silently) greeted his subordinate. Since his arrival Summiter had made his presence known. He had started a quarrel over food between the Aurora wolves and their western neighbours, Greer’s birth pack, but the shadow did not fault the newcomer for that. He had been acting on impulse, for he had not been around long enough to know where neutral hunting grounds were. Plus, he had done well in standing up for his new pack and his scarlet leader, Kyna. He had also made a good impression on Greer’s daughter, who had had a successful hunting experience with him.

Summiter remained silent, which meant he had either picked up on Greer’s silent mannerisms or he was simply waiting for further instruction. It did not matter to the Archer. Despite preferring to be alone most days, Greer was actually (oddly) pleased to be joined by the newcomer. Hunt? He asked, his nose angled to the side so he could look over at his company. Or patrol?

The gray colored irises came upon him, and he was given a welcome smile. His tail beat, and his expression lightened. But, he couldn't help wonder what it was Greer saw or thought. Was he still giving them all a good impression? He was trying. But, it wasn't for the reasons he would have thought. Like a temporary shelter, stop along the way. He actually liked being here. He wanted to work for the Heights. How had he lucked out? How would he not screw this up?

Given two choices, he took a moment surveying the landscape below. You'd think he'd grow tire of the view, but he didn't. He suspected he never would. Now, which one? It wouldn't be terrible patrolling with Greer. Though he imagined he might have to expect more silence if he took that route. A hunt on the other paw would mean there was almost no talking. But, there was a higher promise of action. If they even found something. "Hmmm." His light gaze finally shifted upon the onyx Archer. "The other day I caught the scent of a Lynx between here and the rise. I followed until I ran into a snow drift. We could make sure it knows its place? It hadn't appeared like it would seek their home or he would have informed his leader sooner. It was a more weighted reason to patrol. If they found it, they could give it good reason to keep away.

His mercury gaze remained fixated on the younger wolf as he waited for a response, his expression soft; neutral. While he was still slightly uncomfortable in the position of leader, Greer was adjusting. There was no option for him not to. Being at Kyna’s side was important to not only him, but her as well. Disappointing her wasn’t an option, which meant stepping out of his comfort zone. Being a leader. Talking. It was difficult, especially since the ebony Archer had always isolated himself from his packmates, but he was getting better. Having a daughter helped, for he spent most of his free time with her.

As the charcoal subordinate spoke his ears twitched with excitement, his tail swaying gently behind him. A lynx, huh? Chasing it off seemed like a good idea—and it could potentially turn into a hunt if something caught their attention. A patrol it was. He nodded in agreement and motioned for the subordinate to show him where he’d spotted the lynx. Lead way, he hummed, an excited lop-sided smirk tracing his dark lips. The feline wasn’t only a threat to the Aurora wolves, but also their western neighbours; his birth pack. Which meant they would have to be careful in which way they chased the lynx toward…

Summit saw what his words had sparked. Just what he'd hoped for. He about said yes sir, but caught the words with a fold of his tounge. He didn't know why, but he felt Greer might not appreciate the phrase. "Of course," he murmured with his crooked smile. Then began easing downward. Happy there was still a mixture of snow here and there among the rocky terrain as they descended. It'd make it a bit easier to recall the trail.

Continuing, not once did he look back. He didn't doubt Greer was right behind him, eager as well. He was sure neither one of them wanted Revon to happen upon it. Despite the strangeness of their relationship with the Ridge he imagined they might look better driving it away from their territory as well.

The drift he'd been speaking of came in sight, and he motioned it to Greer with a point of his snout. Just where the tracks stopped. Perhaps it had climbed up a tree at some point. Or fresh snow had covered the rest of its tracks. Either way, he paused, eyes checking about while letting Greer do his own inspection to now lead the way.

The dark male accepted Greer’s request without hesitation and started after the trail. He kept close to his subordinate, his brows narrowed in concern as they followed the scent of the feline. He wasn’t keen on having a meeting with the creature but he knew the best way to get it away from the mountain was by dealing with it face-to-face. Their best bet was to direct the creature south or east, away from their two neighbouring packs and into uncharted territory. He did not want to anger the pack north of them or his relatives to the west. Driving a lynx into the neighbour’s yard was a good way of putting strain on pack relations.

It didn’t take long for the pair to arrive at the drift Summiter had mentioned. His pace slowed as they approached, his ears cupped forward while he scanned their surroundings. It didn’t appear to be around but that didn’t mean it wasn’t lurking nearby. He moved past his dark partner, nostrils flaring as he followed the steps before they disappeared in the snow. Instinctively he glanced up, searching the scattered trees, his nose twitching. It was possible that the feline had climbed one of the trees—or had it retraced its steps? The shadow returned his focus to the snow, a dark scowl appearing across his snout. The scent was still fresh, even if most of the tracks had vanished. He stepped to the right, his nose hovering along the ground as he attempted to figure out where it had gone…

feel free to play the cat. I don’t care if he jumps st Summit. Xp
Where was the lynx? Lurking in a pine down from the second. He watched them with a narrowed gaze. Debating about remaining hidden or giving them what for. He liked this tree after all. This part of the heights provided better meals. It would only be a matter of time till they realized where he was. Maybe he should jump and try to make an early escape.

Summiter was tempted to hang by Greer’s side. But he decided to poke around opposite is leader. He kept feeling like it must be here. His boss said as much. But....wait. If hearing it’s thoughts he slowly lifted his nose, blue eyes taking along the collection of pine needles. He spotted its huge white feet. It scowled, giving off a hiss.

The man’s coarse silver hairs rise and a faint whine began in his throat.

It was here… somewhere… but the feline had done well in masking its trail… almost as though it had known the wolves would follow it. But the creature wasn’t stupid enough to attack two adult wolves—was it? The corners of his mouth fell into a deep scowl as he prowled about, his ears twitching as he attempted to listen for sounds of breathing…

It was then that the slender leader heard a strange hiss coming from the trees. His head snapped around, upper lip curling back to expose a row of sharp canines as a low growl hummed in the back of his throat. The furry creature leapt from its perch in the tree, aiming for his silver-dusted partner with extended paws. Without hesitating the alpha tossed himself in the direction of the overgrown cat, his shoulder colliding with the creature’s side and preventing it from sinking its claws into Summiter. Unfortunately, as a result of flinging himself at the lynx, Greer was knocked to the ground in the process, a loud oof! escaping him as the wind was knocked out of him.
