Kajika Tallis

Kajika knew it wouldn't be easy for Moonshadow to take some time for herself, it wasn't in her nature. In fact he wished every wolf he'd ever brought to the cove was like Moonshadow. When he'd brought her he never would have expected things to turn out as the had but he was glad for it. He'd made a decision and she hadn't argued with it which he was glad for but in a way it worried him too. For just a second that worry showed in his face as she spoke to Tulip. The dark alpha was glad that she would be getting some much needed rest.

A smile was offered to the yearling as Moonshadow spoke of him being more of a softy than she was. “It's one of my many secrets,” he whispered to the girl as if it really was a secret. He then turned his amber gaze Moonshadow, “Don't worry about us or anything else for that matter. I'm sure we will have lots of fun.”

Then once Moonshadow had retreated back into the den he turned back to the inky yearling, “Now, what do you say we go show those coyotes who's land they are trespassing on?”

Tulip nodded toward @Kajika before whispering a hardly audible "see laer" to Moonshadow. She led the way with legs outstretched, curling back towards her belly at rapid pace. For a small wolf she was covering the distance between them and the coyotes steadily. Her fur was on end, teeth readily bared, as she weaved in and out of the territory's trees. Finally she came to a ledge, jumping down without a hint of hesitation. As her paws coiled with the ground, her breaths heavy, she found herself before a massive carcass. It was huge! The smalls appeared to be gone, so the girl crept up to it curiously. She inspected the strange animal, "Big. Big big." She muttered to herself, then looked back in search of her alpha. "No smalls!" She shouted. They had must've heard them coming and ran off, shame of Tulip for being so overly excited! Should've been quiet! The girl mentally punched herself.

Loosing interest with the large carcass the young wolf begun to smell around, carefully searching the area for a distinct scent. They were very muddled together and it seemed all had ran one way, then back, then out again in different directions. Tricky critters. They were learning how to evade the pack...

Tulip has a speech impairment that causes her to talk with a severe lisp and has selective mutism. I will not be writing her words to reflect this (outside of going mute), but ask those who roleplay with her to understand it's implied.

With their goodbyes given to Moonshadow he and Tulip set off in search of the coyotes with the yearling in the lead. Kajika didn't stop her and instead just followed watching the girl as she crossed the distance between them and where the sounds had come from. He couldn't help but notice that she seemed more confident in this situation. As they came down to the ledge he followed her as she jumped down. That was where they found the moose carcass which Kajika looked over. “Yes it's very big,” he agreed with the yearling, “Maybe we should get some.of the others and bring what meat we can back to the pack. What do you think?” He asked the girl.

At her exclamation he nodded, “It seems they don't want to have another fight with you,” he said giving her a quick nudge on her cheek. The dark alpha let the yearling sniff around the area for the coyotes. “Do you think you will find them Tulip?” He asked her wondering what she thought of the matter.

The girl looked towards him nodding, and dare to pip up, "What big?". She had no name for the large beast that had fallen within their territory from unknown alignments. "Pack could use meat!"b] She said nodding profoundly. The girl forced a smile onto her lips, it was foreign and strange looking on her young features. Smiling at Moon was easier, but Tulip spent much time with her. It did not last long as she put her "mask" back on.

Tulip gasped at his words, momentarily shinning with pride but the alpha's nudge caused her to flinch eyes squeezing shut. Her tail slunk under her belly. Nothing happened. Nothing. She was fine. At first she opened one eye, than the other. His question had her smelling around more before answering, "Maybe...but big? Pack needs big."

They had come across the carcass that the coyotes were obviously after. He looked the beast over before his amber gaze was brought to Tulip as she asked about it. “This my dear is a moose,” he replied with a smile. She really was rather cute with her broken words and she did what she could to be understood. The alpha nodded, “This much could certainly go a long way to getting us through the rest of the winter.” it was a good find that they would have to get the rest of the pack to help them to take back to the cove.

Kajika's concern however were the coyotes, would they come into pack lands to get more of the moose once they took it. He wanted to know if the girl could find them. Her answer caused him to smile once more. “The pack does need the moose but we don't need coyotes coming and trying to take it either. The moose will be fine while you and I go and make sure they won't be coming back.”

Whispering Pines send my baby back to me

"Mmmm-moo-mm-oose. Oose." M was just to difficult for Tulip to really want to bother with, so she settled for Oose. While her attempt at copying the alpha's words may have failed, he was satisfied. "Oose big." She spoke quietly to herself, practicing the new word. "Oose...oose. Big oose" @Kajika 's words drew the pack's lowest back in. She nodded in agreement with him, proud to have helped find this prize. Surely Moon would be happy with the little shadow and Tulip loved impressing the woman, for she was ever so kind and praised the girl. Things of course were not always smooth sailing, but the girl found herself respecting the woman in a different way than with Grevious.

Tulip acknowledged the man's words before searching the area once more for a distinct trail. Despite the commotion that had taken place between the coyotes escape, she did manage to separate one. It was rather musky, mixed with blood and the smell of it's group. From what Tulip could tell the coyote was young and male and heading south. She stood still smelling a particular area before slowly setting out, taking care in following the trail before picking up the speed. The creature had been tricky, finding ways to make himself hard to follow.

At one point he had circled a group of trees, another doubled back to confuse the wolf, all the while his prints were so faint they came and went. Some times she could easily follow by just them, then others the small paw prints were gone. Tulip came to a fallen tree, causing her to chuff at the irony. The coyote had made his way over it, in failed attempt to seemingly disappear, but the girl knew better than that. She could still smell his musk whether he liked it or not. As the pack's boarder came before her she stopped to look back towards the alpha unsure. Not only did the scent become heavily confused with the packs', but...it was outside of their territory. Her tail snuck between legs as she offered a nervous expression.

Kajika Tallis

Kajika smiled at the yearlings attempts to say moose, it was like she was a pup just learned to say certain words. “Don't worry, you'll get it,” he said giving her a gentle nudge. It did bring a small pang in the alphas chest as it caused him to think of Chan. He also thought of Roland and what he was like as a small pup. She seemed to settle on what to call the moose and he went with it having no doubt that her speech would improve the longer she was with the cove. He chuckled, “Yes the moose is big,” he agreed, “It will be quite the task taking it all back.” That didn't matter they would get it back and eat well.

Once he told her to track the coyotes Kajika left her to do her thing. He stayed close keeping up with her as she first searched for the trail and then began to follow it. He had been wondering what the yearling would be good at once he and Moonshadow decided to move her up from lowest. Scouting and hunter came to mind but he also wondered about maybe a healer position since she seemed to have some knowledge.

Even when the trail went around trees and doubled back and over a fallen tree the girl still didn't lose it. Then things took a bad turn as she led him right back to the coves borders. The alpha stopped and looked into the territory, were the scavengers inside pack lands right then? Had they made a home there? And how have they gone unnoticed? He looked to the yearling taking in her nervous expression and posture. The alpha stepped in to her and nudged her cheek, “You did well. Are you able to follow the trail into the territory?” He asked because they had to find them now that it seemed they had made a home within their borders.

Whispering Pines send my baby back to me

Tulip managed not to flinch when he touched her this time, but gave his a sideways glance, still not sure of how she felt towards the odd affection. It made her uneasy, but at the same time not so much. He talked some more but Tulip was tired of talking, and simply made it clear she was listening, but didn't offer up a response. The point had been made, the pack needed the Oose, and that was that. The pack would help them get it all back later.

Once at the boarders the man nudged her cheek again, Tulip pulling back at first hesitant. Then a look of shame came across her features, he was not Grevious. He was not going to hurt her like that. Still she was not so sure about being touched. Chuffing she touched her nose to his shoulder gently then looked up at him nervously. She didn't want to cross boundaries, but she also didn't want to come off as rude for not showing a return of the strange affection.

"Out" She said pointing her muzzle towards the outside of the territory. Now reassured the girl begun to follow again, but it seemed to pace back and forth just outside of the boarder. That's when it clicked, the girl knew now, and her face turned to pure panic. Small trick!Small trick!" She spoke awfully loud, clearly upset, her rough voice rushed. She should have known better! All those muddled trails...the fact she was following a single coyote. It has purposely lead them here, away from it's group, in order to trick them. It was a diversion. Tulip mess up, trick. Small trick. Wrong way...." Here eyes darted about as if trying to keep up with her thoughts as she tried to come up with how to tell him. Small still at oose. One small trick...to...prrr-pro--ect smalls." That's why all the scents were muddled, they had pulled off a clever trick alright. The small yearling looked at him with pleading eyes, hoping the talkative man would understand. The girl begun to cower, it dawned on her on how bad she was. @Kajika was going to be so furious...>

He encouraged the girl not wanting her to give up because she hadn't gotten it exactly right. It was a process which he understood from watching Namid's pups and Chan grow up. As long as he understood and she was comfortable. He was pleased she didn't shy away from his nudge hoping that meant she was becoming more comfortable. Just because she was lowest didn't mean she was the outcast of the pack, he wanted her to he a part of it and want to work for it like the rest of the members.

When they reached the borders after following the trail he became concerned that maybe they had a bigger problem. He looked down to Tulip and again tried encouraging her and this time she returned his nudge with a touch to his shoulder. The alpha smiled down at her, “Seems your making some progress today.” That was good in his book even if they did have a coyote problem.

His Amber gaze followed the pointing of her muzzle as she spoke. He worked to discern what she was talking about as she started to pace the border. Kajika watched with interest as to what she was doing. Then she spoke again loudly and she seemed upset but he understood. “They tricked us, well that is something of a relief.“ At least now they knew the coyotes weren't on the territory but they were still causing trouble. As she went on she gathered that they had followed a dummy trail. “Well don't beat yourself up about it,” her when she spoke of messing up. Then she spoke about the coyotes still being at the moose, “We better get back there before they run off with it. Come on,” he said as he took off at a run back toward the moose carcass.

Progress? Tulip was confused to how touching her nose to his shoulder was progress. Why would he want her to come so close to him and to do such a strange act. The male perplexed her but she decided to brush it off. His customs were different than where she had come from and she was just going to have to adapt to the softer world around her.

He had brought her into his family, allowed the risk of having her around, and continued to surprise the girl. Moon and him were full of odd happenings in the girl's opinion. They were forgiving and so different. Tulip was every so grateful to not have been punished for her mistake. She stood stunned momentarily before surging forward, her tiny frame nipping at the large man's heels. Her much shorter legs having to work harder to cover the same distance as him.

The scene they arrived to was no surprise, three coyotes were picking at the carcass and attempting to gather bits of it. Concerned the girl tired to slow her alpha down by cutting him off daringly. No right. More. No right." She accepted the risk of the man toppling her over and being mad, because as far as she could tell this wasn't right. Coyotes rarely traveled together except during breeding season or a mother and her pups. However, it seemed to be two adult coyotes and an older pup. The sight unsettled her, where was the one who made the dummy trail? Only two pups? The small girl dared not to get closer or make too much of a commotion, if they were not already aware of them she didn't want to make them such.
