RE: For a silent moment... the snow seems to have stopped.

Gent was once more behind friendly lines, a rarity these days as he dedicated the majority of his time to scouting for sustenance. He was as worn as any other wolf at this time, but still managed to keep up his pluck. Even after the spontaneous failed raid, he refused to let negative thoughts enter his head. Possessed completely by positivity, he was already preparing for the next trip out. The weather had been fiercer than normal the past few days, refusing to let the wolves who huddled under the barrage forget the dire nature of their situation. Today, however, things had calmed, and Gent looked to take advantage of this.

The wound behind his jaw had scabbed over and no longer throbbed, though when pushed it would still cause him pain and was far from being forgotten. It was only a hand accompanied by hundreds of others that pressed him forward and gave him reason not to quit. He still possessed his strength, and had recently taken his fair share from the cache after having ran the course of circling the territory and renewing any scent posts the others might have missed. There was a check list to complete, a list of what to check up on every time he came home. What he hated most about having to scout so much was thinking of what he might miss while he was gone.

Feeling sufficiently caught up, he passed by the ancient den site that marked the heart of their newly acquired land, pausing for a mere moment to sample the air. Spending so much time away from the pack meant he had been given little time to interact with his allies, and thus the connections between him and this family were loose or, for some, nonexistent. He didn't like it, as it made his place within the pack very unsecured. Therefore, whenever he could, he sought company. Unfortunately, the landmark was not crawling with activity as it normally was, however he was not completely alone. The scent of one of the princesses hung in the air, and his arctic blue eyes casually scanned the vicinity to spy her.

"Princess?"

The word hung in the air for a moment, before Gent realized, that was the only thing floating to the earth; the precipitation had stopped completely, and the sun even peeked out, illuminating the thick coating of snow and causing the clearing to gleam. Yes, today was the perfect day to scout, and Gent would need to set out immediately to take advantage of this favorable break in weather.

The princess was roused by a voice coming from outside of the den, for once she had been sleeping soundly. The storms had brought about fits of restless sleep, the howling and groaning of the wind haunting her dreams, but today the air was silent. Aponi had collapsed in an exhausted heap and instantly fallen into a deep sleep, drained from the lack of rest and the constant struggle of travelling in the snow. While the forest had far less of the dreaded stuff than the mountain it still nearly reached the young woman's chest and she had to plow through everywhere she went, becoming soaked and cramped every time. Groggily the silvery girl raised her head, blinking crossly at being awoken during her nap, especially by a voice she barely recognized. Aponi had seen the teenager trailing behind Sagacity when she left on her missions, but she had never actually spoken with him herself. The dark yearling stood peering into the hollow, and the princess heaved her body into a sitting position demanding, "Yes?" before glaring at him expectantly.

Finally she was awake enough to peer around the den herself, she was alone which was rather surprising. It seemed the rest of the pack was taking advantage of the clear weather, but Aponi would have been content to just stay here and sleep all day. Grumbling softly to herself the princess stood, ruffling her coat back into place from where it had been misplaced during her slumber. Glaring back towards the culprit of her arousal she demanded again, "Well?" Oh how much Aponi resembled a much younger Naira, all fire and smoke, passionate and easily tempered, a hurricane of a woman.

Gent had half expected to be ignored. After all, he'd observed the girl on multiple occasions before; she was... willful, for lack of a more endearing word. Bratty, if one were being blunt. But in an honest way, that borderline appealed to the boy. She was on a precipice, with two ways to fall and nowhere to walk between. She would either be destructive and utterly worthless, or she would be a queen like no other. He was thoroughly interested in hanging around long enough to discover which cavern she chose to dive into.

Glacial blue eyes looked her over once, at her slightly ruffled appearance and the embers of resentment in her equally pale gaze, and he knew he needed to tread carefully. Even when it might be more fun to prod and poke. Therefore, he concealed the smirk that fought to pull at his lips, instead handing the princess a warm smile, relying on handsome charm to brittle the ice.

"A break in the snow, perfect timing to set out on a scouting trip; would you care to come along?"

He fully expected rejection, assuming she would rather return to her nap than wander with a stranger. But perhaps she was more mature than her attitude passed off, and she would see the opportunity he was giving her. After all, she was running out of time to develop; before she knew it, the girl would be an adult, and all the skills and lessons she either accepted or rejected would serve to make or break her.

When the yearling smiled the princess couldn't help but notice how attractive he was, oh sure she had noticed in passing before but it truly shone through when he smiled. It aided to cool her temper, though she still felt irritated at being awoken and so Aponi returned with a smile of her own. It was in moments like these, when an option was posed to her that one could see the intelligence that shone in the blue eyes. More and more with each day the girl grew cunning, just as stubborn as she was when she was younger but learning to harness the grudges she formed into plans instead of acting out. Quickly the silver princess weighed her options in her mind, to return to her nap would ease her exhaustion, but a scouting lesson could prove to be helpful in the future. Besides, even since she was little scouting had always claimed a piece of her heart and perhaps this would prove that she was old enough and capable enough to accompany Sagacity out of territory on one of her missions.

Less than a moment had passed before Aponi nodded firmly as a response, a new determination shone in her ice eyes; she would prove herself today. Shaking her fur back into place the princess moved to the opening of the den, her eyes squinting about the sudden sun light. Glancing around she wasn't entirely sure where they were going and what they were going to do, but there was no way in hell she was going to admit that. Instead she turned around to look at the dark male and asked, "Well are you coming?" in her sweetest voice possible.
