Relic Lore’s last year has been full of ups and downs, tragic deaths and far more births than we’ve seen to date! Broken Tree Pines fell early in the start of RoW’s seventh year as all the adults disappeared, leaving the remaining yearlings (Arion, Ember, and Nalda) to find their way into the world. They would eventually find their way to Oak Tree Bend, though unbeknownst to them, there had been a seismic shift in the pack in December, when Aponi decided to challenge Spieden for leadership – and won. The deposed alpha took off with her children Marina and Mako; a short-lived stint at Whitestone Monadnock was replaced by taking the children and an additional guardian (Capable) to learn the Blackfish ways far off.
But many others left Oak Tree Bend, and all four packs formed during this year were direct offshoots! Wild Rye Fields was formed in September, and though not a result of the challenge fall out, was brought up by former members Drestig and Jessie looking for a new start. Also formed were Charred Ash Draw, Quaking Vale, and finally, Aurora Heights. Here’s an interesting factoid for you: we now have a matriarchal lineage of alphas in Naira (CAD), Aponi (OTB), and Kyna (AH)!
Year Seven also saw the fall of some titans: Nina Hervok, Angier Lyall, and Elettra Archer all left the world of the living this year, finally succumbing to old age. Kisla Baranski also passed away this year, defending her young puppies from a cougar attack. Many of the pack leaders are now youngsters, inevitably leading to some interesting changes of politics. Even Morganna Archer departed for some time, leaving Whitestone Monadnock in fresh paws, as well.
By the time spring rolled around, we welcomed a whopping thirty-two pups this year! Thirty two! A new records – though it remains to be seen if they’ll all survive the year. The start of year eight has already proven quite exciting.
