RE: Fallen Tree Cove, a lynx has been driven to desperation by the cold, and is raiding your caches. I'm going to keep this going since it is an RE and needs to be finished by the end of the month. This round ends on 2/6 [dohtml] I have loved the stars too fondly
Despite the cold temperature, the sun was out allowing at least a small bit of warmth on her silver dusted pelt. It was a warmth that could stretch across the entire territory and bounce off of the ice encrusted surface of the Lake. Soon, that ice would thaw and the territory would once against be sprung into a beautiful paradise of greenery. A pleased smile fit itself onto her blackened lips at the thought of spring and warmth. She’d always loved spring. It was the beginning of many things, a rebirth of sorts for the land. Everything in nature thrummed with it and after the winter she’d had she couldn’t be more ready for it. She’d been doing her rounds on the caches, checking them and making they were full or making sure nothing within them was going to spoil. Unfortunately she had had to discard of a few morsels, but with their numbers it was something that they could afford. The lake was plentiful with fish even in the winter which made up for the harsh climates they had to deal with. As she moved to the next cache a scent crept up on her that made her skin crawl. She paused, nose twitched and her hackles slowly rose. She knew that smell, the smell of a damned cat and her nose wrinkled in disgust. She bolted forward, heading in the direction of where it was coming and what she saw only pissed her off more. The animal had decimated their cache, carcasses littered across the ground half chewed while the greedy animal was couched over the body of a rabbit. A body that her packmates had could for themselves not some mooching feline. Her tail flagged over her pack and her mismatched gaze flashed dangerously, her hackles rising to puff her up. The pale green eyes of the Lynx caught hers and it slowly rose, a hiss rising in its throat and a low growl bubbled from her own. She lunged forward with a furious bark, snipping at the feline angrily and it let out another angry hiss swiping its sharp claws at her. She reeled back, avoiding the mammals mitts and threw her head back to signal to the rest of the pack that they had an intruder. She circled the animal, auds lying back in an attempt to keep it cornered until reinforcements arrived. They’d be lining their den with a warm pelt tonight. To be fearful of the night
RE: Here kitty kitty - Kajika - Feb 02, 2017 [dohtml] He'd been up early, just after the sun had risen over the trees of the cove, it had been a nice sight, a sign spring was on the way. However, it had done nothing to improve the beta’s mood which had only improved marginally since he'd spoken with Namid. It was clear that he needed time to sort through what was going on with him, to mourn Des as Moonshadow had suggested. He'd set to work hunting and patrolling to get it over with. Both tasks had been considerably less enjoyable as of late leaving with the strong desire to get them done before returning to his makeshift den. He still had yet to return to the communal den and didn't plan to in the near future. The rest of his morning had been spent dozing near the den in the sunlight which had warmed his dark pelt, helping to sooth his mind enough he could sleep a little. During one of the periods he'd woken from his light slumber the sound of Namid's call came to him causing his ears to come forward. It was the sound to alert the pack that they had an intruder in their territory. Kajika quickly rose to his feet and charged in the direction of the call. It didn't matter how he felt or if he wasn't up for a patrol, this was different. They had to deal with an intruder immediately so that the pack would be safe. Arriving on the scene he found a very angry Namid trying to keep a lynx cornered all by herself. He had also noticed the carcasses from the cache strewn everywhere, if this was what the cat was up to they had to take care of it immediately. Not wasting any time Kajika joined Namid with hackles raised and a snarl leaving his throat. He would help her to keep the cat cornered until the others arrived. [/dohtml] RE: Here kitty kitty - Moonshadow - Feb 02, 2017 [dohtml] OOC! Out of character comments here The day had been peaceful thus far. The midnight female had done a pass at the borders and a small hunt for the caches. Now she was enjoying the rare warmth of the sun upon her favorite place in the cove. The rock overhang that she laid upon was perfect for soaking up rays. Moon was planning on laying around for a bit longer before seeking out her love. Her plans however wouldn't be carried through for Namids call reached her silver tipped audits. Jerking her head up from atop her paws she looked towards where the call came from. The message was clear an intruder. Her large frame was up and moving towards where her queen was. She sprinted with her hackles already raising before she arrived. Despite her sprinting she arrived third since being almost all the way across the territory. Skidding to a halt silver eyes locked on to the lynx causing her lips to curl back showing her teeth. A growl formed in her chest as she watched Namid, Kajika and Edio circle the feline. Not wasting any time she hopped right in helping keep the animal cornered. She barked viciously at it hoping to help disorient it. Moonshadow had no fear when it came to protecting her family. She would do anything it took - she had scars to prove it. The only difference between this and the bear would be her experience. RE: Here kitty kitty - Tagg - Feb 03, 2017 [dohtml] ----------------------------------------------------------- Word Count: 302 Tagg had been a bit further from their caches, looking for something to add to them. He’d already eaten earlier, and since it was a nice day, he thought maybe he might catch a complacent squirrel getting a head start on the season. He had no luck, though, and had just started to head back to spend the rest of the afternoon lounging with Moon when he heard his alpha’s call. His ears twitched up; this was not something he had heard in this territory before. He immediately broke into a sprint, dashing through the umbra cast by the trees to find his queen. He arrived after several others; he saw Kajika and another wolf he’d scented in the territory but had yet to meet. She looked out of place among the fighters, but Tagg knew she had just as much right to fight for her family as he did. What caught his attention the most, however, was his beloved @Moonshadow circling a large feline with their alpha. You stay away from her! He thought, immediately springing to his love’s side with his hackles raised almost painfully. A harsh snarl tore its way from his throat, green eye narrowing in hatred. He felt that old anger coursing through him, the anger he’d used to help him survive the war. This creature was larger than the coyotes he was used to, but his spar with Moon had helped reorient his fighting style. Besides, he was not alone for this fight. He knew his love could take care of herself, but the desire to protect her rose even over his desire to protect his pack. He had something to fight for, and he wasn’t going to back down easy. He’d wanted to be a guardian, and now was his time to prove he could do the job. As she circled the others slowly came galloping in, coming to her aid and she felt much better about the situation. First came Kajika, then sweet little Eidolon, followed by Moonshadow and Tagg. They were more than enough to take own the small feline, but it wasn’t to be mistaken that even though it was small it could still pack quite the wallop. No, they needed to tread carefully. Behind those deceptively pretty green eyes was an intelligence not unlike their own which was the most dangerous part about it. “Eidolon, Moonshadow, Tagg. Circle and form a barrier. It does not escape. Bark and make as much noise as you can. Kajika, you and I will go in for attacks. Avoid the claws, they are like little thorns!” she barked. If the prey had been any bigger she would have set their bulkier members, Moonshadow, Tagg, and Kajika, on take down but for the moment the best strategy was to keep the animal’s means of escape closed while Kajika used his bulk as a bully and Namid used her agility to go in and tire out the animal. The more confused and tired it became the greater their chances became of escaping this relatively unscathed. With this she let out a sharp bark of her own, surging forward once again to place a nip at the rear of the cat who let out a frustrated hiss and swatted at her. She dodged, whirling to keep her attention on the predator. To be fearful of the night
RE: Here kitty kitty - Kajika - Feb 07, 2017 [dohtml] Soon it wasn't just him and Namid facing the car alone, Eido, Moonshadow, and Tagg soon joined them. For once Kajika was glad there wasn't any chance for him to think about what was going on inside his mind. The mixed feelings that he had about what was going on around him. He had to keep his focus on the car because despite its small size it could still create a lot of damage. When Namid gave the orders for what he needed to do to help take the car down his ears were perked. He was to help her and go in for attacks while the others made noise to confuse the animal. It seemed simple enough though it was not. He would have to avoid the claws of the lynx so that he wouldn't be injured, he worried for Namid to. She had the same danger and worry as he did but he had seen her do this work plenty of times. He knew he couldn't focus on any sorry he might have for her either or they would never accomplish their goal. She took the first attack going into nip at the animals rear recurving a hiss and a swat in return. Kajika knew it was his turn, they couldn't give the cat the chance to rest and regiam its bearings. He charged in with a growl he too nipped the cats rump near the same place as Namid. Just as he dodged out the cat swipped at him too just barely missing his shoulder but he was in the clear to allow Namid to take another shot. [/dohtml] RE: Here kitty kitty - Neha - Feb 07, 2017 [dohtml] Neha had been on the opposite side of the territory when her mother called out, alerting the pack to a threat. Still far from her usual self, the eldest Vuesain had been spending more and more time alone. Today she took time out to patrol the borders, ensuring their home was well marked. But even with a well guarded territory, it seemed that rivals were intent on sneaking their way in. After renewing one of many scent markers, she lifted her head as the summons rang out loud and clear. Brown eyes flashing with concern, she was quick off the mark to bolt in the direction from which the turmoil was coming. She had quite a ways to go from one side of the Cove to the other. It was here that she used her willowy figure, built more for stamina and speed, to her advantage. Hurriedly she flew across the snow covered ground, ears tightly upright, her eyes scanning the distance for signs of her pack. Dozens of scenarios played out in her mind, as to what could be the cause for such urgency. In her young life, Neha had experienced much in terms of confrontation with her pack already. The bear she and her family had slain long ago was one such example, and she was more than willing to meet any more challenges. The offensive scent of cat stung her nose, prompting her to wrinkle her lips in a silent snarl. The lynx, however desperate it was at this time of year, had made a foolish choice in barging in on wolves land. Ahead, into view came the figure of several members of the pack. Her mother was heading the attack, with Moonshadow, Kajika, Tagg and Ediolon there for back up. As she arrived on the scene, hackles bristled and tail lashing high above her back, she caught the tail end of Namid's instructions. Being of similar build, she knew to fall in place alongside those who were to distract and encircle the lynx. Bracing herself, while growled barked escaped her throat, she dove in when she saw an opening. She utilized her speed, aiming to nip at the right hind ankle of the lynx when it's back was turned, distracted by Kajika. And just as quickly, she whirled away, just in time to avoid the snag of needle like claws taking a chunk out of her muzzle. [/dohtml] RE: Here kitty kitty - Tagg - Feb 07, 2017 [dohtml] ----------------------------------------------------------- Word Count: 269 Tagg was so focussed on the cat he almost missed Namid’s words. When she told him to stay back to prevent the feline’s escape, he growled in annoyance. He’d much rather be in there, fighting, but he also knew better than to question his alpha. Whatever her plan was, he was sure there was a tactical reason she had him further back. At least Moon isn’t any closer to those claws than me. He thought, letting out a series of sharp barks to draw the intruder’s attention as the queen shot in to nip at it. He kept it up even as he watched Kajika dart in and dodge a counter-attack offered by the beast. The scarred man hadn’t noticed Neha’s presence until she too leapt into the fray. He lurched forward a step, bark rising in pitch as the princess went for the thief’s hind paw. Those are deadly too! But she was back out of range in an instant, narrowly avoiding a clout to the face. His fur prickled more than ever before and he looked to his alpha, wondering if she was going to say anything about her daughter’s sudden appearance. Surely she wouldn’t let her fight such a dangerous creature with so little experience? But he didn’t have time to dwell on it. He’d been given a job, and he was going to do it. If his queen wanted him to hang back and distract the lynx, then that was what he was going to do. But if the battle shifted and someone was suddenly hurt, he was going to protect them. That’s what a guardian was for. "Speech" Thought |
