hit the party with a gas can - Aytigin - Dec 12, 2017

RE -Hearthwood River, a male elk in rut has taken up residence in your territory -- he's so bold, he's even ready to chase off you and your packmates!

@Lachesis @Lilya @Inna @Reid @Lekalta @Andre @Anastasia @Lavender @Lilliana @Risaela @Matheo @Oksana

Well... Ayti was boned.

He wasn't out looking for this thing. Of course, it was impossible to miss the smell of elk in the territory, but he hadn't really expected this much elk. Or, more accurately, this big of an elk. Honestly, he hadn't even seen the beast until his nose had led him right up to it. But it quickly became apparent that this wasn't going to be an easy kill, or something he could just simply chase out. It was aggressive, and snorted loudly when Ayti stepped into the clearing with it.

"Oh shi-" was all the dark wolf could get out before the elk charged him like a bull would charge a matador. Luckily, the River wolf ducked out of the way in time to avoid getting trampled or gored, and grazed his teeth across the elk's foreleg. The two turned again, facing one another, and the elk let out a furious bellow, scoring a groove into the ground with its hoof before it charged again.

This time, it clipped Ayti in the side, and though it - blessedly - did not tear the skin, it knocked him off balance. The large wolf snarled and let out a series of loud barks, hoping to keep the elk distracted from any other packmates that might be nearby... and also to get said packmates' attention. This thing was way too much for him to take on his own.

RE: hit the party with a gas can - Lachesis - Dec 12, 2017

The ruckus had pulled him away from his patrol, sending the pale ghost charging through the towering cedars of the Kingswood. It didn’t sound like a bear, or a cougar, but it didn’t sound good either. A howl accompanied him as he ran, summoning the other wolves of Hearthwood. Whatever the problem was they would handle it together, as always.

He had arrived just in time to see the elk clip Aytigin’s side, a low growl tumbling from deep within chest. Leaping forward the Stark sprinted past his second in hopes of distracting the large elk and luring him away. Either they chased the thing out of Hearthwood or they hunted it. But, in order to make the hunt successful, they would need all of the river wolves present. The two males would not stand a chance against the staggering beast—not if they wanted to succeed with all their limbs attached. He kept his gaze fixated on the towering beast as he turned sharply toward the borders, his claws digging into the snow-dusted ground. Try me, his gaze screamed as another growl poured from within his chest just as the elk changed direction and charged toward him…

RE: hit the party with a gas can - Andre - Dec 12, 2017

He was pulled away from collecting plants at the ruckus and the call of Lachesis. Lucky for the slow healer that he wasn't far from the scene. He came bounding onto the sound, fur fluffed and ears high on alert. He wasn't prepared for an Elk to be going rogue on his second day here. André knew he couldn't stand around and gawk, though.

A dark pelted male was present and seemed to be already down. Then there was his pale leader taking the brute on by himself. The best the chunky male could, he moved to the other side of the elk. His own deep bark presents. His thick form could take a hit or two and he could patch himself up if needed.

André managed to get the beast to look at him before he had to swerve and avoid the antlers of one angry creature.

RE: hit the party with a gas can - Inna - Dec 12, 2017

[dohtml]

The rabbit she'd been chasing bolted when the ruckus started causing Inna to look toward her daughter. She'd had Oksana out working on her hunting skills which needed to be perfected before spring. Then Lachesis howl reached her ears, something was up and Inna needed to be there to help the pack.

“Come on,” she told the little Crow before racing through the trees, her daughter not far behind her. When she reached the scene it seemed like complete maybe, “Stay here and out of the way,” she told her daughter, “I mean it Oksana,” she said meeting the eyes that matched her own. Then she turned and ran directly towards the elk. With two wolves at the front Inna went for its shoulder. She wanted to place a well aimed bite to hopeful injure the elk and slow it down.

The elk was huge, bigger than she'd ever seen before, they needed the meat it only made sense. She ran up and got in close and just when it looked at Andre Inna jumped and sank her teeth into its shoulder. She hung there for a moment before dropping and taking some of the elk with her.

A yelp escaped her as she felt an antler graze her thigh as she was getting away from the animal before it turned in her, she wasn't quite fast enough.

RE: hit the party with a gas can - Lavender - Dec 12, 2017

[dohtml]

Her father’s call had sent shivers running down the little dove’s spine, her chartreuse gaze wide with fear. Whatever it was, it didn’t sound good. As much as she wanted to flee the territory and avoid whatever ruckus was going on in the heart of the territory Lavender knew better. This was her pack; her family. She had to fight for them, no matter what the issue was (or how scared she was). Without any further hesitation the pale Stark flung herself through the trees, running as fast as her lumbering paws could carry her.

She arrived just as the elk had crazed her aunt Inna’s leg, causing a startled yelp to escape the young girl’s mouth. However, she was not deterred. With a growl the girl tossed her body forward, her jaws stretched wide as they searched for warm flesh to connect to. They grazed the creature’s leg before the aggressive elk tossed her to the side with a swift kick to her stomach. An oof! escaped her as she slumped to the ground with the wind knocked out of her. Her stomach hurt but there wasn’t any severe pain, which meant she was in the clear. For now. She struggled to get to her feet, her gangly legs slipping around the snow. Luckily the elk had turned around and was looking for its next target, giving Lavender a chance to recuperate…

RE: hit the party with a gas can - Oksana - Dec 12, 2017

[dohtml]

It started as a normal day, her mother dragging her off for some training lesson. This time it was rabbits, she didn't understand the purpose of all if the training. A ruckus interrupted it though causing the rabbit to run away but then her uncle Lach's voice echoed through the forest. She looked at her mother before she was given the order to follow. Oksana didn't know what was going in but it didn't sound good.

As they arrived into the midst of chaos her mother told her to stay where she had left her. At first the dark pup did as she was told knowing better than to disobey her mother's word. Then she watched as Inna ran into the fight. Her gaze found her uncle Lach starting the buck down. And the new guy was trying to get it's attention. It was her mother's yelp that brought her attention back to Inna’s dark form. She had disobeyed her mother plenty of times before what was one more time? Just as Lavender arrived running into the fray Oksana joined her trying to find a place to inflict pain in the beast that had hurt her mother and was trying to hurt the rest of her pack.

The first thing she saw was it's hind leg still as it stood there trying to find a new target. She hoped it wouldn’t be her as she bit into the skin and bones in the elk’s leg. She hung on tight as it tried to shake her free which it eventually did but not without causing itself injury to the leg.

RE: hit the party with a gas can - Reid - Dec 12, 2017

He had been patrolling when the howl had reached his ears. A frown crossed Reid's face. It sounded rather urgent and it demanded everyone's presence. Veering in the direction of the call he raced along the ground until the sound of snarls and a large bellowing reach his ears. His hackles went up as he saw the large elk kicking Sana off of him. Instantly he moved to her side nudging her to make sure that she was okay where she had landed. The red man's eyes were all for the elk and the other wolves that surrounded it.

Before it's attention could return to the younger wolves that had launched there attack Reid moved forward away from his Sana and Lavender. A snarl rumbled up his throat as lunged forward to snap sharp fangs at the elks now before dancing back as it dropped its head to swipe at him with antlers. His red fur was stark against the pale ground and otherwise monotone group and that made him a perfect target. Reid was perfectly aware of this as he continued to test the elk dancing in and out of range of antlers and hooves hoping to give someone a chance to do some more damage. He would keep its attention as long as he could.

RE: hit the party with a gas can - Matheo - Dec 13, 2017

[dohtml]

The ruckus would have been hard to ignore, but Lachesis’ call was impossible to ignore.  Mathéo was still inside the River’s borders that day, doing nothing of any importance, counting leaves, listening to the snow – everything was abandoned within seconds when he heard the alpha yell.  Long, lanky legs moved swiftly across the snow, the russet male appearing to find an already large group…but no one seemed to be working together.  The large elk was hurt, and angry; he was dangerous.  What were they doing?

“Chase him,”
Théo said, probably not loud enough.  Lavender was hurt.  He couldn’t tell if Oksana was okay.  The adults had circled it, sort of, and it was lurching from one wolf to another, but none of this was solving the problem.  Ears snapped backwards as he bared his teeth – and then he dove in, all teeth and loud, fearsome barks, far too big for a wolf his age.  They just had to get it to leave.

And if it didn’t--  Maybe I’ll die today.

Well, that certainly was not the goal – but wouldn’t that be an adventure of its own?

RE: hit the party with a gas can - Lekalta - Dec 13, 2017

The barks had gathered them together – the urgency in the dark male’s voice had alerted her to action, and despite the throbbing pain in her ankle still, Lekalta felt as if she were more on the mend. As such, the need to prove herself was even greater now that the wolves of Hearthwood River were moving forward, and so she moved as quickly as she could toward the commotion.

An elk was on a rampage – Lavender was on the ground, and Inna’s yelp caused her own heart to shudder. Matheo leapt forward, and without any other thought than to assist, the honeyed girl wove her own way forward, sidling up alongside her younger brother in case the beast turned to him. Her own snarls echoed his sentiment – except the ferocity of her own voice echoed to her chest before she delivered a harsh and aimed snap at the large beast, hoping to encourage it to move. If more force was required, so be it – either way, she was determined to see the River wolves out on top of this.
