You light up my life - Oksana - Jul 01, 2022 RE: Oksana, a swarm of fireflies seem to escort you this evening. AW
The crow had finally gotten her children to sleep for the night. Feyre had of course been the hardest fighting her every stepnof the way. Though it was late Oksana decided to take a quiet walk through the forest of her home. Times had been hard with Lee recovering but she was getting through it. She hoped that his wounds would heal soon and he could be with his children. She stopped for moment on one of the families trails to look up to the night sky. It was clear and every star glittered above her. There hadn't been much time to appreciate it lately. These fee stolen moments she took that time before moving on in her walk. A little while later the atrangest thing happened. Fireflies, hundreds of them swarmed all around her staying with her as she walked through the trees. The crow hadn't ever seen the insects do such a thing but it was one of the most amazing and maybe magical things she'd ever seen. RE: You light up my life - Diantha - Jul 14, 2022 [dohtml] Di wasn't ready to go to sleep, but with her sister fighting their mother every night she elected to do as she was told and tuck in. Luckily, being the first to pick her spot and obediently close her eyes meant she could position herself strategically close to the mouth of the den and escape mom's notice while she got the rest of the litter down. Mom didn't join them right away, so Di waited until she thought the rest of her siblings were at least beginning to doze to sneak out as quietly as she could. It's not like she wanted to go far, there was just so much to see and she hadn't been out after dark much. She decided to test her sneaking skills and follow mom's smell, creeping along the trail behind her until the air lit up with little golden stars. Immediately forgetting her mission in light of this new phenomenon - pun intended - she loudly asked, "Mama, why're the stars so low?" RE: You light up my life - Oksana - Jul 15, 2022 She'd never seen such a sight as the one before her at that very moment. Oksana didn't want ask the questions about why it was happening to her at that very moment. Did it matter in the Ling run really? She preferred to think of it as magical or maybe some kind of sign for good things to come. She watched the little lights as one lit up and then another all around her a smile on her face. Perhaps it was a much needed sight after the tragedy that had struck her. Whatever the reason it made the night so much nicer, she only wished Lee was there to share it with her. A sound behind her caught her attention before a small voice spoke. Oksana recognized the voice of her daughter immediatly. Turning around she found her daughter and went to her to place a kiss upon her head. "You should be in bed," she said quietly to Di. Oksana wasn't angry at all that her daughter had followed her. "They are so low because they aren't stars," she answered signaling Diantha to come along with her. RE: You light up my life - Diantha - Jul 25, 2022 [dohtml] Di was so wrapped up in the wonder of the low stars that she'd completely forgotten to worry about getting in trouble for sneaking out of bed. Blue eyes watched the lights dance, wide with wonder, only turning back to her mother as she quietly admonished her for being up. Di's ears dropped back slightly, but since mom beckoned her to follow she didn't think she'd be scolded after all. Tail waving over her back the young girl trotted behind, paws flapping loudly against the ground. "Not stars?" she asked, gazing around her once again instead of watching where she was walking. RE: You light up my life - Oksana - Aug 01, 2022 Di had come out to join her and though her daughter should be in bed Oksana wasn't angry with her. Instead Di posed a question to the crow that she was only too happy to answer. So at they walked through the cloud of lightening bugs she took the moment to help her daughter understand what was surrounding them. "No my sweet I'm afraid they aren't. They are whats called fireflies," she told looking back to where Di was behind her. "They only come out in the spring and summer and light up the night." Looking back amongst the flying insects she was still astonished by the sheer number of them. RE: You light up my life - Diantha - Aug 23, 2022 [dohtml] Di liked spending time with mama, especially when it was just her. She loved her siblings, of course, but sometimes it was nice to have all of mama's attention just for her. Even better when she shouldn't have been here in the first place and was getting away with sneaking out of bed. She listened closely as mama explained. "Fire-flies?" she asked, trying out the word for herself. "Why're they called fire-flies? Why d'they glow like stars? Whats spring and summer 'nd why d'they only come out then?" She was so full of questions, and so full of wonder. These firefly things were amazing! RE: You light up my life - Oksana - Sep 15, 2022 Oksana hadn't ever wanted to be one of those really strict mother to her pups. While she believed structure was important but having moments like this with each of her children was also important. So often they were grouped together, she was spending time with them as a group. So these moments with them individually were so important, it gave her the chance to make sure they each got the individual attention and nursing they needed. "Yes. Fire flies," she confirmed when her daughter questioned the name again. Then the questions started and Oksana had to stifle a small laugh. Di reminded her a bit of herself when she was younger. "Well because they fly and as they do the light up the night sky like fire would. The glow so they can talk to their mates," shebexplaiend hoping she'd coveted the first two questions. Her next questions involved the seasons. Oksana smiled at the curiousness of her daughter. "spring it's the time of year when everything comes back to life in the forest and new life is born. Summer is the hotter months what we're experiencing now is summer," she explained hoping she'd made it easy for her daughter to understand. "The fireflies can only live when it's warmer outside so that they can start their families." RE: You light up my life - Diantha - Sep 18, 2022 [dohtml] Di watched her mom with wide eyes, soaking in everything she was saying. She wanted to learn everything and these fireflies seemed like a great place to start. There was so much! The pup nodded enthusiastically as she looked around at the little bugs again, enjoying their quiet blinking as they drifted around them. More questions swirled in her mind and Di turned her attention back to her mom. "What's fire?" she asked, barely pausing long enough for an answer before launching on, "If spring is when things come back to life, does everything die in summer? Is that why it's so hot, so we all die? Will we come back next spring too? If fireflies can live in spring and summer cuz it's warmer, does it get cold sometimes too? How cold?" She babbled on. RE: You light up my life - Oksana - Oct 15, 2022 Oksana wondered if her mother felt the joy that she was jowls with Di. Having the chance to spend time with her child and teach her something about the world around them. Hearing all of the young girls questions only made the mother smile. Her daughter was such a curious girl which she was happy thst she wanted to learn so much. Yet she worried thst it might get her into trouble as she grew. Oksana watched the fireflies light up the night around them as Diantha asked her next question. This time she wanted to know about fire. The crow looked down at her daughter in thought. "I've never seen fire myself," she told, "But what I know about it is that it's something to be feared. It's hot and bright and when it happens it destroys everything it touches. There is smoke that is dangerous to breath in." She wasn't done with that question though. Others followed in quick succession. "No, everything doesn't die in summer. It's just that somethings are only here for a short time as they go through their life cycle. Fireflies for instance have a very short life cycle. It does get cold during times called Autumn and winter. Autumn isn't too cold. It's when the leaves change colors. Winter gets very cold and all the leaves are gone from the trees. Well most trees. We also have something called snow." RE: You light up my life - Diantha - Jan 03, 2023 [dohtml] Di was completely enraptured by her mother. She didn't often get to have her attention solely to herself and was reveling in it. She would have all these wonderful things to go and teach her siblings now. Fire certainly piqued her curiosity, but if her mom had never seen it she probably wouldn't either - and if it really was that dangerous she wouldn't be too disappointed - for now. Mom patiently went on answering her questions, explaining winter and spring and life cycles. Di's eyes lit up at the mention of fall. "What kindsa colors? Why do they do that? And what's snow? When will I get to see it?" She'd had no idea there was so much to the world, so much she would get to see even in the upcoming months. Her tail wagged hard enough to wiggle her butt in her excitement, the fireflies nearly forgotten. |
