the great feast - Elettra - Sep 18, 2012 I would just like to make a few quick notes first. This takes place /after/ the flooding, of course, and after Nina has already left the pack-lands to return home (as I have seen in her more recent threads she has done). Just wanted to clarify. If you are a hunter, or seeking the hunting role (Narime & Gabrielle) you are required to show. Everyone else is optional, though seeing as this is a 'pack hunt' I would like it if everyone at least showed up and say their wolf is 'hanging around to watch' even if they don't actually follow trough with being part of the hunt itself. After all, the hunt will then follow a pack 'meet & greet' kind of deal to try and get to know each other better. :D LOCATION: still within drooping willows, just south of their territory. will be ending in the fireweed rise with chase, which is why im placing it here. [dohtml] Today, the wolves of Willow Ridge would dine as royalty. Equally, the truly royal woman smirks with a pleasure as the fresh scent enters her muzzle and gives promise. A cow moose was near and she was alone. With a group it was easy enough to take down a fallow deer when the herds were about. Mountain goats were hard only by their abilities of climbing skills. Caribou were harder surely, but even they did not match the size of the average Elk. And here Elettra was, trailing the scent of a creature whom stood easily a full foot in height advantage over the mighty Elk, whom was surely the largest of deer there was. Elettra moved with a soft loop and her body held high, without an ounce of doubt that this early morning her prize would be won. The enigmatic woman stops in her placement for only moments, buying her enough time then to part her gray-rimmed muzzle and lift it towards the sky. It is a chilling, deepened tone which echoes from her lungs. The howl reaches up into the fading night to carry itself through the chilly air for her members to hear. It is but a few hours from dawn, with night still clinging to the world and the hunter is within her element. The woman, painted in various shades (both dark and light) of grey and black, highlighted and under-toned with silvers and gold, stands tall here within the Drooping Willows. She awaits the returning calls of her pack members before yet once more, she sets off in a slow lope towards the Moose. Towards the Fireweed Rise te cow was headed, surely to find open ground for ether foraging or a possible straight shot to run and break free from the predators at her heels (should she be smart, and know they were coming). Yet still Elettra moved on obvious confidence that by the break of day, the wolves of Willow Ridge would feast. the great feast - Narimé - Sep 18, 2012 [dohtml]

Rosealia had been set on exploring the area UNDER the Drooping Willows this morning because she was quite familiar with the northern area, but her plans had been changed. She was just padding out of the Willow Ridge den when her heard a deep call, no doubt her leader's. Pawsteps becoming faster, she slowed down when she saw Elettra about ten feet away from a cow moose, watching it hungrily. She also noticed Narime a few feet away, looking at the ebony female, waiting for instructions. Instead of padding in from the right and scaring the prey off, Rose made sure to come in from behind the two females. Her scent made it evident that she was now here. Her eyes burned into Elettra, waiting for the instructions to be given out. She then fixated herself on the cow moose. He was a big boy. And he would feed quite a bit of the pack. She felt a gentle wind blow, telling her that they were upwind now, and the moose wasn't paying attention. But the wind was quick to change and take their scents downwind before she could mention it. the great feast - Skana - Sep 21, 2012 (Sorry for the short post, don't have a lot of time! Skana will do what she can here) [dohtml] http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v201/bluepups/skanapaint.jpg); background-position:bottom center; background-repeat:no-repeat; padding-top: 15px; padding-bottom: 65px; padding-left: 20px; padding-right: 20px;">
In the shadows of the predawn, only a pair of shining amber eyes gave clue to the wolf disguised in timber hues. Skana's ears twisted to and fro as she surveyed the territory on her stroll. Her notched ears stilled, perched alert atop her head when the hunting song of her leader floated by on the cool night air. She did not hesitate in decision before she started making her way towards the call, her long limbs carrying her silently towards Elettra. She did not think her presence would be vital, as she imagined the Lady's howl would beckon most, if not all of the pack's numbers. Skana would help out as much as she could the impairment of her age not as significant with other hunters to lean on. Skana soon found the scents of Elettra, accompanied by Narime and Rosealia. She remembered the latter two, coincidentally from their previous morning hunt. She slowed her step, her senses searching and finding the cow moose. She made no announcement of her approach as she moved up behind the pack, not wanting to startle the prey before it was time. Crouching, she stood flanking Elettra, waiting and watching for any signal or cue, whether it be from wolf or moose. the great feast - Koda - Sep 24, 2012 [dohtml] http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v201/bluepups/KodaTable.png); background-position:top center; background-repeat:no-repeat; padding-top: 200px; padding-bottom: 20px; padding-left: 15px; padding-right: 15px; text- align:justify;"> Koda had lost a lot of sleep over the past days and weeks. He'd been restless and unsettled while Nina had been in their midst. It was a hard thing to live with. Owing loyalty on one paw and love on the other. He'd done his best not to make it obvious about his and Nina's relationship for there was no need to have it out in the open among his pack family. Whether they knew it or not, Elettra deserved more respect than for him to flaunt his mate before her when she'd been helping Nina with her damaged leg. The end result was that he'd been sleeping hard this evening rather than running night border patrols. Despite being in a rather deep sleep, the call of his Lady broke through and he awoke instantly. Even through his sleep befuddled mind he was aware that she was in no danger. Her call was for a hunt, beckoning her family to her for a pack hunt. The prey must be substantial and it would be a great bonding time for their still fledgling pack. The thought of an envigorating hunt brought him fully awake and he rose, stretching his cream and silver form leisurely before lifting his muzzle to the still-dark night sky and howled his response to his partner. He was on his way. Without another moments hesitation, he was off in a steady lope in the direction her summons had come from, south of their densite. In short order he came upon Elettra and several other members of the pack. His approach was silent, but he stood proud and gave a dip of his head towards Elettra to show her respect as his partner. The others he tipped his muzzle in silent greeting to and turned back towards Elettra, also awaiting her lead. the great feast - Reed - Sep 24, 2012 [dohtml] [/dohtml] the great feast - Elettra - Sep 24, 2012 I noticed Han, Ver & Namara are ALL on absence, so im going to continue on. I'm going to make up IC reasons as to why Remy, Shade & Kyrie are all not here in this post. Should the rpers of these characters come back in time before the thread is finished, feel free to join in! Look, I also made a chart! :D [dohtml]click!
They had come, all of which she had expected to come, at the very least. She had not expected anything less of those members whom had not arrived. After all, Shade and Remy were both guardians (or Shade was at least determined to be one) of the pack, likely to be watching the pack's boarders while the lot of the pack was out hunting. Kyrie was working hard on learning more of healing and with having lost their Infirmary, was working hard on traveling the lands of Relic Lore for new herbs to replace their lost stock. Hopefully, any of them would join them for the feast whether they could make it for the hunt itself or not. The first to arrive had been Narimé, which Elettra expected nothing less of. She was still a child, though fitting well into what surely would be a large proportioned body when she came of age. She was taller then she, built upon long legs and a stream-line figure, seeming of modeling qualities then Elettra, whom was both shorter and made with more rounded curves which had been gained from her life-hood training of the fight. Narimé's greeting however, was more then Elettra had thought- not as bubbly and wild with energy. Perhaps it had been the hunt which made the difference or perhaps age was settling in from her otherwise still youthful personal. Next was Gabrielle and Elettra was happy she had been next. After all, if she was to be a hunter she would need to be on cue when required of her assistance. Today would make or break the woman, for this would be the first time Elettra would see her in action, although her abilities of hunting had been evident by the pack's cache having been abundant with food before the flooding. Skana arrived then, coming up to flank Elettra. When the woman had arrived, she spoke on her usefulness due to the fact that she had led for quite a number of years. Her knowledge and back up for Elettra when she was uncertain in new situations had been her best uses. Skana had originally spoken that hunting was harder on her with age, though was happy she had come even if she could offer little. Then was Koda - a further surprise, sad as it was. Elettra had not seen as much as she would have otherwise liked of her partner, though took it in stride granted she knew fully well she had the capability of handling the pack herself. She offers Koda a dip of her muzzle in turn, and a smile. She was happy he was coming out of the shadows once more now that Nina had gone on her way. Lastly, was Reed. He said little and offered less, though her Second's appearance was a happy one despite his more so profession in fighting and fishing (which had gained him the place of second and a hunter all together). His attention catches her by the shine of his fiery coating and after a few moments of allowing the female moose to trail further out from the gathered wolves, Elettra speaks her plan in whispers. "Narime - Gabrielle, you two are the hunters and quick, I'd like both of you to give chase from behind to wear her down once the rest of us take position ahead. Keep to her flanks so that you may avoid her kicks. Reed will arc around to the right whilst Skana and I will approach from the left." Her attention lingers to Skana whom stood close to her flank. Elettra had paired Skana up with her as merely back up, so that she would not be reliable with working to one side of the prey alone, so not to place much stress upon the older woman. Only Koda and her knew of her growing difficulty with the chase and with this, hopefully Skana's secret would remain safe and unknown. "Koda - you are the largest of us all and will take the direct kill once we have her surrounded. She has no horns to be weary of, but quite the punch so don't go charging head first." She was aware that surely they had all been in a pack hunt before this one, but the warnings were given none the less as a precaution. Once she was finished, the woman began her approach. Nudging Skana as she moved, Elettra began moving out to the left, offering a wide birth between her and all seven-hundred and forty-two pounds of female moose. If all went well, Narime and Gabrielle would chase the cow directly in-between Elettra and Skana on the left and Reed on the right to which they could jump out from the sides of the cow and catch her off guard. Attacking at her sides and shoulders, it would by just enough time for Koda to emerge from the front for the kill. Now, slinking down low, she'd all but to wait. the great feast - Rosealia - Sep 25, 2012 [dohtml] http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v201/bluepups/RoseTable-2.png); [/dohtml]

Rosealia watched her leader take in every move her pack was going to make. She felt the presence of several other wolves fill the air. A few soft pawsteps and some raspy breaths of an old wolf let her know that Skana was behind her. She felt the wolf's brown eyes burning into her fur. She also took notice of Koda, a cream shape she had only seen during the flood. The alpha male. Elettra's partner, supposedly. Where had he been the past week or so? Out on late patrols and doing other things, no doubt, but what else? Last but not least, it was Reed, the male that she had given her orders to make the drain during the flood. He was the second, she guessed. And she knew for a fact that he was the lead hunter by the way he was built. But she had yet to see Shade, Kyrie, or the lead guard she had heard about: Remy.
The tiny, strong-legged wolf looked at Elettra as she gave the orders. Her head dipped in acknowledgement to her alpha. Now her job was to tire the moose out while everyone got ready to ambush. Her eyes glittered with determination. She was going to run her heart out to make it easy as possible for the stronger wolves. Her tail fidgeted as she watched the others file out to move up ahead, and she glanced at Narime. With a slight nod, she waited about 40 seconds and then whispered to Narime so they were on the same page, "Go!"
Without hesitation, she got ready and then shot forward, bolting at the moose and already worrying about her breath. She made sure to manage her air supply. In through the nose, out through the mouth... She kept repeating to herself. Now it was just a matter of time to run the prey into her packmates' trap. She had taken the right side. Rose glanced over to Narime, seeing that she had also donated her full attention to the moose. Now all there was left was: don't get kicked. the great feast - Skana - Sep 29, 2012 [dohtml] http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v201/bluepups/skanapaint.jpg); background-position:bottom center; background-repeat:no-repeat; padding-top: 15px; padding-bottom: 65px; padding-left: 20px; padding-right: 20px;"> Quietly, Skana listened as the alpha gave her orders to the assembled pack. It seemed like a solid plan, making use of everyone's apparent strengths, and perhaps weaknesses. While being paired to run beside Elettra could be seen as perhaps an honor, or maybe a punishment of distrust, Skana knew it was neither. It was the necessity of Elettra knowing of and accommodating the old woman's shortcomings, which she was thankful for her leader's foresight. Skana did not want to be babied due to any failings of her own, but neither did she want to be run ragged from neglect. The reminder for Koda to take care in attacking the moose from the front caused Skana to lift her front paw slightly from the ground, unconsciously nursing the foot. Additional warnings could never hurt, as even the best made mistakes. The brush of Elettra's black and silver shoulder against her own impelled Skana to move, though she was entirely eager to get going. Caution was a prominent vein in her thoughts, but excitement for the hunt buzzed through her mind just as strongly. She slunk down into the greenery and crept into position with Elettra a reassuring presence at her side. Her ears and nose were searching and sifting for details of her pack and the quarry. The cow hadn't darted yet, hopefully oblivious for the trap being constructed in her midst. the great feast - Narimé - Sep 30, 2012 [dohtml]
