Hunt Opportunity - East RL - Spirit of Wildwood - Feb 11, 2014 Please follow the guidelines found in the News Desk for this specific RE. CLICK HERE FOR THE HUNT DISCUSSION THREAD! [dohtml] [/dohtml]The silence across the land is deafening — the familiar thud of soft paws falling to the earth is no more, for there is nothing to give chase to. The birds have migrated to the southern regions, and spare for the sparse cry of a raven every so often, there is nothing to be heard. RE: Hunt Opportunity - East RL - Halgen - Feb 11, 2014 [dohtml]
Everything that drowns me makes me feel alive [/dohtml]
Food. Food. Food. It was all that was needed in the time of hunger and starvation that the winter forced upon him and the pack he served with loyalty. The scent of much food rushed through him and he knew what he had to do. Could he call for them? Was he far enough away where the deer would not be alerted by the howl? He would have to take the chance. He raised his muzzle and called for all of Magnolia Glen. There was @Zia who had protected him from @Borlla's rage after she had lost her son. There was also @Phineas and @Rhysis whom he had first met on the borders of the pack. Then there were the wolves he had not met. @Jaden, a yearling fae. @Lucero, the wolf under Borlla. @Neoma, the lowest. @Caniri, the wolf under him. @James, the wolf he would soon challenge and @Albireo, the wolf above James. Lastly, but not least, the pup of the leaders @Hypatia. The only one to survive this winter. The only Magnolia pup left. The light tawny man was excited over the chance to fill their bellies. The food was something that could not be passed up and his call was clear. They could all fill their bellies tonight if they acted soon enough. A small smile pursed his muzzle as he looked onward in anxiety. Would they hear him and show up? Would they be too busy minding their hunger to hear him? He wasn't really into idolatry, but he prayed to whatever was up there that they could eat. He also wasn't one for blatherskite in important moments such as the one that he was faced with. I'll always belong in the service of a Queen
[/dohtml]
When the world crashed around him, he had always had two options. Let it crush him, or keep his head above the ruins. The latter never came easy, but he always seemed to rise above it. Maybe, not whole, but a beating heart. Why in no way was he over the loss of Corinna, without Ice he was the one who had a family to take care of. It was different now without their mother, their guide who had long given hope and direction. Like hell he would see them fall apart into nothing. They had come too far, been through too much to let this winter claim another soul of the Bend. Triell did his daily rounds, he heard the grunt of the caribou bouncing off the red hills in the distance. First he imagined he had heard such a beautiful sound, but closer investigation he stumbles upon the trail of the lone bull. Before he loosens his own howl he hears that of another in the distance. With a rough snort, he didn't see it as a sudden claim. It was only one wolf, at least for now and far as he knew it could have been a loner. Raising his head, urgently he sounds the call for his pack. Food now. The Tainn didn't wait for an answer, he began to follow, roughly making his way, hoping to get there first. If not, he would just have to see this wolf who had been howling, and who the were calling to. Who knows what a twist this hunt could be. RE: Hunt Opportunity - East RL - Zia - Feb 11, 2014 [dohtml]
On this gloomy, bitterly cold day, Zia was doing her best to put the past behind her. She found it best that she keep busy. Doing that, kept any negative thoughts away, for a little while at least. The sky above her was a canvas of deep, dark gray. Heavy storm clouds so closely matching the darker tones of her pelt signaled that a snow storm was fast approaching. She really shouldn't be out in this foreboding weather. She had no choice though. Obligated to serve her pack, she dutifully braved the elements, setting out beyond the safety of Magnolia Glen in search of food. Although Kyros may be gone, there were still plenty of hungry mouths to feed. Winter hadn't loosened it's cruel grip on the Lore yet.
The Sierra Hills. Why was it that she was so drawn to this place, time and again? Could there be some hidden meaning behind it? Far from home, she was searching for any sign of food she could find, hoping to bring it back with her. As luck would have it, on this dreary day, she did find something. Something inviting. The scent of Caribou. Her tail swayed in the slightest of wags. Fresh prey! Oh how it had seemed so long since she had last come across such a scent. Her already protesting stomach twisted in a growl of hunger. Loping closer, she fought the deep currents of the snow to locate this ray of hope. However, two other scents of which she was both familiar with were carried in the air. That of Halgen, the very wolf whom she had defended from Borlla's fury at this same spot not long ago. And then there was Triell, the Bend wolf who she had met in one of her darkest moments here. As she came closer, pinpointing the odors of wolf and Caribou alike, their voices assisted her in reaching them. One dark like a shadow, the other multi colored and distinct. Shaking off some stray snowflakes from her head, she came to a stop by Halgen's side, muzzle pointed in the direction of the animal of interest. Sapphire eyes narrowed, trying to see where the creature had gone off to, but it had disappeared behind one of the red hills. With a pleased rumble, she nudged her packmate behind the ear, bumping against his side in a show of alliance as she stepped past to greet Triell. He wasn't offered any hostility, despite the circumstances. "We meet again, Triell. These hills seem to have been a real hot spot recently." She exchanged a glance with Halgen, conveying that she knew this male and that he was no threat. "Looks like we've been blessed today. It's been too long since any of us had smelled fresh prey. I just hope Borlla and Phineas are willing to share the spoils." She turned her head away, eyes lowered. "They...have been having a very hard time of it." She wouldn't break the news about their lost son. It was not in her place to do so. [/dohtml] RE: Hunt Opportunity - East RL - Rhysis - Feb 11, 2014 [dohtml] Zia and Halgen had left not long ago. Their scents passed the border and out of their home altogether. Being the nosy chap that he was, he couldn't let them vanish without knowing the sooth. Were they abandoning the pack? Were they leaving together? Though their scents were not together, they both headed in the same direction. Seeing the little good in anyone, he could only assume the worse of the two and with a sneer, the followed their trail.Being the second in command he took it upon himself to seek out the traitors and punish them for their crime. The direction they headed he had only visited once before. He didn't know the area well, but he remembered the trails he took when he had left the pack to seek out food for himself. Fighting the gnawing hunger in his gut and the snow which fell more softly of late, he sought out the missing pack members. Not long after arriving in the area, he scented the pair strongly but there was another smell which was far more interested. Food. He quickened his pace, tearing up the ground as he followed the scent to the lone male, but before he got anywhere near the creature he noticed another scent. A long lost smell of a wolf he dispised. Triell. With a wrinkle of his nose he moved forward, holding himself high for the moment he was the highest ranking wolf from the Glen. As he finally saw the three gathered, he had to decide how to handle the situation quickly. Triell would not have forgotten him, but perhaps his new scent and battered appearance might hide the truth. He would not want his cover to be blown within his current pack; they were his life source for the time being and he could not risk his position there. On the other hand, he was in charge for now and he might always command his pack to chase away Triell before anyone might discover the truth... It was a tough choice. Moving forwards, he allowed himself to be seen. Holding himself high and his lips curled backwards he strowed towards his pack members and gave each an icy stare. He might pretend to be someone else, but there was food nearby and their pack needed it. What they were doing talking to another pack wolf was beyond him. Winter was harsh and it was survival of the fittest. The spoils would be theirs. Giving Halgen then Zia a growl as he moved towards them, he turned his attention to Triell and hoped his acting skills were as good as he believed they were. "Move away, wolf. This is our kill." he said, unable to hide his accent but hoping that his appearance would do the job of hiding his true identity with one who knew him well. [/dohtml] RE: Hunt Opportunity - East RL - Phineas - Feb 11, 2014 [dohtml] [/dohtml]Kyros’ limp figure haunted him. Still he could see the boy, so pale, blending to the snow. Frozen. Dead. RE: Hunt Opportunity - East RL - Ruiko - Feb 11, 2014 [dohtml] [/dohtml]Triell’s cry was not missed – the ever vigilante brother, the large Tainn had not been far initially, having been trailing his swarthy sibling to see how he was doing. He felt empty himself – he could not look to the cubs, only imagining how they felt, and instead, he had sought the warmth of his mate’s embrace. But he could not hide forever, and so he had slunk away from Aeylen’s side, seeking out the company of the Bend’s only standing Leader. RE: Hunt Opportunity - East RL - Neoma - Feb 11, 2014 [dohtml]
The howl rang in Neoma's ears, making her scowl heavily. She had yet to properly meet up with any of the wolves in the pack. So the howl was somewhat unfamiliar to her yet she knew it was someone from her pack. Half of her was tempted to not answer the call however, she remembered Phineas’ anger and how there no way she could eat unless she helped in whatever way she could. Scowling again, Neoma made her trek through the snow.

The woman was a yearling again, caught up in the throes of angst and pointless aggression. She moved through the dead magnolia trees like a wraith, a siren, ghostly and low. Her ears laid back against her head, and her hackles were raised for little reason at all. Her jaw worked as she trailed towards the borders, mindlessly preparing to go about the task of marking the borders when a howl came from the east. Jowls twitched as she imagined those hills, and though she recognized the voice, she chose to ignore it at first. No. She refused to go to those Hills, no matter what she was being called for. Tail lashed over her back, and she raked her paws over the light bark, tearing it away with a satisfying crunch. But the feral sound rang in her ears, pulling them to an upright position. Snorting, she moved over the border, not curious, but dutiful. The journey proved to be a distraction as she worked through all the possibilities, both pleasant and not. When she arrived, she was surprised to see Phineas, Halgen, Zia, Caleb, and Neoma. The scent of caribou was heavy in the air, as well as the scent of Oak Tree Bend wolves. She didn't have to cast her gaze far to see the dark form of her littermate and the pale form of her elder brother. Her fury seemed to melt somewhat as she looked upon her blood family, and cast her eyes towards the child with them, aggression in his posture. The woman swallowed, looking towards Triell again, before following her mate towards the prey. |
