[dohtml] [/dohtml]The silence across the land is deafening — the familiar thud of soft paws falling to the earth is no more, for there is nothing to give chase to. The birds have migrated to the southern regions, and spare for the sparse cry of a raven every so often, there is nothing to be heard. RE: Hunt Opportunity - West RL - Moose - Inali - Mar 01, 2014 @Ash @Namara @Narime @Minka [dohtml] Speech. Inali had wondered farther out of the territory than usual. Well, during winter she hadn't really gone out much so therefore it was unusual. But now, she was glad she did. Inali had caught the scent and sound of the moose fairly quickly as she weaved through the icky marshes. She had stalked it for quite a while, making sure to use all the stealth in her petite body to accomplish the task. She didn't want to scare off the first real source of food she had seen in months. By tracking it, she learned that there was only one moose. Though that really wouldn't be a problem. The darn thing was large enough to feed the wholenpack and then some. Slipping back into the foliage, she moved away from the animal. Inali let out a brief howl, not wanting to make her prey aware of the danger it was in just yet. Her howl consisted of two words: Food. Come.. Hoping that she had not made the moose aware of her position, Inali moved as quiet as she could, watching the beast. She would be damned if Whisper Caverns didn't get a meal this time around. Even though spring would be soon to come, they were in the now, and now, Whisper Caverns was nearly starving. She hoped the pack would arrive in due time, and as childish as it sounded, call first dibs if another pack arrived to the scene. Keeping her eyes on the prey and her ears in tune for pawsteps, the petite woman watched the moose hungrily. She was absolutely ravenous. RE: Hunt Opportunity - West RL - Moose - Narimé - Mar 02, 2014 [dohtml]
She had heard the call from the farthest northern border of Whisper Caverns. As the far borders of her territory were as far as the gray she wolf would normally go these days. However as her silver ears listened atop the crown of Nari's head the mother growled triumphantly. Somebody had finally found food...
It was then that the silver hunter sprang forward. A renewed energy in the she wolfs' limbs gathering at the chance of a meal. She loped passed the trees at the edge of her territory, crossed the packs markers, and headed directly for the scouts call. The canine loped easily over the snowy terrain glad for once for her ridiculously long amazonian legs.
Bits of shining crystal snow flew everywhere behind the wolf as she ran along. The clouds revealed small areas of blue where the sunlight could pierce through the heavens almost as if heralding the approach of spring. Though it was still chilly weather in the sunlit world of Lore.
Narimé kept her nose at the ready scenting for her pack mate to locate the tawny woman. As she neared Inali's location another scent distracted her. It was a scent she had only encountered as a carcass, but this was definitely a live animals' scent. Once or twice had Nari fed from a moose carcass, but this would be her first hunt with a live one. The dull musty smell of the animal gave the she wolf chills as she sought out her pack mate.
Not seeing where the prey was from her vantage point Narimé was able to spot the rusted color of fur through the stiff frozen reeds. Keeping low to the ground so as not to spook the creature wherever it may be the huntress reached Inali and gave her an excited lick on the ridge of the red scouts nose.
"Finally..." Were the only words that left her muzzle as Nari stood shuffling next to Inali leaning on the scout slightly as she caught her breath. Rest now Nari, for your stamina will be tested soon. the Lagina female told herself knowing that any kind of deer hunt, whether it be elk, mule, or whatever this species was, would be taxing on her in the near future. [/dohtml] RE: Hunt Opportunity - West RL - Moose - Lachesis - Mar 03, 2014 pping @Capella a bit <3 if it's not okay pm me Pinn! :) also, should we be doing brief summary's or no? [dohtml] The war between winter and the wolves of Relic Lore raged on. Some days the snow would pause, giving a false hope that spring would be arriving soon. Other days – most days – the lands were bombarded by blizzards and white out conditions. The slender healer was almost constantly within the safety of the Cut Rock pack site, as he didn’t want to venture too far away from the safety of his den. At first the hunger was easy to control – Lachesis had been able to bypass some of it by munching on his stock of berries. However, being a vegetarian could only get one so far before it became unbearable. He also didn’t want to deplete his stash any more than he already had, as he would need the berries if he was brought another patient. While being cocooned in grief XIX had kept to himself, spending most of his time curled up in the farthest corner of his den. Luckily, for both him and the pack, he had not been brought anymore patients since he and Maksim had brought the injured Bastet back to his den. Even though it was his duty within the pack the boy did not want to treat any wolves; he wanted to remain alone. Even the company of Capella, although welcoming, was sometimes too much for him.
Maksim’s call rung out, pulling the slender yearling away from his thoughts – food! Scrambling to his paws the boy nudged his sunflower-eyed friend excitedly before pulling himself out of their shared den. He waited to see her pale head at the mouth of the den before took off with an eager yelp. Since his legs were much longer than Capella’s he slowed his pace to one that she could maintain. It didn’t take long for the spider-legged youth to get there; his pale friend remained several steps behind, but he knew she would be arriving momentarily. Stopping at his leader’s side the boy woofed a soft greeting as his pale gaze studied both the moose and the other wolves. Were they friend or foe? RE: Hunt Opportunity - West RL - Moose - Kisla - Mar 03, 2014 [dohtml] Maksim’s call rang out across the regal lands of Relic Lore – beckoning his wolves forward. By chance alone, the tawny female had been closer in the vicinity, her own paws leading her on a hungry prowl for a source of nourishment. Her days had been busy, but despite this, her stomach still rumbled in frustration. She had lost weight – the sheen of her golden fur taking its toll as it slowly began to mat, while her ribs became more prominent. Of course, had her energy not significantly dropped, the she-wolf might have for once fussed over her appearance – especially given her thoughts toward the very wolf that had called out to her only moments before. Yet trivial things did not matter. The scent that hit her the moment she came closer did, though. Suppressing a whine, her eyes eagerly scanned the area, seeking out the moose as she sidled up to the side of the regal male. Her golden pelt merged with silver as she released a crooning growl, pressing her cheek to his neck as she heard her stomach give a rumble of desperate need. But the food was not just for her – it was for the single cub that remained within their ranks. For the very souls who had given the pack so much this winter.. Lachesis, a familiar male by sight alone, one of them, who stood so close to Maksim as well. This time she awaited instruction – the cold winter wind whipped past, stinging the inflicted wound upon her shoulder from the darker Hollowheart bitch. In time, she would return the favor. For now, her eyes remained shifting between her leader, the unfamiliar pack with them, and the moose. RE: Hunt Opportunity - West RL - Moose - Hati - Mar 03, 2014 [dohtml] Last time he had failed. Last time he had arrived on the scene only to find himself alone and surrounded by an angry blizzard. He had been too late to assist his pack in the take down of the beast who could have provided them all with food. No; he had been on the other side of the territory, too slow to be of any use. Well...not this time. He heard the summoning howl of his alpha not far away, the order to come together and work together to bring home prey. This time would be different, of that Hati was certain as he rushed to the source of the howl that signaled food. He flew across the snow, sending clouds of sparkling white puffing up behind him. After a few minutes of sprinting his breathing became labored but he did not slow down. Not long after Maksim's howl rang through the Lore, the black subordinate broke through the trees of Cedarwood Forest and joined his pack in the marsh. Maksim and Lachesis he knew well, but he was surprised to see a strange female brushing up against his alpha in a way that seemed...beyond friendly. Hati narrowed his eyes at the tawny female and took in her scent, soon realizing that she was the one who had taken Astra's position of alpha of Cut Rock River. Her dominating scent was strong within their territory, and Hati acknowledged her rank with a dip of his head. Then he took notice of their rivals. They were two females, and carried the scent of their allies, Whisper Caverns. It would have meant little if one of them did not seem so familiar. Hati stared at Narimé, his brain working to put a name to her. He hadn't met many wolves aside from those whom he called family, so it was strange that he would know this one. Was she a wolf from his past, before entering Relic Lore, perhaps? It was more likely than... Hati's eyes widened suddenly and his jaw dropped. No. Not her. Anyone but her. His mind flashed back to the day they met, angrily posturing over a frozen carcass. She had easily out matched him and sent him running like a babe, hoping to never meet the woman again. However, his hopes were futile, for here she was in the flesh, an opponent for the beast he already claimed as his. He panicked for a moment but quickly regained composure. He wasn't alone this time. He had powerful wolves by his side, and that moose was theirs. Hati smirked in her direction before glancing at Maksim with a questioning glint in his golden eye. What does the man have planned for this hunt, he wondered. RE: Hunt Opportunity - West RL - Moose - Lalani - Mar 04, 2014 Lani had been moving without thought, mindlessly going through the motions. It had become a habit now. Wake, search, sleep. Wake, search, sleep. Although she wouldn't complain. It needed to be done if they were ever going to find any food. So she trekked on, searching without thinking, until a howl pierced the frozen air. It was Maksim's voice and it demanded her attention. It was urgent and if she wasn't mistaken, it was the call to a hunt. Lifting her nose to the air, she took several breaths. She couldn't smell anything at the moment but maybe she was just on the wrong side of the animal. The wind could be pushing the scent elsewhere. Either way, she trusted her leader enough to know if there was prey or not. Setting her head closer to the ground, she broke into a run. She needed to get there fast. There were bound to be other wolves nearby, if not already there. The last hunt had gone horribly wrong, leaving all the wolves disoriented in the snow, bumbling about like idiots. They needed to get this prey. The pack was desperate for food. Lani wasn't going to leave Maksim standing there alone like she had been. It was rather humbling staring down another pack on your own. She had been very grateful when her pack had started to show up. As she got nearer, she caught the scent. A deep musky smell the permeated the air. She broke through the trees to find that quite a few of her pack members were already gathered at the scene. And she had been right. There were other wolves, though only a couple. Not nearly enough to take on the numbers of Cut Rock River. As she approached, she brushed against her dark companion, rubbing her snout against his chin, before sitting among her pack. She sent a nod in the direction of the leaders, keeping her gaze low, so that they knew she hadn't forgotten their standing. Her gaze flicked over Lachesis. She had met him before, though they hadn't really talked much. Turning back to Maksim, she asked, "So what's the plan?" Her gaze only flicked to his for a second before going back to his feet. It was hard not looking at someone when you were speaking to them, but she was trying desperately to change her standing. She didn't need Mak constantly throwing her back to the bottom. So she would play nice, do what he said, and hopefully they'd have a meal tonight. RE: Hunt Opportunity - West RL - Moose - Capella - Mar 04, 2014 [dohtml]
@Lachesis - Perfectly fine <3 His nudge pulled her away from a world of dreams. Heavy lidded, she watched Lachesis with confusion. His only response was a yelp, and then he was disappearing from the mouth of their den. What had gotten into him? The pale fae didn't even bother stretching before following after the spider legged boy. He was already paces ahead, yet she knew he was holding back for her. He could run circles around her any day, and for his slow gait she was thankful. Still uncertain about where they were going she took extra care to keep her eyes on Lachesis. His ashen coat moved this way and that, vanishing over a hill or two, but when she'd come up the other side he was always there. It didn't take long for the source of his excitement was made apparent; as they closed in on their target the scent of prey littered the air. It was also mingled with a perfume that could only mean they weren't alone. Her heart dropped as she came to a halt beside her companion. There was a possibility that this would not end well for them.
Taking note of their positions, she was happy to find that the odds were in their favor. Six Cut Rock River wolves, against only two of them. Moving closer to Lach, she let her sunflower gaze rest on the outsiders. This was a game, and the first move was their choice. If they didn't bow out gracefully then they would face whatever Maksim's punishment was. worlds are ruined this way, and we've all been there time and time again.
