RE: you are my sunshine - Bishop - Dec 16, 2015 His laughter seemed genuine, but it bounced off of her without leaving an impact. Nothing to do with him and everything to do with her dented heart. Rook had laughed louder, laughed longer. Rook — she stopped herself in her tracks. Rook was not here anymore. But for now going through the motions was enough. Real laughter resonated in her throat as her friend's limbs thrashed and he made every attempt to stop his body from sliding down any farther. Clods of dirt landed on her as the dark man tossed it aside, and then he nearly landed on her. Inches away, his tantalizing breath chided her and she could feel herself burning up inside. As casually as she could manage, Bishop's glance slid beyond Kjell and to the den he indicated. When he wasn't looking, she released the tension with a sigh. "Don't let it get to your head," she mused with a wry grin, giving him a chummy nudge with her shoulder, "Alright?" Bishop just wanted to be another bro. One of the guys. She repeated this thought again and again in her head. She was not ready for anything else. "We'll see how you handiwork stands against my inspection." Then why was she flirting with him? And with that, they moved into their new home. |
