RE: observatory mansions - Celandine - Jul 06, 2016

So sorry this took so long! @Camio

Where she once would have felt a flutter at his compliment, now Celandine felt nothing behind the smile that she offered the newcomer. Flattery no longer swayed her. "Well, everyone does have a certain charm here." Maybe not the same sort that she had herself, but a charm nonetheless. "As you wish. They're never far." The last bit was added in just in case this little meeting went awry. There was power here, after all. Tipping her pale muzzle towards the sky, the woman let the song spill from her throat and into the sky. Short and sweet, she called for @Craw, or @Morganna. Whomever wished to answer. It didn't matter either way.

Once she was certain that she'd been heard, she turned her attention back to the man, as he talked himself up. A jack of all trades he called it. In her mind, however, that simply meant that he wasn't particularly good at anything. Decent at some things, sure, but good enough to teach Morganna's children? She held back a snort, picturing the Alpha's face at that one. Ah they sure were going to love this one. "That's very admirable." She wasn't going to tell him that the likelihood of that was slim to none. It would be more fun for her in the end. "I'm planning on becoming a scout myself." Her disdain for small-talk hadn't lessened a bit, but it would pass the time.

RE: observatory mansions - Morganna - Jul 09, 2016

It was rare for the leaders to get away together, so when their short jaunt down to the lowlands which had quickly morphed into a playful spar was interrupted by a call from @Celandine, Morganna had frozen with her jaws parted ready to nip at @Craw's forelegs, her head rose to its rightful position and ears perked high to try and locate the subordinate. Her bump and chuff could have meant anything (though mostly it was used to cover the fact she needed to catch her breath), as she set off at a steady trot towards the kettle pot pond. She had the feeling they were somewhere in this direction.

When peach eyes finally fell on the white woman her lip quirked in a grin, quickly moving to bump her nose against the princesses cheek in easy companionable familiarity. She remained weary of the stranger, though clearly outnumbered she doubted he would try anything stupid - and she had the advantage of being warmed up. She didn't speak at first, reserving her judgement until he reacted to her presence, to see what greeting he might use. She should require no introduction standing soundly between the two pale wolves, her look speaking loudly enough. What do we have here?

RE: observatory mansions - Craw - Jul 11, 2016

Edit: Becca's been inactive for a while, but this thread was almost finished and I had already discussed with her the outcome of it, so we've decided to move ahead and finish this based on original plans. I've PPd Camio a little in this post accordingly (again, in line with what we'd already agreed would happen).

What had once been a regular occurrence was now more of a treat. While Craw indulged in spars with @Isuni to keep himself sharp - and occasionally @Wraith, though those were rather more playful and relaxed than with with the red woman - he did not get the opportunity to wrestle with the wolf who, at one point, he had almost done so with daily. Where once he had been training her to carry out a conspiracy which was never needed, which had morphed into making sure she would be able to defend her position, now she hardly needed it at all - and the excuse to roll around and clash with her was more for their own entertainment than anything. He was stronger and bigger and able to take more punishment, but she was always, always faster, and, at this point, he actually enjoyed that he would probably never be able to best her in it.

She wasn't one to just give in, though, not without some devious reason, so when she paused mid-snap it took him a heartbeat longer to notice the same voice which had stopped her. While her attention turned toward the call, he just grunted and whined with disappointment, slumping forward on his forelegs to rub his muzzle against her chest. He'd liked being able to escape it, just for a moment, but as he had once told @Morganna, the job was eternal. Besides, @Celandine had never actively called for them before, so it didn't take long before the sparring took a backseat and in its place was an eagerness to find out what his favourite firecracker wanted.

Morganna trotted off, and he jumped after her with a chuff, settling into a comfortable pace side-by-side as they attended to Celandine's summons. It didn't take long before her familiar white shape appeared, stood near to a darker, rather more unfamiliar one, and his ears pressed forward in renewed interest. Where Morganna went to greet their subordinate, Craw chose to move closer to the stranger, tail twitching up over his rump, quickly assessing him in sight and smell and finding everything foreign and average - so, just a loner, then. He glanced to Celandine, and saw how Morganna stood quietly, expectantly, and liked her decision.

Looking back at the stranger, head lifting, Craw also remained silent, letting this man who had managed to provoke Celandine into action break the ice. The stranger spoke smoothly, introducing himself as Cain, and it became clear that Celandine had made the offer of joining Whitestone. While he respected her judgement, Craw valued his own above all, and decided to agree to Cain's induction - after the man had proven himself. Setting him a task of bringing a gift to the pack every morning for the next three, at the end of which he would be assessed again, the loner agreed and quite eagerly.

He seemed an able sort, and certainly in no bad way for a vagrant. Perhaps, if he turned up and with a worthy offering, their numbers would grow a little more. And if they never saw him again, there would be a minimal of time wasted by both parties. Either way, a happy outcome.

Craw and Morganna were quick to respond, the thudding of pawsteps echoing only moments after her song had ended. Her eyes flicked to CAMIO then, less interested in the approaching pair than the stranger's reaction to them. The dark woman nudged her cheek, and she did not fight it as she did when Morg's counterpart offered the same greeting. It wasn't that she had taken any particular liking to the alpha female, but rather she felt that the queen had less to hide. Answering the question with her own brand of silent communication, Celandine's brow rose a fraction. You're going to love this.

The former princess offered no information on the loner, opting to let him speak on his own behalf. Personal recommendations were for those who deserved them, and in Celandine's mind that was a very very small pool. Brilliant orbs watched the whole affair with mild interest - if only so that the stranger would more readily believe the face she had presented him - until an ultimatum was reached. How interesting the verdict had been, three gifts, three suns. Well, Whitestone couldn't lose. Nodding to her superiors, the woman stood and made her exit. Fate rested upon his shoulders now, and if he knew what was good for him, he'd have their gifts by sunrise.
