Yes! Hawthorne was thrilled he was going to play along. She budged forward when the stronger Selwyn tugged. There was no way she gonna just let him win! Even if she likely wouldn't come out on top she could at least put up a good challenge. Hawthorne was determined to get her day's worth of Askan-time. She had a lot to learn about him - tug-of-war skills aside - if she was going to be hanging around this place with him and other friends until further notice. Not that she planned on leaving...these wolves were good company. Along with being a good source for survival.
