RE: That damn moose again! - Blitz - Mar 15, 2018

Patiently, he sat, acid green eyes peering through sparse winter vegetation to fix onto the grazing moose. Dark ears twitched, showing that he was listening to the plan that Ravenna was formulating. It was solid. With his larger frame he would use his bulk in the final take down once the animal was exhausted. The closest thing to moose he had ever hunted was Elk. They were abundant back in Bella Coola and were famous for taking to water when threatened. His lips drew into a thin, thoughtful line. "It's condition has worsened significantly since last time. We should try to shoot for a quick, clean kill." Provided the moose didn't fight back. It depended on how much spunk was still left in it. Like the others, his gaze shifted, seeking input from the expert among them. Lilith.

Eager to see what kind of group effort this would be she was happy Ravenna got straight to strategy. Even if the leader had never hunted a moose Lilith wasn't worried. She gave a sober nod upon her part. But, after other directions were dished out she felt all eyes upon her. "Even injured he will likely flee. The sooner we get him cornered the quicker we can end him. Once he realizes he can not run he will fight. Moose like to try to stomp their victims with their front hooves.  However, they do give off a slight warning. Flattening ears, dropping their head. If we get him pinned somewhere, you guys can attempt to maim him from sides, and I can try to keep his front end occupied. At first it's best to feint attacks. He'll wear out much quicker, and you'll remain a bit safer without actually trying to get a hold of him." It would still be a bit tricky. She could annoy him, but he wouldn't be any less dangerous to anyone else as he could decide not to take her as bait. But, she believed by that point he would start to wear himself out rather quickly, and eventually the energy he had to fight for his life would wane. They could start drawing blood, and strike a killing blow.

RE: That damn moose again! - Ravenna - Mar 27, 2018

Lorcan and @Leotie remained silent after Ravenna's suggestion on means of attack. Blitz went on to mention then as he remained seated at her side that he looked much worse for ware then last time. Ravenna didn't smell any open wound on the bull to suggest his wound got infected, yet perhaps the limb had broken to the point that now with his weight on it the damage had been unable to repair.

Then once all eyes were turned to the dark woman, she gave her input. The bull would likely still run, according to her, but would not ware himself out by running until he was basically a standing target. Part of his energy would go to the fight when he felt like he could not outrun his pursuers which I'm this case would be sooner then later. It was a matter of faking attacks, waiting for his signs of attack and dodging until he could not fight anymore.

Listening all to what the woman said, Ravenna then dipped her head in silent thanks to her before turning her attention to the other three wolves in the group. Giving everyone a moment to prepare themselves, Ravenna started off. She would take a wide arc to the left, awaiting Blitz to come to her side. Her movements were slow as she crept closer to the moose, body low, as she waited for Lilith to come in from behind.

not looking for some fairytale bliss

She'd been given her instructions of where she needed to be in the pursuit of the moose. Her ear flicked toward Blitz as he commented on the animals status. A glance was given to the creature to see if she could see what he meant. She could see that he was having more trouble than the last time she'd seen him. She hoped that would mean an easier take down for the gathered wolves.

Her blue gaze was then turned on Lilith to see what her opinion of the situation was. Leotie's opinion on the woman was still out but maybe if she proved herself in this she might have a better opinion. Maybe not, the Agouti woman still didn't trust her nor did she trust the man she would be hunting next to either. His recent actions had proven suspicious at best. It was what it was and so she would do what was necessary.

Once Lilith had finished speaking Ravenna had given them a moment which Leotie took to prepare herself for the chase and fight that would ensue. Once Ravenna started she was right behind the silver woman until she veered to the right side as she'd been instructed.

RE: That damn moose again! - Lorcan - Apr 15, 2018

Lorcan's attention focused on Lilith as she gave her input at the request of Ravenna. Russet ears pricked up in interest as the dark female mentioned the idea of cornering the beast as quickly as possible. Golden eyes briefly drifted back over to the large bull moose as it continued to graze in the distance and quickly began scanning the area immediately around it for locations they could surround the large prey. However, the agouti male's attention suddenly returned to the conversation as Lilith mentioned how moose liked to defend themselves and he made sure to pay close attention to the small signals he would likely show through body language before attempting such action...

He too nodded to everyone around him and waited for Ravenna to lead the way before he moved to follow. As he had been instructed, Lorcan shadowed after the tawny form of Leotie and sidled in alongside her as they proceeded to approach the beast and circle it around from the right. Golden gaze darted across to check that Ravenna and @Blitz had positioned themselves on the other side of the animal, before he focused back on their target. Remembering Lilith's suggestion to feint attacks at first, Lorcan swerved around behind Leotie to get himself as close to the moose as possible before he swiftly lunged for front right leg. He was careful, hesitant, and quickly slipped back to a safer distance after successfully spooking the beast before lunging in again. This time his front teeth made contact and nipped at the flesh. The injury wasn't enough to bring it down, but it would no doubt start to slow it down even more... and now that Lorcan had the taste of blood in his mouth it wouldn't take much to convince him to strike at it again.

Nipped at the moose's right front leg. It is bleeding lightly.

With a solid plan in place, the former sea wolf paid close attention to Lilith's instructions about how to handle a moose. The animal would try to defend itself if it couldn't flee, offering slight visual cues as well. Keeping one dark ear turned in the general direction of their hopeful meal, Blitz gave a low grunt to affirm he understood. While more proficient a fisher than a hunter, he would give this his all.

Feeling little use for words between he and his pack mates, he slipped off after Ravenna, just a tails length behind. His inky body hunkered low to the ground as he crept ever closer to align with the moose's left side, like a liquid shadow. He was silent until the agouti male Lorcan made the first move, to feign an attack at it's other side. As the moose was distracted with one wolf, Blitz seized his chance. Sweeping in on nimble legs, exposed teeth aimed a well placed snap at a rear thigh. He ducked down and away as a hoof swung to come crashing down where he had once been mere seconds earlier. Like a piston, he darted in again, where his teeth found purchase on skin, snagging it and creating an additional injury.

@Ravenna Thanks for waiting for me guys.

though i'm empty when you go

Thankfully everyone seemed to understand the weight of the situation. She hated cocky idiots and had little tolerance for fool hard bravado. Silently, she pledged her thanks to the goddess, only adding a request this hunt may be successful... It was certainly in their favor.

Prepared as they were going to be she went solo. Sticking behind the beast where Ravenna had requested. With everyone in position, Lorcan took the first jab, getting the moose and hunt off to a great start. Blitz countered next, and Lilith released a fierce bark of warning. At this time did not lunge. She was saving her energy until he really got moving so she might herd him to a spot of no return.

RE: That damn moose again! - Ravenna - May 17, 2018

Of course Switch!

Each wolf took their position accordingly. Blitz and Ravenna taking the left while Lorcan and Leotie taking the right. Lorcan was the first to attack, going for the moose's front right leg and in these seconds while the moose was distracted by the first wolf's attack Blitz went for his left flank. As the moose kicked out his back left leg in retaliation Ravenna snapped at his front left leg, snagging the skin at his elbow and tugging back to tear away at his skin. It would be another wound, another spot for the moose to bleed out from. Lilith had took her position behind the bull and should be start running off, knew the female would guide him to a placement where he could not easily escape from. If he ran his heart would pump faster, he would bleed out faster. It would just take time and patience for the pack.

Coming up on the beasts right side Leotie ran ahead with Lorcan close behind her. It was their job to keep the bull from running to the right. She stayed a little ahead keeping in line with the moose's sight hoping it would deter him from doing anything stupid. This gave Lorcan the opportunity to sweep in and eventually get a grip on the animals front leg. She let out a bark to distract the creature from going after Lorcan to give him a chance to get away without getting hurt.

Under the moose and out of the corner of her eye she could see the blurs of her packmates as they did their jobs. She wasn't concerned about them, just her and Lorcan. She knew how these things could go and if she split her attention it could go badly for them both.

RE: That damn moose again! - Blitz - Jun 02, 2018

Patience was key in this hunt and Blitz had plenty of it. If each wolf held out and did their job without incident, then their efforts would be rewarded with a massive feast. Acidic green eyes flicked ahead to the silvery form of Ravenna, to the side and under the moose to Leotie. Behind him he could hear the breaths of Lilith and her warning bark. In his vision streaks of blood wept from multiple, fresh wounds littering the moose's hide. He set his jaw determinedly. More...they needed to do more damage and get the animal running more quickly.

His next attack was much more bold as he lunged, jaws agape whilst aiming for a vulnerable rear ankle. His teeth clicked and closed around the joint with crushing force. In his mouth he could feel the crackle of bone beginning to fragment and splinter. But he had only seconds to release his hold and pull away, unless he wanted to risk a crippling blow to his head. As he did just that, he glimpsed the outcome of his actions. The moose released a panicked bellow, thrashing before struggling to further outpace the hunters.
