Whatever he had expected Askan to say, he certainly hadn’t expected the man to say it in any language other than the only one he assumed his mate knew. His ears drew forward and back in various stages of surprise, confusion, and affection. (And a bit of amusement, though he bit that one back sharply – even if he only meant it lovingly, he knew Askan would never forgave him if he said anything even remotely critical.)

After a few moments of stunned silence, he cleared his throat. “It’s Español. Not sure where you got the damn ‘y’. Though English-speakers, they call it Spanish.” He snorted. The real name sounded so much prettier. Frankly, so did ‘Inglés’, but Askan had had enough foreign language lessons for one day.

“Anyways. Flatterer. C’mere.”

After that speech? Reyes suddenly found he had much more to say…
