RE: Magpie singing in the dead of night - Adeltra - Jun 12, 2018 @Enoki Feel free to fade with your next post
[dohtml]Addy felt her mother tremble, each whimper causing her heart to ache. Her head felt so thick, so disconnected from her body, but perhaps that was her distancing herself from the hurt that she’d already felt herself. The same hurt that Enoki was undoubtedly feeling in that moment. She’d known it all, the ache in the woman’s voice as she whispered her mate’s name the same ache she had spoken herself. The two shared a regretful thing now, the uniqueness of a pain all their own. Yes, others had lost mates and lost children but each felt it in their own way through their own situation. No longer was Addy alone, she had someone to relate to. How she wished it didn’t have to be so. The girl watched the magpie pull away from her side and sat motionless as the frail woman placed herself atop the grave. She knew the water that dripped down her face wasn’t only rain and she cursed that there was nothing she could do about it. She wanted to take her mother’s pain away, but it was a fool's wish. It had likely been the same wish her packmates had felt for her, but to remove the pain would perhaps be even crueler than allowing them to feel it. To allow them the acceptance that came with the agony. Adeltra sat, watching her mother as the rain fell and soaked into her coat. Her expression was pained, but she made no move toward the woman. She wanted to let her alone with her thoughts for a little while, let her grieve privately for Nicolo like she deserved to. After a long while the girl finally moved forward. Her head dipped down and she pressed a kiss to Enoki’s temple. ”Momma, we should go now. You’re gonna get sick. Daddy’s not going anywhere, we can come visit him everyday if you want,” she said, her voice gentle. It was only a suggestion, she would not force the woman from where she lay. RE: Magpie singing in the dead of night - Enoki - Jun 12, 2018 Dark lids closed against the soft patter of rain that filtered through the canopy as the magpie laid there in near silence upon her husband's grave, the grief that constricted her heart growing tighter with each memory lashing the organ anew with pain and sorrow. Time seemed to stand still as she mourned and had it not been for the sudden, gentle touch to her temple and the voice of Adeltra coaxing her back to reality she may have willingly fallen into the depths of the timeless darkness wanting to swallow her up whole and never release its hold. The shivering of her body only now noticed that her daughter pointed out the fact she too would become sick much like their slumbering loved one if she refused to move and get out of the rain. As much as it pained the elderly woman to think about leaving the side of her husband again, she couldn't ignore the truth behind her words. What good would it do for anyone if she too fell ill and allowed herself to wither away like dust in the wind. She could hear Nicolo chastising her now that she needed to be strong, for him and her daughter that if anything needed her more than ever now that she had resurfaced in her life. With a heavy exhale, Enoki opened her eyes and struggled to rise on weakened legs fatigued from both the raging emotions of this new discovery and the toll of travelling such a far distance on little to no food. Her tear blurred gaze seeking the comforting face of Adeltra. Nodding, the mother pressed her shoulder against the other's and allowed herself to be guided once more toward the heart of the territory. Every dose of sadness had to have its counterpart of joy and oh what joy Enoki would feel once she was reunited with the others finally. To see what growth occurred elsewhere for the pack. Fade. |
