Mountain climber - Gladius - Feb 29, 2012 Gladius's movement stirred the den of a mountain hair, and it bounded across her path foolishly. She jumped upon it and killed it in an instant, it was fat with winter and a lazy thing that had ventured out with the early spring sun. She held it by it it's thick fur in her muzzle, and tossing her head, threw it to her companion. "Here, line your belly, we have quite a ways till the top." She paused and looked back at Yela, waiting for her to bolt down the rabbit before continuing. Although Gladius's own stomach could have used the meat, she was fine as she was. The journey would be enough to feed her, the meal she would taste when she came back down would be twice the flavor since she would wait for it. She would earn her meat, and her belly would thank her for it. Mountain climber - Yela - Mar 01, 2012 Yela watched as the rabbit went across the wolf ahead of her's path. She was surprised when the she wolf through it back to her. Silently she crept up on it and snatched it up and backed away again. Keeping an eye on the female she devoured the rabbit. Then, nudging the female ahead of her she wanted to keep going hoping the female would get her message. Mountain climber - Gladius - Mar 01, 2012 Gladius nodded her head, and continued on. The trail was treacherous, but her footing was only lost a few times, and never fully took her off her feet. Yela certainly had faith in Gladius, following her up this dangerous path. It made Gladius think that perhaps she had the qualities of a leader in her, she certainly had the temperament for it. Dominant, commanding, but it took more than a persuasive manner to be a leader. Maybe someday she would be fit enough to lead a band of wolves that were as willing to follow as Yela. The thought made her grin to herself, and she jumped ahead with increased bravo and strength. There was a rumble and a sound of shifting gravel, and Gladius looked up to notice that the mountain goats had grown closer to the two. Shifting her weight anxiously, she bounded up after them, cutting her pads on sharp rocks but ignoring the pain as she pursued the snowy pelted prey creatures. They of course, saw her and took off, fleeter of foot and bounding away with ease. But Gladius did not intent to catch these mountain gliders, simply follow them up the mountain. They would know the way- and they would guide her and Yela to the peak. Mountain climber - Yela - Mar 01, 2012 Yela bounded up the trail behind the female. Gladius seemed the trustworthy type so far and didn't seem aggressive. Lifting her self up she thought Gladius was hunting the goats, until she noticed she did not move at a hunting speed. Yela guessed that she must be following them hoping to see if they new the way up. Yela continued to keep a rather good pace, only steps behind Gladius. Yela had now put her life squarly in the paws of the dare devil, hoping to make it up to the peak alive. Mountain climber - Gladius - Mar 02, 2012 Gladius watched each snowy white back carefully, as each hoof clicked down it was quickly replaced by a solid paw as Gladius matched the goats pace for pace. It was becoming clear that they did in fact know the way, and they realized soon enough that the wolves were not hunting them but simply following. This relaxed the mighty beasts into a lope, an easier gait to keep up with to the relief of Gladius. She loked back every now and then, to make sure Yela was still with her. The wind started to pick up, and it begged to tear Glad's feet right from the mountain. She could only hope her companion was as hardy in her grip as she was, and even then she felt her claws flail for a hold every now and then. Suddenly the peak rose up before them, mighty and tall. They were at it's base and it was a narrow climb to the very top, even the goats paused a moment before continuing on. Gladius could just make out an outcrop at the highest point, a flat area that promised a grand view to the victor of this dangerous climb. She stopped her tracking of the goats and turned to Yela, her eyes wide and excited as her tail arched in the pale sky. "Do you trust me little sister?" She woofed, looking at the peak, at the sharp stones and crowded in trails that faced oblivion and dared the gods. She had to know if Yela was willing to go farther with her, she would let her go now if the climb seemed too much, and she would venture on alone. But if together, Yela would have to trust Gladius to guide them to the top. A leader needed the trust of her people, and Gladius would not force her to continue if she did not believe she could get them to the top. Mountain climber - Yela - Mar 04, 2012 Yela looked up at the female proudly and nodded. The wind had pulled her of the rocks once or twice, but her dew claw hung on defiantly. She bounded after her noticing the peak, and the goats which slowed. She continued head held higher and more wonderfully lined. |
