Though peace and quiet wasn't inherently a problem Askan knew full well what could happen if Shallows Edge rested on their laurels. He didn't need to roam the land to know that it was littered with boring, dull packs that had become complacent, stagnant even. With winter drawing ever closer it was a no doubt knee jerk reaction to hold up in their territory and wait for warmer days, but at what cost? How many packs would collapse this winter just because of their leaders inaction? A few, or so he assumed. But not Shallows Edge. They'd soldiered through one winter before they could do another and then another, till the end of their days.

Askan dipped his head, acknowledging his Herald's report. It was about what he expected but he appreciated the details none the less, Lyanna wasn't all bad. Of that he'd admit, tentatively, like he was stepping on thin ice. The last thing he wanted was her to get all big headed, all certain and sure of herself like so many Tainns seemed to be.

"Good. Keep it up." He rumbled, then stepped to leave, only for his paw steps to falter. "If you do go scouting this winter...don't die." Showing concern was hard, this was the closest he'd get to it, for now.
