Nash squeezed his eyes shut, breathing his brother's scent in deep, assuring himself this was real and not a dream. There was an ache in his chest he hadn't noticed before - or rather, one he'd ignored and shoved deep. Having Chan here now forced Nash to recognize the truth: he was probably never going to see his mother again.
Chan started humming and it took Nash a moment, but he recognized the melody. His eyes clenched tighter against the sudden swell of emotion.
A year. A whole year. He'd been alone for an entire year, maybe longer; the days blurred together sometimes. But not anymore. Chan was here now and he wasn't going to leave him again. They could rebuild home.
Everything was going to be alright now.
