She felt miserable. Her body felt all wrong, hot and cold at the same time, aching for physical contact to cure the infernal itch. But when she glanced at Aleister, all she felt was trepidation. While there was a physical magnetism, the power of instinct calling her to act, emotionally she was anxious and confused, more caught up in her own inner turmoil than any feelings towards the man. And at the same time she felt bad for that, like she was being selfish and cold. Al had been so nice to her, so understanding of her skittishness – they’d shared their pasts with one another, opened up more than Flair had with anyone else in her life – she liked him, but not in this way.

 

Her eyes flicked to his when he spoke, chest tightening with anxiety.
