Enera was trying to focus on breathing, her panic making it harder to remember to take slow, deep breaths rather than the quick shallow gulps she was currently taking. She sank to the ground, dizzy, and tried counting. Levi hadn't said Woya was dead. She couldn't be dead. The pups needed her, the orphans and the leader's own children alike. Could Enera carry however many pups up the mountain to beg help? Would there be a mother present that would accept so many extra mouths? Could Enera do anything to help if Woya was taken from them the same way her own mama was?
