It was a damned good thing that she caught one. For he dove in afterwards, as the nearby fish scattered from her movement. He hoped that in the frenzy, he might catch one.

Only he was rewarded with nothing. Just frozen to his core now by the frigid waters.

With visible agitation, he dragged himself back onto shore. Empty handed. Disgruntled, tired, hungry. He'd be damned if he took from her though. She had earned her first fish well and truly. He stumbled a few steps away from her moment of gloating to shake out his coat from the worst of the drenched tufts.

Look at you, cubbin'. He grumbled as he offered a look through one eye. The other currently squeezed shut to avoid the water that still trickled down his face.

He was proud of her, even if his current state suggested otherwise.

Llinnea's smile slowly faded as Loach dragged himself free of the water without a fish to show for his own hunt. He merely grumbled what she thought might have been meant to be a congratulations as he shook the water from his fur. It wasn't the warm affirmation she'd gotten used to from her mother and Archer - not that she'd gotten either in the most recent months.

The pup glanced back to the water, considering going back in to try and catch a second one, but the chill was setting in now and she shook herself out without thinking much about it. She looked to her fish, then to Loach, and picked it up dropped it as his feet in a clear offering. He'd fed her, when he'd caught the hare. It was only fair that she offer her first catch to him, too.

Nope. No. Not in a million years.

The first thing you gotta learn, is only you come first out here, cubbin'. Look out for yourself above all. He removed himself from the fish and her all at once. Not about to feast upon it when she had hunted it fully this time. He could stand to go another day or two without.

Eat up. I'm gonna go scout out the area, yeah?

He grunted, prepared to stalk off already.

She was getting incredibly mixed messages here. He'd put her first upon their meeting, catching the first food she, at least, had seen in days and insisting she eat it. Here he was doing the same, even by telling her to put herself first. She was confused, but supposed he knew best. He was the one out here by himself before she was, after all, and he was a grown up. She merely blinked at him as he stepped away, watching him as he wandered off. She would ask him what 'scout' was when he got back.

For now, she would eat her fish and enjoy both the food and the break. Maybe she'd start digging a shelter into one of the deeper snowbanks. If she had the energy.
