Wanderlust - Corinna - Aug 15, 2010 [dohtml] Gone TomorrowWalking would seem like the last thing that Cori would want to be doing. Ever since she left her home a few months ago, that is all she'd been doing. Walking, running, eating, sleeping, repeat. That was her life at this particular moment in time. When she arrived in Relic Lore, she had been hoping that maybe she could break the cycle and make some acquaintances, even find a new home. As of this moment, that particular search had been fruitless, due to the forest fire, but she still had hope. She would track down the Swift River wolves in their new location and seek out their leader to seek permission. Eventually. There was no real rush other than her desire for company, and right now, she had Weldering. Turning her head curiously, her ears perked in interest at the mention of a second pack. This was new information. She supposed that in all her exploration, she had been so focused on the Swift River wolves, that she hadn't really thought much about other wolf packs forming. Though...thinking about it, the population of Relic Lore had seemed to climb dramatically since she had first arrived. Swift River couldn't support them all, that was for sure. "I didn't know about the mountain pack...that's definitely good to know," she returned, smiling in gratitude. If things didn't go well with the leader of the Swift River pack, then maybe she could make her way up the mountains. Though, casting her eye off in the direction of the peak, she couldn't help but be a bit dismayed. "I'm not particularly fond of mountains, though. I'm always afraid that I'm going to just fall off the edge." It was a weird phobia, a twisted spin on the typical acrophobia, but it was one of her curses in life. "So, what will you do then? If you can't join either of the two packs?" It was a question she asked in part because she was curious about his plans, but in part, she wanted to seek out a possible solution to her predicament as well. Maybe he was significantly older than she was, though she didn't think he looked it. But there was a definite wisdom to his words that resonated with her. Not rushing into joining a pack was definitely a smart move on his part. She hadn't felt like she was rushing into anything, after all, she had been in Relic Lore a couple of weeks already and hadn't yet made her move. But, truth be told, she really didn't know anything about the wolves she wanted to join. She just knew that she wasn't cut out to live the life of a loner forever. "I'm not really sure, I guess it wouldn't hurt to check them both out. I just don't like being lonely all the time, ya know?" she asked him, smiling. While their encounter was just a chance one, she appreciated his company. There was a security that came from being with others, and while she would have been okay taking the morning walk on her own, she was happy that she didn't have to, and she proceeded to tell him so. "Thanks for coming with me, on this walk. I'm sure you probably had better things to do this morning, but it was nice to not have to go alone." She smiled at him, tail wagging behind her. She was still young, and the simple things in life were what made her happy. "So. Where are you off to next, Weldering?" Wanderlust - Weldering - Sep 03, 2010 [dohtml]

It stung, in the sense that it meant that she would have to be on her own again, but what could she do? She was a lone wolf, she had absolutely no reason to expect him, or anybody else for that matter, to stick around. She wasn't exactly going places. She was simply wandering through the forest, her head up in the clouds, waiting for Fate to decide what it was it wanted to do with her. He offered no invitation for her to follow him, so she merely watched, returning his smiles and a dip of her head in return. "It was nice meeting you too", she called after him. But she stayed rooted to the spot, waiting until he was lost in the shadows of the forest before she too turned away. Casting once last glance behind her, she turned her sights to the south and padded forward, forced to be content with the silence that would accompany her until she finally chose to settle down. |
