Was he even capable of telling the truth? She thought not. What if she had gotten here later and young Rissa had gotten into the water, with only a thoughtless whelp in attendance? As she had raged at him, the tiniest spark of shame showed briefly on his face, but it did not last. Her last warning had obviously gone in one ear and out the other, so she wasn't sure why she wasted her breath. Other than her only other option was to actually tear him a new hide. Her head lowered and her eyes glittered dangerously as the words left her mouth, with a rumble still in her chest. "Rais Rose. You are a menace and you are not welcome anywhere near Swift River, but by the grace of Corinna herself. I assure you that will not ever come, once she knows that youv'e endangered to life of one of her babies... and she will know. All of the pack will be told of your errant ways, as if they do not already know." Her voice was cold, hard and utterly unforgiving. She had hoped that the foolish yearling that she'd run into before had grown up a bit, but it was apparent that he had no intentions of doing so. Although diplomacy was her preferred method of dealing with problems, instinct and example had shown her that it simply would not work with this foolish young man. This time, as she spoke her last words of warning to the wet youth, her body language shifted from merely protective over little Rissa to the offensive. It was clear that she was preparing to give young Rais a stronger and much more permenant reminder. "If you ever come near one of our pups again, it will be the last thing you do!" she snapped at him, white fangs exposed and glistening. She would protect these pups as if they were her own, to the death. Her body moved forward slowly, ready to attack the grey wolf and finally teach him to stay away from Swift River and all who dwelled within. Her body lowered and her muscles coiled beneath her snowy hide, preparing to launch herself at the young man... Wild Young Hearts - Rais - Nov 23, 2012 [dohtml]

She expected nothing less. Not only was he in the wrong to take Rissa so far from her home, but he was both young and small. No match for the guardian that she had become. Full of confidence and strength that had been lacking in her previous life. She was also filled with murderous mother's rage. Anger at not being able to protect her own unborn pups so long ago was now directed at him for another pup's sake. Involving one of the pups in his escapade had lost him any grace that she might have shown him. At this particular moment, she knew no mercy and neither would he. She lunged at him, ivory fangs at the ready and snapped down on empty air where he had been mere moments before. She had been quick enough to close on the tufted tip of his tail and his fur stuck to her tongue as she attempted to catch him and give him what he truly deserved. She could have caught him, she had just enough speed, but she was loathe to move farther from young Rissa. She might fall in the water, trying to follow and they were a good distance from Swift River. She'd given the boy her warning and she was sure that her message had gotten through this time. At least for a while. Right now, her priority was to get Rissa home safely. With one last look at the young man's retreating form, she turned back to the gangly young pup. It took some effort, but she smoothed her fur and calmed herself, before giving the girl a stern look and commanding, "Home, young lady!" She let Rissa slink ahead of her for a bit before she moved to walk with her and side by side they returned home to Swift River... You can post or archive, your choice! |
