She sincerely hoped that things would work out for him. Little Karpos, with a heart of gold. A heart that had been hidden beneath a thousand layers of heartbreak, and lost innocence. Maybe this girl was the key, a young wolf his age that could show him what a family truly was. Deities knew he'd never seen one in his life time. This could be the rest of his forever, and who was she to stop it? His psuedo aunt, who left them all behind? Her choice was made the day she left in search of her brother, at least that's how everyone else would see her betrayal. It wasn't her intention to be gone as long as she had been. She didn't want it to happen like it did, but she'd tasted a small glimpse of hope, and unfortunately it left her life in ruins.

Answering him with a quick nod, she followed behind. It wasn't difficult to keep pace with him, as they were similar in size. The chilly air blew at her face, seeming to pour off the mountain at a million miles per hour. She kept her head down for most of the journey, but it wasn't the wind that she feared. If she looked up, her eyes might find the face of the boy she was going to leave. It hurt less this way, ignoring the elephant in the room as much as she could. This was the only way she could live with herself.

worlds are ruined this way, and we've all been there time and time again.
