The others sneering caused Kite to bristle. Very belatedly did Kite gather that this silver-coated wolf was not the sort she was used to, and Kite had to laugh. It was the only thing she really could do at the others sneering, not really understanding where it had all come from. She didn't know what to think. But it was only when the other one flashed her fangs and lashed her tail aggressively (taking the annoyed flick of the others tail as something of a challenge) that Kite found herself unable to stand for the others behavior; perhaps a flare of dominance found itself igniting within her, but Kite lifted her head some and in response, her own fangs revealed. Kite never did respond well to intimidation; she had bruised her brothers for it plenty of times, and a sneering stranger would be treated no differently. Respect had to be earned, and Kite understood then that the other likely did not know the meaning of the word. Perhaps all the time, the others intentions had been ill toward her. Why that injured Kite so, she did not know.


The others turning only led Kite to believe that she had won. The others retreat was one Kite responded to with her head lifting a bit more, but in case the other turned back in some sort of challenge Kite stood her ground, weight still evenly distributed as her ears kept atop her head and her eyes narrowed for protection. Her chin was draped over her throat, and she thought of all the scuffles she had done with her siblings that had meant nothing at all. Still, they had taught her plenty. Kite took Aponi leaving as her backing down, but she refused to be taken by surprise and turn away herself until she was absolutely certain Aponi had gone.
