[/dohtml] RE: Like a Whirlwind - Iopah - Nov 19, 2014 [dohtml] The time for lingering was ending. The sun was beaming down, melting the little pockets of snow into piles of slush. Somewhere nearby she could hear the thin trickle of a snow-melt stream. She shifted idly, hind legs stepping into a patch of cold dampness. There had been a point to this trip and she had yet to find anything worth the energy she'd put into it. The sun may be bright now, but she was a ways from home still. She couldn't dally any longer. Another shift, this one more decided. Her pale legs had taken a single stride north, bringing her to an area of soaked grass when Evann spoke. The tawny muzzle turned to the Keep wolf with an expression of relaxed curiosity. This woman was very different from her preconceived notion of Keep wolves. Sage had been bold to the point of irritation and was far less amenable than this one. Iopah didn't need to be as guarded with Evann. Unsurprisingly both wolves found the idea of a hunt favorable. There were few wolves that would turn down an offer to catch a meal together. Surprisingly she was genuinely looking forward to meeting the woman again. They had already hunted together, and after this meeting Iopah knew she would have none of the same insecurities from mid-winter. This woman was trusted now. She lingered over that revelation briefly, then started north herself. Her path veered far left to avoid retracing her steps. If it there on the way down, it wouldn't be there now. This reasoning paid off. Many hours later she stumbled upon the still body of a fawn. Born much too early and without any insulating fat it had died in it's sleep. The meeting with Evann was pushed to the back of her mind as she excitedly dragged it home |
