RE: the lights go out, the bridges burn - Rais - Oct 27, 2014

As Rais stared into those dark empty sockets, he could nearly sense the discomfort of the wolf beside him. Something in the silence told him his theatrics had finally made their mark, and when the young wolf eventually spoke, his stammering tones confirmed that Rais had succeeded. Breaking his eerie stare with the dead, Rais' vibrant eyes flicked to the side just in time to see the boy galloping off, grave and all forgotten.

Rais didn't hold back the toothy, crooked grin that spread across his face as he watched the fleeing form. The poor fool hadn't even waited long enough to see he had been tricked! Laughing, he called after the swiftly vanishing boy, "Hey kid, where ya going?! She came all this way just to see yooouuuu!" He yipped and howled as he drew out the last syllable.

Rais gave one last look at the bleached brittle wolf bones, briefly consider pulling them into the grave before deciding against it. If it were a task so easily abandoned by the devout, it wasn't worth his time either. Lifting his nose, Rais tasted the air for his next opportunity. There was always something new just waiting to be found, and Rais was seldom disappointed. He scented a herd of deer somewhere, and if he were lucky one might be sick or old enough to be worth the time spent searching for them. Letting his nose take the lead, Rais left the peculiar scene behind.
