RE: Teamwork means never having to take all the blame yourself - Enoki - Nov 20, 2014

Enoki was in full hunting mode now as her slender frame made easy leaps over the knolls that left obstacles in her way towards the young doe that now had two wolves giving it chase. How could she be so careless and let a twig ruin the hunt? 'Maybe if Mordacai wasn't so hot headed and got me riled up.' she thought to herself as her paws kept melting the distance between her and the target. Where had that thought come from? That was a strange thing for her to think and was far from her typical behavior. God what was going on?

So wrapped up in her own thoughts the growl to erupted from her brothers mouth went unheard, not knowing whether it was directed at her or the doe that sprinted with all its might to try and reach the safety of the herd and bordering tree line. There was still the chance to save the hunt and follow the plan Mordacai had set up. Yeah, he would hold the deer down for her to land the killing blow. Surely he wouldn't mind the last minute winging of the hunt if his plans were still successful and the doe was caught. Well that wasn't the case as both swarthy wolves lunched for the doe's jugular that was now within distance, a sickening crunch sounding as the two collided head first. Enoki saw stars dance before her eyes as her body fell in a pile of legs on the ground, a throbbing starting to arise where the siblings heads had connected. Scrambling to her feet a single paw rose to rub soothingly at the tender spot while her amber gaze focused on the fleeing figure of the young deer that lived to see another day. It escaped.

They failed. Impossible.. As quick as lightening she whirled her body to face her brother who was just now managing to regain his own footing, teeth barred in annoyance. "What the hell was that?!" Anger lined her words as they were spat from her mouth, ears laid back in an equal display of annoyance. It was an easy hunt and they failed! "You were suppose to anchor the doe so I could bite the jugular!" Adrenaline still pumping through her veins she turned away from the younger Ashrelle, pacing along a fictional pathway that rimmed the top of a small knoll. Why didn't he do what he was suppose to do? The plan was flawless and even though they had a small hiccup from the twig snapping it still held a high chance of success, but no he had to go and blow it by trying to be the big hero to save the hunt. What a fool!

Mordacai's amber gaze was zeroed in on the tender neck of the doe. He could almost feel his teeth tearing through the skin, could almost taste the blood dripping into his mouth as his teeth broke through. Almost. Instead, Cai's teeth never made it to the jugular of the deer because his sister's big head got in the way! As their thick skulls collided, Cai felt the force of the collision toss him backwards. It took him a few moments to clear his mind and find his equilibrium. Slowly, he got to his paws and shook his head, trying to orient himself. Before the dark prince could even catch his breathe his sister snapped at him. "What the hell was that?" At first, Cai was too shocked to speak and he just gawked at her. She was yelling at him?

"Maybe you didn't notice but the whole plan went to hell when you snapped that twig and messed it up!" Cai shouted right back at her. Sister or not, this was her fault and there was no way he was going to play the obedient little brother and take all the blame. "If you would have just let me take the lead for once then maybe this wouldn't have happened!" Cai barked trying his hardest to not let his lips curl back in a snarl. As angry as he was, a part of him still remembered that this was his sister and that he would never hurt her in a million years. But not hurting her sure as hell didn't include playing nice with her when she refused to show him the respect he deserved. Diverting his gaze from hers, Cai grunted, "This was was a miserable failure. I'm going back to the den." With that the swarthy male turned his back on his sister and started back to the Drooping Willows.

Oh, so now it was entirely her fault the hunt was a failure? God he was so thick headed and his returned shouts did little to quell her own anger that raged inside. This whole thing was ridiculous and it took all of the little self control that remained to keep from snarling her anger at him. Yeah things had gone down hill pretty quick, but that didn't change the fact that he was family. Family worked things out. They'd get through it. Right?

Enoki watched with narrowed eyes as Mordacai stormed off towards the ridge. A snort ruptured from her muzzle as he did so, returning to her previous act of pacing while grumbling incoherently under her breath out of frustration. Mordacai's words now echoed in her thoughts long after he stormed off to return to the den. "If you would have just let me take the lead for once then maybe this wouldn't have happened!" Was that what had been bugging him this entire time? He wanted a chance to lead? Enoki shook her head and stopped as quickly as she did, the stars beginning to dance before her eyes again. Yeah, there was definitely gonna be a bruise on her head tomorrow. If he wanted to lead so badly he should have talked it out with her instead of letting things happen the way they did. If he laid things out on the table they would be eating fresh meat right now and not be waking up with a splitting headache later. Ugh, if only he would grow up a little more. Clearly the years apart had done little to mature the younger Ashrelle. Now that the two were at odds with each other, how would life be living side by side? This thought now plagued her mind as she followed the path back to the drooping willows. With all this anger bubbling and nothing left to do now that all the deer had fled the meadow a nap in the solitude of her own den was the only thing that sounded decent. So much for having a good day.
