RE: The Waiting Game - Jessie - Mar 22, 2015 [dohtml] At that moment, with her personal feelings set aside, Jessie was patient with her pupil, not bothering to smother her business-like glare. When the words came, the Scout's brain connected all the dotes in order. Hervok....Ash Hervok....Whisper Caverns. She continued to remain silent, her brain continuing to run wild. Lady Lagina...and Sloane...trustworthy. Ash connected with them and Nina is his sister. When Drestig spoke again, Jessie's calculated eyes locked with his again, the new information that much more useful. Ruiko...Nina under him...Copper Rock Creek, subordinate, healer. Ah, she remembered now. Her brain flashed back to a distant memory. Hotei had wanted to visit his brother and Jessie had accompanied him. It made sense. Nina was definitely not lying, the emotional attachment made sense. She sighed, disappointment evident within it, her jaw locked. The news would not bode well with Triell or Hotei. With this thought in mind, in a brief, thoughtless sign of compassion, Jessie touched her nose lightly against Drestig's shoulder, her voice soft, "Let's go home, Dres. We've been gone for long enough." And so they continued on, making their way towards the mountains, her shoulders squared defiantly against the world, letting it know that she hadn't given up. Not yet. She felt her pupil moving with her, they were one unit then. She was surprised at how unguarded she felt, that he had actually earned a shred of trust from her. She briefly wondered, how long will that trust last? |
