RE: Fancy a swim? - Gent - Aug 19, 2015

@Astraeus still your turn next, just posting so that the thread doesn't get deaded again. (:

As Raela came over to his side, Gent reclined. His pale eyes ventured from her face, shining with genuine approval, to Aeus' and then back down to the morsels he had captured. Simultaneously as Raela scooped up her chosen meal, he leaned down to pick up his own before swinging his front end away from the last remaining fish and laying down so that he faced Raela's side.

"Was the easiest meal to get when I was on my own," he said in response to her praise. Memories surfaced of Chulyin teaching him a few fishing tricks when they had gone on their scouting trip together north of Hollow Heart Keep, but the man pushed these thoughts back away from his conscious. Dwelling on nostalgia was never truly appropriate, and it was a sin he was having a hard time fighting, but he especially would not let it win in the presence of Raela and Astraeus.

Mind once more pleasantly cleared, Gent tucked into his food, holding the limp, scaled creature pinched between his forepaws and carefully picking at it with his teeth. The man was very particular about what pieces of the fish he was willing to consume, and this was evident in the way he ate. When Raela spoke again, his eyes and ears moved to focus in on her while his fangs continued working their magic.

Call this place? She wanted them to name it? His gaze glazed over the area, taking it all in once again. He supposed that would make sense, especially if it was somewhere that they wanted to come back to or bring others to. Still, Gent wasn't exactly an imaginative or even artful type, and thus any ideas for a christening completely escaped him. At a loss, he looked over at Aeus, silently offering the floor up to him should he have any input.

OOC: I've been given permission to PP Aeus here to end the thread.

Everyone was finally settled. She took in Gent's response with a quick grin and a glimmer in her eye. It occurred to her that nearly every wolf here had to have spent some amount of time on their own before, but she hoped Gent's time was over quickly. Not that there was any doubt in her mind that he was an excellent survivalist. If there was a wolf who had little to fear from being alone, it was the great dark beast looking at her now. Creativity, however, didn't appear to be the man's strong suit. In response to her prompt all that he offered was a blank stare. Immediately the attention shifted to the more earthy-toned male, but he didn't seem to be any closer to reaching a decent conclusion. Raela smirked. Well at least they hadn't called her silly for asking.

Now it was undoubtedly up to her though as the men devoured the afternoon's catch. Hmmmm... She returned her sunny eyes to the water; mulling over all sorts of words to describe this oddity in the river's flow. 'Cove' and 'bend' were competing for their share of consideration as the woman's gaze sought out some landmark of note. The biggest thing in the area besides the river itself was the great big maple tree on its bank. Maple Cove? It needed more words to it than that. She climbed the roots with her eyes; noticing how green it became with plant life. Mossy Maple Cove? It was good, but so bland. How many 'mossy' maple trees had she seen before, and in this territory alone? Nah. It wasn't so much a cove either, and again her thoughts leaned toward the word 'bend.' Big maple bend? Well it sounded better, but still boring. She wanted to keep the sound, but with more interesting words. Hmmmmmmm...

She found her eyes moving up again, tracing a long, curved branch that connected right to the tree's base. It was hardly a branch at all; more like a section of the trunk itself. It was bowed out and down in the most peculiar way... Her eyes widened. “How about 'Bowed Maple Bend?'” Her excitement was tampered some by the silence and her insecurities, but it seemed like the perfect name. Raela turned her head back to the water, hearing the title again in her thoughts. Bowed Maple Bend. She liked it. Eventually she was reminded of the need to finish her lunch, and to head back home after this long day, but they could afford to hang out here a while. How exciting it would be to bring the children here when they were old enough! It was the closest thing to a lake she could think of in the area. Rae only hoped the little ones would enjoy it as much as they had.
