RE: To earn your stripes. - Iopah - Apr 14, 2016 @Nova @Zia @Bracken It looks fine! I'm tagging a closing post on for Iopah, which gives us the 3 final posts we need to make this thread eligible for LP. I will wait till 4/21 to archive, so everyone has until then to add one last post! PM if you need longer than that. [dohtml] She watched the action as if it were in slow motion. The bull fell in a slow billow of dust. Iopah stepped around the fallen prey animal, moving slowly through a swirl of animal hair and fine particles of cedar-wood. Her golden eyes were tight on the fallen moose and a coral-pink wet the edges of her lips anxiously. Here it was, this was the opportunity they needed and had been waiting for. She danced closer yet, her insignificant 95 pounds so very tempted to lunge despite itself. A whine started to lengthen into an impatient growl as a lupine body burst from the foliage. Iopah flashed forward as Eirian made his move. With no though to the others action she worried over the moose's hooves, hoping to keep it's attention and ready to snap should they move towards her packmate. Pale ears flicked forward to catch those last strangled breaths and her flared nostrils were overwhelmed with the scent of fresh blood. She pushed forward as the large male stepped back. Passing by Eirian, she offered a brief to his chest as thanks and to clear some of the gore. With a crooning bark for the others to join her, Iopah began the feast, sure that @Koda was only moments behind her. RE: To earn your stripes. - Koda - Apr 22, 2016 Might as well tack on an ending for Koda too. [dohtml] Silence engulfed him as he ran, feeling the rush of freezing wind beneath his paws while eyes were locked and trained on the fleeing bull--there was nowhere left for it to go, and on its trail was a pack of fresh, determined and hungry wolves. He made it a point to keep the bull on a straight path so that it would not attempt to linger the kill on any longer than it needed to be, and once all avenues had been sealed and the opportunity to strike felt right, the bulky male made his strike. As usual, he was successful. He felt the pure strength of the bull beneath him as it bucked and fought with what remained of its strength to ward off the hungry beasts but it was literally game over--Broken Timber Pines had won. He shifted his position and in his line of sight was Eirian, and with a swiftness that often came with youth, he bit into the neck of the moose and heard the cry that was the end all tale of their victory, the sound of sputtering and gurgling could be heard somewhere in the distance while the creature struggled to maintain a flow of oxygen. Without missing a beat Koda moved from the shoulder of where his sheer weight was keeping the moose down and allowed his own teeth the feel the fragile bones of the moose's throat and before long, it was limp and lifeless, and ready for devouring. He stood for a moment or two after releasing his grip, his round ears tuned in to the heavy panting that could be heard all around them as he caught his breath, he had never been more proud of the wolves that had so quickly become his family. They were what would continue to make Broken Timber Pines a threat, and he knew that with time and expansion would ne needed beyond the Secret Falls. "I couldn't have found a more perfect team to hunt with." he spoke, finally catching his breath and eased in to where Iopah had gone to finally dine into what they'd worked so hard for. He had earned this, and had earned the respect of those who had followed him. RE: To earn your stripes. - Zia - Apr 25, 2016 OOC: Making this brief. With the hunt over and the mighty moose fallen, the pack had won their prize. Blood was thick in the air, splattering the ground and the wolves muzzles alike. Tail high in excitement over their victory, Zia stood proud over the fallen body. The moose had been doomed from the start. Any animal with such an obvious injury was a guaranteed target for a hungry predator. The Pines wolves had just taken the liberty of doing the beast a favor, by ending it's suffering. Sapphire eyes flicking from face to face, a smile was etched upon her maw. This was the first hunt she had participated in with these wolves, and as she had hoped, it had gone smoothly. Proof that they were a cohesive unit, able to work together to bring down such a large prize like this. Sides heaving, her tongue draped past her lips, Zia took a few extra moments to catch her breath. As eager as she was to feast, she needed to settle first. Sharp pivots of her ears and keen glances into the trees assured that no scavengers were foolish enough to encroach on the pack and their kill. Satisfied, she waited for Iopah and Koda to take their first bites, before helping herself. Stepping forward to an open spot by the haunches, she tore in to the hide, welcoming the rush of warmth that flooded into her mouth. They would eat until their hearts content. |
