RE: Whitestone Monadnock Pack Thread - Saradathia - Dec 31, 2016 [dohtml] The small female trekked quietly up the goat trail, her tail swaying behind her as she had completed her daily ritual of watching the sun rise and set, though the hazy blanket of clouds had caused the latter experience to be duller than usual, unable to watch the golden ball of light drift unobstructed over the horizon. A soft sigh escaping as the huntress thought over the pack’s progression and the cold grip of winter that surrounded them. Though it reminded her greatly of home, Saradathia had a lot more to be grateful for this time. A good strong pack, even a relative, her sister no less had found her way within Whitestone’s embrace.
Pausing mid stride upon the rocks as voices caught her attention, feeling a little more social than usual, Saradathia started further up the Monadnock instead of stopping at the den’s entrance. Catching the tail end of Piety’s comment the scarred wolf glanced upwards toward the sky. “Well, the view above might be gone, but there’s always a great view below.” she said quietly, coming upon Lorcan’s other side and glancing downward toward the snow covered plains “There’s a lot of subtly beauty in the way the snow covers the land, rocks jutting out here and there, it really makes a unique scene.” becoming used to most of the pack’s ways of close contact, Saradathia decided to test it, settling down next to Lorcan’s flank, in a sphinx like position to where their sides could brush "it’s a scene that's best enjoyed with family.”
RE: Whitestone Monadnock Pack Thread - Lorcan - Dec 31, 2016 [dohtml] Lorcan nodded silently to her initial question, glancing across to the pale female briefly before his golden eyes settled back despondently on the tundra. Her reassuring words did comfort him a little though and he couldn’t help the shy smile which threatened to grow wide across his face. Feeling his cheeks grow warm, for he felt truly flattered by her kind words, he pressed his ears back against his head as he tried to remain serious and composed. “I know but…I should be able to provide other services to the pack.” He began, glancing back to @Piety with furrowed brows. “Today’s the second time recently that I’ve failed to catch anything out on the lowlands..” He admitted, black-tipped tail flicking with frustration. [/dohtml]
As he felt her chin rest gently on his shoulder, his russet ears tilted towards her to listen whilst she spoke but his nostrils flared at another familiar scent in the air. Lifting his head up to turn towards @Saradathia who he could now make out was approaching them through the darkness, Lorcan offered the younger female a quiet whine in greeting. Sighing, doing his best to push away his sad thoughts, the agouti male forced a smile to grace his features in response to Saradathia’s optimism. “Mmhmm” He hummed in agreement as his golden eyes followed her smaller figure as he moved to settle on the other side next to him, although his failure still bugged him. Realising that Saradathia had returned back late to the monadnock as well, he decided to ask her how she had been faring in the hunting department since it was her specialty. “How have your hunting trips been going? Had much luck on the lowlands recently?” He asked curiously, readying himself for the moment she made him look a fool by declaring that she was having no problems at all. RE: Whitestone Monadnock Pack Thread - Piety - Dec 31, 2016 [dohtml] STORY BOOKS ARE FULL OF FAIRY TALES
OF KINGS AND QUEENS AND THE BLUEST SKIES MY HEART IS TORN JUST IN KNOWING YOU'LL SOMEDAY SEE THE TRUTH FROM LIES He admitted what truly was the matter and her brows furrowed too. "That seems a little odd, I will admit. But two times doesn't mean forever." A smile hopeful smile painted her face. She wanted nothing but the best for her packmates. Is that not what any good member would want? It appeared they weren't alone. The voice of Saradathia was heard and Piety lifted her head. A brow raised at the woman's suggestion. Look to the land? It was dark. What could they possibly see? Silhouettes perhaps but not much more than that. The pale Santoro had to admit she was rather happy when Lorcan engaged conversation. Sara had planted herself on the side of Lorcan, so Piety's nose was practically in her coat. The Santoro pulled back. Rolling onto her side. Her body faced mostly away from them. She would keep silent and merely listen to what they chattered about. Her eyes caught one bundle of stars, through the clouds that broke but she didn't point it out. They were in the middle of a conversation, after all, it would be rather rude to interrupt. And Piety was certainly not one to be rude to the wolves she now lived with. It wouldn't be right. "speech" RE: Whitestone Monadnock Pack Thread - Saradathia - Dec 31, 2016 A soft hum escaped Saradathia as she thought over Lorcans question, feeling Piety shift around. “No, hunting’s been fairly bad compared to what it used to be but, it’s still better then further north, the pack I was with, last year, we had gone much longer, through harsher conditions and survived, this will get better, we just might need to think more tactically about our hunting until things improve.” The arctic wolf’s thoughts drifted toward the past, with the pack she had thought was her family, a quiet relief to learn that they actually hadn’t been, and that she had no blood ties to the violent wrenches. She pressed closer into Lorcan’s side before mumbling “Things are gonna get worse before they get better, prey’s gonna be very hard to find, failures are to be expected but if we move further out, we might be able to find more nourishing things to eat.” RE: Whitestone Monadnock Pack Thread - Lorcan - Dec 31, 2016 [dohtml]this is Lorcan’s last post To Lorcan’s surprise @Saradathia also thought the same, agreeing that the abundance of prey around the lowlands wasn’t as high as it had been during the previous months. A frown wrinkled his forehead as he listened to the younger female’s response but her last few words were encouraging. Perhaps she was right: this would get worse before they got better. Perhaps this was just something he would have to become accustomed to when living this far north. [/dohtml]
Shifting his paws slightly to support Saradathia’s weight as she leaned closer into him, Lorcan then noticed Piety had grown more distant. Golden eyes briefly glanced across to the other female, seeing that she had now taken up her usual position sprawled out on the cool rock, before he focused back on the other female pressed into his side. “I guess so..” He breathed, feeling a small smile grace his features. Maybe he had been too quick to put himself down. Contented to sit out at the edge of the monadnock with his female companions, Lorcan leant across to nudge @Piety softly in an attempt to encourage her to join in with their warm little huddle-up before he then placed his chin back onto his outstretched paws and continued to gaze curiously at the view before him, catching a glimpse of the stars which had now appeared through a break in the clouds and watching as their light caused the snow to glitter subtly. RE: Whitestone Monadnock Pack Thread - Piety - Jan 01, 2017 [dohtml] IS HE QUICK ON HIS FEET?
DOES HE EVER LOOK PAST YOU ON THE STREET? IS HE EVER ON TIME WHEN HE'S GETTING HOME AT NIGHT? Piety had to be honest, she was barely worried about hearing what they spoke about. She was sleepy and had come out here to star gazing with @Lorcan. This was obviously not that. She did take a gentle note of how both Lorcan and @Saradathia had troubles with prey. Perhaps she could discuss it with @Morganna and see if the dark female was also experiencing such issues. She didn't bother straining to hear the mumbled words of the younger female. Her eyes had grown heavy until she felt Lorcan nudge her. With a grunt, she rose to her feet. "I'm tired." She declared as if anyone asked her. "I think I'm going to head back into the den. Goodnight you two, don't stay up too late." She offered a soft smile and nudged both of their heads with her nose. Her paws turned her around to shuffle back inside. The pale Santoro was careful to move around bodies. Her body found a place to rest close to everyone. It had grown cold from when she had left but that certainly wouldn't be an issue. Maybe now that she had talked and socialized some she could get some proper rest. It was very much needed. -piety exit/fade- "speech" RE: Whitestone Monadnock Pack Thread - Saradathia - Jan 05, 2017 Saradathia nodded quietly “Don’t worry, I’m used to this kind of weather, near starvation was the norm.” She said, smiling contently as she pressed closer against Lorcan, happy now that his self doubt seemed to be relieved for the time being, it wouldn’t wouldn’t do well for them to beat themselves up over every little loss they had, there was bound to be plenty of erm this winter, and they needed to keep their eyes set on the goal of survival and the victories they were having. As Piety stood, Sara nodded quietly “Stay warm.” in response, a yawn escaping as she glanced back at the male’s coat, content to stare up at the stars while he dozed, who said they had to sleep inside the den? Oh well, the pack was safe, fed, uninjured, they had a medic if someone did get injured, there wasn’t too much wrong that could happen to destroy the large pack short of the Monadnock crumbling down around them and crushing them all beneath the gold veined boulders. Well, hopefully that wouldn’t happen, it’d be one hell of a way to go through, Saradathia snorted quietly, looking up at the stars as sleep started to claim her. RE: Whitestone Monadnock Pack Thread - Lorcan - Jan 26, 2017 [dohtml]Set at night on the 25th January~ The sky had turned dark and stars had begun to glisten by the time that Lorcan and @Anaia finally traipsed up the familiar old goat track back to the top of the monadnock. Their journey had taken a little long upon their return as the pair had to stop more frequently due to Anaia’s burn paw. [/dohtml]
Although they had returning baring no food, they did harbour some exciting information regarding the caribou herds. Lorcan’s tail wagged happily behind him at the comforting scent of his pack mates as he clambered up onto the cold stone plateau and gazed around. It appeared that most of his pack mates had retired to the den for the night, though Lorcan secretly hoped that one or two of them would still be awake just so he could share his good news. Silently, he made his way past the main den and moved towards his medicinal plant cache. He needed to retrieve some Goldenrod for Anaia immediately. Shuffling through the darkness, he had to rely on his sense of smell to help him locate the right plant amongst all the others within the pitch-black chamber. A chuff left his charcoal lips as he grasped a sprig of Goldenrod between his jaws and shuffled back out from the cache. Turning to Anaia, Lorcan presented her with the plant. “Here, this should help.” He breathed before he nudged it towards her. “You have to chew it and then apply the paste to the burn.” RE: Whitestone Monadnock Pack Thread - Anaia - Jan 26, 2017 [dohtml] ------------------------------------------------------- Word Count: Though she'd had enough energy coming back to keep there pace, the thriving in her paw slowed her. She cursed herself; she'd only just healed from her sprained leg, and now she was hurt again. The thought only worsened her anxiety as they drew closer to the territory, and by the time they made it back to the monadnock she had once again withdrawn into her quiet shell. Anaia limped up the goat track behind Lorcan, wincing as she stepped on a sharp rock. The snow had helped ease the burning a little, but the constant use still cause sharp pain to shoot through her foot. The healer quickly retrieved an herb for get and instructed her to chew on it before applying it to the burn. She did as he instructed silently, nodding her thanks. The relief was immediate, and she couldn't help the sigh of pleasure that escaped her lips as the herb was applied. Only after she'd taken care of her mishap did she look around the area to see if anyone was still awake. Half of her hope someone was, so they could tell them about the caribou. She also wanted to warm them about the water... The Ember Chasm, as they'd named it. But the other half hoped they were alone, as she often was the days, avoiding the pack - and particularly the alphas - as best she could. "Speech" Thought RE: Whitestone Monadnock Pack Thread - Piety - Jan 26, 2017 She had been silent lately. Taking up sparring with @Morganna now and then. Her face still sore from the challenge. She felt a bit better knowing that she had defended her place along with leaving Zahira a rip on her muzzle. At night she found herself sleeping either in a corner or by the trio of Morganna, Craw, and Wraith. Lorcan and Anaia had gone off on some adventure so she didn't have anyone to stargaze with or bother with useless chatter. The thought of what they might be up to usually bothered her. It was the winter and Anaia had already been injured, taking up their supplies and space, so Piety hoped they would be smart. For them to come home soon would be even better. She crept from the den unable to rest, hearing a soft familiar voice. Did her desires come true? The pale wolf made her way carefully around anyone resting. It was dark and she knew anyone wouldn't spot her just yet. She had heard Lorcan's voice talking about some type of plant to apply to a burn. Had their previous lowest gone and gotten injured again? She swiftly moved towards the duo with a low chuff. "Glad to see you home. Hoped there would be no injuries but I guess injuries are better than death." |
