RE: Hunt Opportunity - West RL - Lalani - Feb 14, 2014 Lalani watched as the amount of wolves in the area steadily climbed. Wolves of the rivaling pack continued to appear from the trees, but so did Lani's own. She was rather surprised as Maksim came up beside her, nodding at her, almost with what seemed like respect. Several more showed, including those of a few other packs. Howl carried through the air as they called for their families. Her eyes narrowed as the other wolves continued to remain where they were, and a few of them even had the gall to go after the elk. As it turned out, there were several wolves from different packs that were eager to sick their teeth into flesh. A little too eager it seemed. She watched anxiously as some of her own pack members entered into the frey. What started out as trying to take the animal for themselves turned into a scuffle. The wolves were going back and forth, snapping and pushing at each other. Lani glanced at the other members of her pack, wondering if anything was going to be done. Lani wasn't necessarily ready for a fight at the moment, but if she had to protect the pack, she would. Her eyes searched the faces around her, wondering where her two friends could possibly be. It didn't take long for the number of wolves to completely skyrocket. There was no way that the one elk could feed this many. It was likely that it could feed a couple of them, but not all of them. The action was escalating and she new it wouldn't be long until this turned into an all out brawl. As it was, Lani wasn't sure how they were going to recover the ground lost to Hollowheart Keep. They already had several wolves after the bull, outnumbering those of Cut Rock River. That's when Maksim spoke. He turned to them and started giving instructions. One was to go to find the leader of another pack, their allies. This gave Lani some hope. Maybe they did have a chance after all. If they teamed up with the smaller packs, then they might be able to chace off the pests. Those of the Keep wouldn't be going home with just hollow hearts but with hollow bellies too. Maksim also sent another one of their wolves after the elk to join those already on the hunt. Lastly, he told the rest of them to move back, back into the trees. They were to hide, to move down wind, and continued from there. It would be an ambush. Lani wasn't sure whether this plan would actually work, but she didn't have any better ideas, so there was no reason not to try. As Maksim turned back towards the trees, Lani followed suit. She wanted to get into place, to try and be able to contribute somehow. Her eyes trailed over those that had come at her call. They didn't know her well but they had trusted her enough to believe her, and they came. She was slightly disappointed that Anna hadn't come. As her gaze landed on Quil, she moved closer. The pup was growing up fast, but Lani did not feel comfortable having her in danger. She didn't know the girl personally, considering they had never spoken, but she knew who she was. "Quil, if you'd stay close to me, it would make it easier for me to protect you." She didn't know how the girl would react, considering that Lani was telling her she needed protection, but Lani hoped that Quil would see sense and comply. Lani decided that she would watch out for the girl, that's how she was going to help. CRR wasn't going to loose the remaining female pup. SUMMARY: Lani watches the action, hears Mak's orders, and goes to follow them, while deciding to protect Quil. RE: Hunt Opportunity - West RL - Titan - Feb 14, 2014 Lost my nice 500 word post. So now you get summary form. - Titan comes in not knowing whats going on a part from the fact that he was called. [dohtml] The dark wolfs paws thrummed underneath his lanky body as the gray misted black child loped along the trail. His path was anywhere not near the older silver male that had argued with Titan earlier about staying in the den. Besides, the call from Minka had been to him as well as Tokino. So the young Thorben had no problem leaving the smaller shorter male in the proverbial dust as Titan used his mothers' and fathers' long legs, strength, and stamina to outpace the older shorter Lagina male. Titan's mind thought like so: "Kino would get there eventually..." but sometime after Titan had already arrived and greeted the other adults.
He had come across his mothers scent and tracks shortly after reaching the area where heartleaf creek would be come the spring thaw. Knowing that she had also been called out to Titan instinctually followed the silver queens paw prints towards their rusty alpha Minka.
After the long journey Titan's pace began to slow. He could smell a lot of things on the air. Wolf was the main component. There were a lot of wolves around. So many that the young male couldn't register the scents of packs he'd possibly met in his mind. So instead he focused on his mothers winding trail which took him to the top of a tiny hill.
As the child looked down he spotted the silver shape loping towards a clump of trees. He could barely make out the other still bodies of wolves beneath the trees below. So quickly the boy pelted forward after his gray furred mother.
Upon arriving Titan creeped forward into the circle of wolves from behind his mother and Namara's rear ends. Not aware that they had been talking the child spoke up.
"Is there food nearby? Or are we hunting rabbits again?" Titan asked innocently enough. His paws gripped the snow as hunger bellowed from within the depths of his belly. He always got riled up when food was concerned.

SUMARRY: Kino shows up and greets everyone nipping Titan on the butt while doing so. Then he's quiet waiting for orders/information. [/dohtml] RE: Hunt Opportunity - West RL - Karpos - Feb 14, 2014 [dohtml] everything that kills me makes me feel alive Sumarry: Karpos realizes he might have to fight his aunt and uncles and he quivers a bit before realizing that he could not appear weak in front of his packmates. He hears Titan talk and so he leaps at him and aims to knock him off his paws. He couldn't take it. His uncle Aeo was there, fighting him. His uncle Lachesis was in the fight on the opposing side. His eyes widened at his Aunt @Naia showed up as well. His breathing staggered but he couldn't lose his cool. Not in front of Aponi or her parents. He might come off as weak. A loudmouth pup from some other pack showed up and with that Karpos took his move. He lunged at the pup as Aponi had at some of the adults. He was never too far from her in case he was needed to help. Titan was a pup and Karp knew to not bite off more than he could chew. Pups versus pups unless he was fighting with an adult. He would fight for what was his and his packs until he was commanded not to. With his time in Pitch Pine Trail he learned the cruelness of the outside world. If they did not stand up for what belonged to them than what did they have? He was worried about his aunts and uncles on the other side but he was more concerned about his pack and those whom he pledged his loyalty to. Family was forever and packs were a family too. When he lunged at Titan he aimed simply to knock him off his paws to get him to stop talking and possible run off. There were so many enemies there and he feared for his own life, Aponi's life, everyone's life. RE: Hunt Opportunity - West RL - Spirit of Wildwood - Mar 01, 2014 EVERYONE CAN POST ONCE MORE AS A CLOSING POST IF DESIRED. The elk escaped unscathed -- there is currently an extreme blizzard and wolves are forced to withdraw from their fights and their attack on the prey. They should now seek their leaders and try to make it home safely. White out conditions make it impossible to see. This thread will close on the 4th. Everyone can claim LP for participating. [dohtml] [/dohtml] RE: Hunt Opportunity - West RL - Chulyin - Mar 01, 2014 His attempt to scathe the elk had gone without success. Teeth closed around air and...Was that snow? With this realization, he faltered somewhat in his chase, only to try and pick up the pace again, painfully aware that his heels were quite biteable. But the snow fell harder and harder until the elk was no longer visible before him and the presence of his packmates was no longer palpable. Chulyin considered himself a calm man, but it was as though he had suddenly been struck blind and had no choice but to stop in his tracks. Catching a scent was nearly impossible. With so many wolves about, he was forced to turn in the direction he hoped home was in. A few hefty barks catapulted through the white blanket that certainly had them all in the figurative dark, and he hoped to find his packmates. Ears were alert, hoping to catch some sign of a howl from his sister, though when he thought his calls went unanswered, he let out his own summoning sound. It was some time and distance before he found the dark presences of trees around him and finally paused. The elk was gone, and if it was not, he cursed those that were fool enough to continue after it. And it was among the trees that he waited to be reunited with his pack. /chulyin exits RE: Hunt Opportunity - West RL - Inali - Mar 01, 2014 [dohtml] Speech. Greetings were exchanged, strategies talked about, and choas ensued. But in the end, nothing had been settled. Right as she was about to annouce 'screw it all' and join the chase, a snowstorm appeared out of nowhere. Snow started coming down. Hard. One moment Inali was standing next to Minka, te next she was surrounded by blurring white. She tried to bark, but the storm just swallowed it. Trying not to panic, Inali started to jog away, trying to find her way out of the storm. It just got worse, until Inali could barely see one paw going in front of the other. Fuck it, she reasoned in her mind, the panic consuming her. Breaking into a hard run, she prayed to the Fates to let her get out of this alive. She didn't know where she was headed, and frankly, she didnt care. Her only wish was to get out of this horrendous storm. Inali didn't know how much time passed until she noticed she had begun to weave through trees. Stopping in her tracks, her eyes adjusted to her surroundings. The snow was still flurring all around her, but she wasnt at the thick of it anymore. Breathing deep, shelet loose a howl that ricocheted through the forest. Inali hoped her pack mates heard her urgency. She wanted to see them all in one piece, because the sooner they appeared, the sooner they could get back to the saftey the Caverns provided them with. Letting loose another howl, the woman tried to forget that she was surrounded by snow and on unfamiliar lands. {Inali exit} RE: Hunt Opportunity - West RL - Eek - Mar 01, 2014 [dohtml]

RE: Hunt Opportunity - West RL - Maksim - Mar 02, 2014 [dohtml] As they crept through the tree line, a hideous storm had decided that they would still be hungry today. Fuck. It seemed as if it happened immediately and Maksim snarled in frustration. They would all be without a warm meal in their bellies. The thought incensed him. That elk had been so close but now it was fleeing and the snows were blinding the wolves of the Lore. Without another thought, Maksim raised his head and released a summoning howl. All the Cut Rock River wolves were to retreat immediately; it was not worth risking their lives for. Anger had settled into his bones and he damned the whole world. Maksim waited for the others to join the small group before he turned and snapped his orders loud enough for the wolves to hear him. “Stay close—do not stray too far, unless you are wishing for a slow and icy death!” Without another word, he began to push through the snows, leading the wolves of Cut Rock River to their territory. He wasn't an expert tracker but he knew the way, even blinded by swirling powdered snow. It would take quite a while to make the journey back home, that much the River king was sure about, and each wolf would need to rest immediately. This had been a tense ordeal for all involved and energy had been burnt up, wasted chasing a now impossible meal. No doubt there would be quite a few cases of aching paws. The agouti leader could only pray that frost bite would not settle in. /Maksim exit |
