Hit me with your flashbulb eyes - Noble - Sep 07, 2015 looking for anyone one (besides Iopah) BTP wolf to join, may be a pup! the date change be adjust to fit with any new joiners Late Evening, Partly cloudy, 59°F/15°C Broken Timber Pines, Noble has come to try and steal from you! [dohtml] It was impossible to fill her stomach faster than it emptied. Certainly she had tried. The yearling tried with every prey animal she came across. The fleet deer, wary pheasants, and even a tenacious woodchuck had all evaded her. The only thing she'd managed to catch in a week's time was a catfish she'd spent two hours chasing from an evaporating marsh bed. She was surly, thirsty and starving, by the time she reached the water fall. It was then that she'd noticed the increasing frequency of wolf signs. There were tracks and even the unmistakable scent of the inhabitants along certain routes. It was too many and too strong to be random loners. That first day, after slaking her thirst, she got to work. The Falls were perfect for washing the scent from her coat, the water was swift and it stripped every last trace from her pelt. In all likelihood Noble was the cleanest now that she had been in several months. She explored every off shoot of the river, learning which brought her closer to the distant pack. In that manner she studied the forest pack for several days. She would bathe in the falls at sunrise and wade along the streams before disguising her coat with the mud that lined the shore. On the fourth evening she waited until sunset approached and shadows obscured the forest. With a deep breath the yearling loped up to the now-familiar borders, took a quick glance around, and stepped into the land that belonged to Broken Timber Pines. She made for strongest scent of prey, keeping her body low and swift. Who knew what kind of wolves lived here? RE: Hit me with your flashbulb eyes - Koda - Sep 30, 2015 [dohtml] The pale leader had noticed the subtle scent of trespasser on the wind and increased his border patrols as frequently as he could in hopes of intercepting the obnoxious guest. Though their land was plentiful with food, he was not interested in sharing anything with a freeloader who thought so little of their heavily scented borders, if anything he thought it a perfect time to send the wolf a message in case they were with others. On this particular evening he kept close to the fallen over trees, their thick trucks concealing him as he tracked the female scent that he once lingered strongest near the Secret Falls and could now be sensed at the center of the land. She was much too close, and he was not afraid to use force to scare her off. His movements were quick, golden rod colored eyes watching and waiting for the young woman to make her brave walk across that invisible line that jeopardized her safety--if she were paying attention, she would know that someone were stalking her. His tail slashed slow behind him as the dark youth made her brave step into their packland and he wondered for a moment if she had been raised by coyotes instead of wolves; everyone knew to obey pack borders. He watched as her body slunk low to the ground as if in search of something, perhaps someone, and the male took this opportunity to intercept her before she actually caught whiff of nearby prey. "You are either an incredibly insane brave wolf, or desperate. Which one is it?" he questioned as his paws made their slow steps from the shadows near her. She was smaller then him naturally, and considering the fluffiness of her coat, a yearling at best. He would hesitate a moment on attacking her, if only to ensure that unnecessary chaos did not ensue and perhaps for entertainment purposes; did she actually have an excuse for attempting to steal from the mouths of his children? His head tucked within his shoulders to make himself seem larger before a steady flow of slow growls erupted from his mouth in warning. Re: - Spirit of Wildwood - Sep 30, 2015 There is a family of deer nearby. Hunt Opportunity RE: Hit me with your flashbulb eyes - Eirian - Sep 30, 2015 Apologies for any inconsistencies in his personality as I try to figure it out fully. [dohtml] It wasn't long since the lone Asurn had cast aside his days of solitary scouting for the mother pack to begin a new mission. No longer would meandering aimlessly around the lore serve purpose in determining this large expanse of land worthy of yielding a future splinter. The time for plan B to begin arose with the infamous oath of swearing one's loyalty to others, working the job from the inside becoming the new side mission. If he could come to learn more about these unholy creatures and their ways, the easier it would be to guide their lost sheep souls to the sheppard and his crook. For now, Eirian would have to remain low and play his part as the dutiful subordinate. Curiousness had once again come to take up residence within the dark Asurn's mind, though, as the most peculiar perfume began to seep its aromatic scent among the sporadic trunks of fallen red cedar over the course of a few moons. Increased patrols by the only other male; a light pelted man with unmistakable Mackenzie traits that constantly tested the dark agouti's self control, were hardly overlooked by tangerine optics. Today the very action was being observed from the safety of the thick shields the fallen trees offered, tailing the larger man as silent at the trespasser that bravely, or foolishly however you saw it, crossed into dangerous territory. Dark tinted brows quirked upward in further curiosity as this elusive scent maker finally revealed themselves under the cover of clouded skies and the receding light of another day. Sunset and the approaching nocturnal hours slowly creeping upon the world. Flickering orange optics absorbed what little detail they could see of the swarthy stranger before the ruling patriarch sidestepped to intercept their path of travel. Only a few fleeing moments passed as rounded audits picked up the string of words that fell from the man's mouth before his own presence silently came to claim a portion of open area beside the silver coated wolf while interjecting his own statement. "I'd take a stab at guessing the latter." A small muscle spasm twitching the corner of Eirian's lips as he fought to keep a neutral expression and submissive posture in the presence of his leader. Last thing he needed was to be the one receiving the pointy ends of what lay hidden beneath Koda's sheathed lips. RE: Hit me with your flashbulb eyes - Noble - Oct 04, 2015 I will post with Iopah next, but this thread no longer open to new participants... Noble has already bit off way more than she can chew with three pissy and territorial BTP wolves xD [dohtml] Who knew what kind of wolves lived here, she had wondered only moments ago. The prompt kind. It took only a few moments for the first Broken Timber Pines wolf to arrive. Noble was slinking along, letting her body hug the low-growing shrubs and brambles. It was disorienting having fallen trees so frequent and massive, sounds were oddly muffled and echoed. She paused at the sound of approaching paw steps and cast a wide-eyed gaze around. Where? Her heart thrummed a warning. Where were they?! Koda's voice was not loud or booming, but it stopped her dead. Noble spun around awkwardly, scrawny body bent nearly him double to see him emerging from the shadows. Dark ears pitched back as she stared up at him. The question elicited nothing but a lash of her tail, why couldn't she be both? The growl was something more she expected, they always growled at her. Slowly she began backing up, her plan was all shot to hell anyways now that she'd been discovered. It worsened as another wolf appeared. Noble jerked her torso in the new direction and she met the dark agouti's eyes for a shocked moment. A growl rumbled in her own throat and she continued backing up, now pushing her way backwards through whatever foliage was behind her. It was terrifying and mortifying to have wolves chase her when she couldn't seen them. It was much preferable to step backwards and keep them in sight at all times. If only she knew it was about to get much worse. RE: Hit me with your flashbulb eyes - Iopah - Oct 07, 2015 @Koda is up again! The posting order is now: Koda - Eirian - Noble - Iopah [dohtml] The sounds made by the yearling were too low for her to pick them up by themselves. It was the cadence of distant voices and the rumble of a deep-chested growl that got her attention. Her first thought was of the pups. They were more than old enough to cause trouble themselves and it was a well-placed growl that often recaptured her younger daughter's attention. What now, she wondered while rising to pale feet. She started towards them with a pace controlled, if a little exasperated. Every step she expected to bring her the scent of one of the pups... and evidence of whatever mischief they'd managed to cause this time. But there was neither and, when a youthful laugh came from the other direction, her stride hastened. This wasn't the pups, something else was going on. Her hackles were raised by the time she made it to the scene. She glanced from the males, learning everything she needed from their stances and the convincing pitch of their warnings. Her own rough growl added to the mix. The woman took a step forward, head lowering to offer a set of oh so willing teeth. It didn't matter that Noble was already trying to leave. The yearling had entered her land unannounced and such a mistake would not be brushed aside. Iopah leapt forward to snap just in front of the yearlings face. It had the desired effect. With a frantic yelp, Noble finally spun around and bolted away. It was a start, but the queen was not inclined towards leniency. Such a severe mistake demanded a severe punishment to drive the lesson home. A wild, rallying cry filled the forest as Iopah chased down her prey. RE: Hit me with your flashbulb eyes - Koda - Oct 13, 2015 [dohtml]
His ear twitched backward to catch the approach of another wolf, this one from Broken Timber Pines, and the male felt a smile tug at the corner of his lips when Eirian finally came into sight. The male was their newest recruit but already he had proved to Koda that patrolling their borders for trespassers mattered to him, and for this the pale agouti elder felt his trust in the younger male grow ever so slightly. He would be a valuable asset, especially in helping to maintain the protection of those he loved living within these borders. A snort forced itself from his nose when Eirian answered his rhetorical question, his ears having now fallen back to his skull and he inched closer to the thieving wolf as if testing just how desperate she was. No matter the excuse, he would not tolerate a loner stealing food from his growing girls.
No sooner did his thick legs bring him closer to Noble by means of giving her a more peaceful way to exit, his wife appeared to give the thief a warning she would surely never forget. His eyes grew wide, stance more rigid as he felt his muscles tighten with expectation to lunge at the dark intruder. He did not necessarily fear for Iopah's safety, having known his wife to handle herself in far worse encounters, but he did want to reinforce the message that her intrusion be met with consequences in case she attempted the intrusion a second time, and to drive the point home he gave chase to the yearling behind Iopah. His yelps and barks were fierce as he inhaled the cool air of the night, his vision having grown better with the thrill of the chase as he trampled through terrain that had become familiar to him, and chased the yearling deeper into unknown territory. RE: Hit me with your flashbulb eyes - Eirian - Oct 19, 2015 [dohtml] There was no reprimand in the form of Koda's teeth clenching around his muzzle upon the unleashing of his retort, instead an ill received growl from the slowly retreating thief that filled the velveteen tufts of fur within the inner lining of Eirian's audits. Intelligent tangerine optics studied the cowardly embodiment before them, a raspy growl of his own vibrating deep in his throat. The collection of toned muscles under his dark agouti plumage tensing in desire to lunge in true fashion of his bloodline to put the foolish whelp in place by the law of tooth and claw. A sliver of disrespect in the eyes of an Asurn was enough to birth an altercation and Noble had gone beyond that mark. Yet, reality that this pack was not his to rule so brutishly smacked him upside the head when movement within his peripheral vision reminded him of the patriarchs presence, the elder brute inching forward. Although Broken Timber Pines was not his kingdom to dictate, it would soon become apparent Eirian wasn't the only wolf quick to jump the gun on seeking the flesh of another for disrespect. Like a hell hound straight from the pit itself emerged the pale coated she-wolf in all her enraged beauty from the shadows of the dying day. Light tinted hairs that lined her hackles stood on end as a rough growl amplified off those already offered by the males, tarnished teeth flashing in warning mere inches from the intruders muzzle. There was no further encouragement needed for the young girl, limbs twisting upon themselves in their haste to spin around and bolt for the exit, but it was far too late. With a wild banshee cry that sent a chill down the course of Eirian's spine, Iopah was off after her target like a bullet straight from the barrel of a smoking gun. No sooner did the rallying chase begin as both Koda and Eirian fell into position behind the darting figures ahead. Creamy limbs propelled the large timber wolf through the cacophony of plant species, citrus optics assisting in navigating the unknown domain beneath the starless sky. Blunt nails ripping into the soft, rich sediment enhanced soil during the pursuit. RE: Hit me with your flashbulb eyes - Noble - Oct 27, 2015 Iopah will be next [dohtml] That pale coated woman hadn't actually said anything, but the message was crystal clear. There was a fearful screaming and the sound of rapid paw-steps coming from somewhere beyond. The possibility of a non-violent escape was gone now, and she knew it would be disastrous to let them catch her. She recognized the promise in the growls and barks of the pursuing males, and shivered at the eagerness in the female's cry. They meant business. She darted through the foliage, cutting her feet on numerous salmonberry thorns and bruising long, dark legs on more than one fallen cedar. It was tempting to try and glance behind her. More than anything Noble hated hearing others chase her without being able to see them. How close were they? Had any joined with the trio behind her? Eventually she came to an enormous red-cedar that could not be cleared with a single jump and Noble fairly whined at the barrier. She frantically glanced left and then right down the length of the fallen behemoth. It stretched far out of sight in both directions and the pack of enraged Pines' wolves were closing in. With a desperate wail Noble threw herself at it, digging in with teeth and claws to drag herself over the fallen tree. for reference, Noble is trying to climb over a fallen tree this big RE: Hit me with your flashbulb eyes - Iopah - Nov 05, 2015 One more post from each Koda and Eirian, and then I will make one more Iopah post (to make the required 3 for her) and archive it for us. [dohtml] The dark thief might have been skinnier than any of them and emaciation was usually an indication of weakness, but the girl had terror on her side today. It was the only thing that kept her ahead of the enraged and snapping wolves. Iopah dashed up to the fallen cedar just as the girl clawed to the top and onto relative safety. Only one attempt was made to follow the same way. The Reinier woman was determined, but not nearly as tall and she couldn't reach a foothold to heave herself over with. She slid back harmlessly and stared up at the would-be-thief with a growl punctuated by panting. Noble looked down with a whine and jumped down on the other side with the massive tree now between them. The sound of the thief running away on the other side spurned Iopah to act. Both @Koda and @Eirian were taller than her, perhaps either of them could jump high enough to go directly over the tree, but she could not. With a huff, Iopah turned on her heels and raced along the length of the tree. Eventually the tree's trunk would narrow and she would be able to climb over the tree where it was narrower. "Make her sorry for this!" She shouted back to the two males. It was one thing to have this thief running now, but the Pines' wolves had to put enough fear into the girls heart to make her never do it again. Iopah thundered the length of the tree, waiting for it to get low enough for her to cross over and continue her own chase. |
