Faolán had first become aware of the pups upon meeting Indru. Back then he had been too occupied with submitting to the more dominant male to ponder on the idea of younger pack mates being around. But now that he had officially been accepted into the Swift River ranks, excitement and curiosity got the better of him. The young male had no experience with pups; he and his siblings had always been the youngest. The thought of interacting with the newest additions to the pack filled him with delight – perhaps finally he would find company in someone that was too small and inexperienced to judge. To them he would simply be a play-thing, he was sure. Play was something the young male missed and so he found himself compelled to wander cautiously towards the entrance of the den where he could smell the scent of the pups and their mother inside. Amber eyes peered into the darkness as his nose slowly reached out sniff softly at the crumbling dirt walls. A small yip echoed against the den walls as he waited anxiously, hoping that it would not be their mother who he had gone and disturbed. Swift River Pack Thread - Marsh - Sep 08, 2011 Swift River was going from strength to strength. Marsh, it seemed, hadn't been the last to return - and not the last to join afresh. The scent of a newcomer, accepted by Indru, was already around the lands, and Marsh was curious to meet this submissive-smelling male. Swift River Pack Thread - Faolán - Sep 08, 2011 [dohtml] His call for play seemed to go unnoticed as the echoes slowly subsided into silence. He had hoped that a pup would have squeaked in reply but now he stood, thoroughly disappointed, with his tail dangling meekly at his heels. He sniffed the den again. Perhaps the pups were asleep. He had been about to investigate further when a low growl struck his ears, causing his knees to buckle instantly into a crouch. Large ears fell back slowly as his tail curled tightly between his legs. Someone had spotted his intrusion on the den and he turned around slowly to stare at the large paws that stood firmly behind him. He kept his eyes downcast, needing no facial recognition to confirm that he was now being confronted by a much more dominant individual. His muscles tensed and a loud whine left his lips as he once again resorted to a wry toothy ‘grin’. ”S-sorry!” Swift River Pack Thread - Marsh - Sep 08, 2011 Fortunately, the pups hadn't been disturbed - though it would have taken more than a yip to awaken them, their previous play session had gone on so long. Marsh knew he didn't have nearly that much energy anymore, and it had been a relief when they had agreed to sleep. Swift River Pack Thread - Faolán - Sep 08, 2011 [dohtml] Faolán kept his eyes trained on the male, watching all limbs carefully for any signs of sudden movement. Amber eyes skimmed along the stiff height of the male’s tail and immediately felt overwhelmed with anticipation and fear. His vision blinked up to quickly capture a pair of forward-facing ears. It was those ears along with the stiff movement of the dominant individual that had the young male reeling; signs of aggression were not easily missed by Faolán. The young male dared not to move for fear that if he did the punishment would only come sooner. Instead his eyes dropped back down to the floor and his fur flattened to make him appear all the more small and insignificant. He had no intention of harming the young pups, but then, this male had no way of telling that – and so, he was obliged to protect the pups from harm. As seconds ticked by, locked in a state of high tension, Faolán attempted to step away from the den and abandon his curiosity. Movements were slow and exaggerated as he cautiously tip-toed forwards out of the way – but it seemed he wasn’t moving fast enough! The male lunged and grabbed at the young male’s ankle, sharp fangs grazing firmly against his tender skin. Faolán flinched and immediately yanked back his leg, releasing a loud yelp as he struggled to break free. A loud growl silenced him, but he was released all the same – left to scamper off, as fast as his legs would carry him. He didn’t dare glance back; scared that, who ever the male was, wouldn’t be so forgiving next time. The black Tainn should not be bored, but he was. He had scouted the good part of the morning all alone, and felt so bored he felt tired, sleepy. Or maybe he just felt older, and worn out by all the comings, and goings. His paws shuffled along the ground, his ears not up, but flatted backward. He should be doing something productive, but he really was just lonely and not in the greatest of spirits. His lips tug down in a frown, and he heaves out a loud puff of air agitated with himself. His black paws slowly drag him back to the den, and he hopes to escape the hot sun before returning back to check the Grove once more. Swift River Pack Thread - Indru - Sep 09, 2011 Triell. D: Shuffling footsteps were the first thing to alert Indru to another's presence, the scents of his family hung so thick here and fresh sometimes it was hard to know when someone was nearby or had just passed through. He rose his head from his paws and watched as Triell walked towards him, the leader's tail waving along the ground as he did so stirring up dust and debris. Without word his brother laid down beside him and rested his dark head on the ground much like he had before and Indru whined curiously, his ears perked as he waited for a response. |
