bwp: quarrelings - Spirit of Wildwood - Jan 30, 2016 Tag for @Wraith. Anybody else is welcome!
[dohtml] Helga and Lucious had broken off from the rest of the herd early. Amara's bitching had been too much for either one of them to bear any more, and so the pair had stayed behind while the others had moved further north. They were smaller than their larger siblings and cousins, and from the scouts' reports of their previous trips into Relic Lore, they knew that the going only became more difficult the further north they went. The meadow, though, that was easy. Although it was covered with snow, the ground was fairly flat and the pair of pigs had delighted in running through the snow, leaving deep trails in their wake. That day, they were busy rooting around the northeastern section of the meadow, where the grasses were interrupted by strange looking trees with long branches that fell down to the ground. They were mostly bare now, but Helga and Lucious had still managed to find enough to scavenge on beneath their roots. "Oy! Watch where you're going!" Lucious snapped at Helga as the smaller female got too close to where he was rooting under a tree root that was slightly raised above the ground. Helga snorted at him indignantly, but moved further away to find her own roots to scavenge through, out of Lucious' sight so he couldn't steal it. Lucious is eating at the base of a willow tree, right next to the meadow. Helga is moving into the forest and is no longer in Lucious' sightlines.
RE: bwp: quarrelings - Wraith - Jan 31, 2016 OOC: Calling Willow Ridge wolves! <3 @Ylvy maybe, too? :D The sun overhead gleamed brightly off the snow, forcing Wraith to keep to the willows as he tracked around the borders of pack territory. A cryophilic as he was, he preferred the shade offered by the trees considering his dark coat soaked up sun far too easily for his liking. Since joining Willow Ridge, the male had met quite a few of the members, but hadn't connected with many as thoroughly as he had with Craw. But his pale furred friend had been off doing other things lately and Wraith knew he could busy himself with other matters on his own rather than bug him. In all honesty, the black brute hadn't expected to find anything on his border-scouting, but found himself surprised when a thick, musky scent practically barreled into his nose. The wolf's head shot up, ears pricked forward with intense interest. Up ahead, clearly visible trough-like tracks could be seen through the snow heading off towards the meadow. Stepping into the tracks of cleared snow, Wraith trotted off to investigate. He didn't have to travel far until he found the source and could already sense trouble. He'd never seen such animals before, but the strength of their scent gave him cause to be wary enough not to leap into chasing the pair off on his own. Should he find Craw after all? Wraith shook his head a bit as he thought. No, no. Craw wasn't the only one he could turn to. He was part of a pack, even if he hadn't fully integrated just yet. The wolf lifted his muzzle towards the sky, letting loose a baritone summoning howl to alert the pack. Perhaps if enough of them came, they could even take the animals down. It was their fault for crossing their pack lines anyway. RE: bwp: quarrelings - Yvly - Jan 31, 2016 [dohtml] Wouldn't miss this thread for anything :P The decision to venture south down towards the willows had been made unconsciously, and the tawny female had found her paws swiftly taking her across Grizzly Hollow's border one morning while she had ben idly wandering around. It didn't take her long to make the trip, even though she stopped now and then to marvel at the beauty around her. While she may not appreciate the chilliness and hunger that came with winter, she could see the charm in the snowy world she currently resided in. But no matter how pretty winter could look, she was definitely not a cryophilic wolf, and would much rather live in a perpetual summer. Bypassing the frozen marshland after checking to see if her darkly furred friend wasn't skulking around on the ice, Yvly set her sights on the willows. She wouldn't go too close to Willow Ridge's borders, wanting to keep at least some distance between her and the 'rival pack' as to not disturb the 'peace'. Hopefully she would cross paths with Wraith, but if not there was always the opportunity to hunt something and bring it back to ass to one of the pack's caches. However, the tranquilness of her trip was broken when a howl for assistance from the pack reached her. Tawny ears perked up at the danger warning, and the familiarity of the howl. Now prowling instead of idly trotting, the tawny female made her way to the source of the cry. Before she was even close a pungent smell plagued her senses and she recoiled, lips pulling back disgustedly. It reeked of a thick, musky scent that had her hackles raising. She hadn't come across a creature such as this before, but she wouldn't be deterred, and so she prowled forwards until said creature was in her sights. It looked absolutely hideous, and she couldn't help but gag slightly as the scent became stronger. Not wanting to disturb the creature as it rummaged around in the roots of one of the many willow trees, Yvly backed up, looking for a way around it so she could meet up with the wolf that had raised the alarm. Slinking to a neighbouring willow tree, the tawny female kept one eye and ear on the creature, hoping it wouldn't notice she was there so she could bypass it without any problems. But for all she knew it had already spotted her, and so with bated breath she crawled out from behind the tree, slowly and carefully making her way past it and towards the wolf. Yvly Doramor
imagine we are higher than the arrows, casually we're breathing with the pharaohs, tragically we fall just like the arrows. RE: bwp: quarrelings - Morganna - Feb 03, 2016 @Skoll @Nicolò @Elettra @Adele @Craw @Enoki @Renier @Hecate @Isuni @Hestia @Greer @Sven
Bacon anyone? Paws scratched away at frozen earth, attempting to excavate a new hole worthy of storing the fur and bones that was once a rather skinny hare. The creature was probably taken by the cold, and would barely make a meal for one of the almost yearlings, but she wasn't about to pass up the bounty of the season. Even they couldn't afford to be picky under the circumstances. When @Wraith's thin baritone howl drifted across the territory she froze, hastily throwing the leveret into the shallow snow hole and roughly covering it over in favour of the potential feast her pack mate was trailing. A short alto howl replied that she was coming, and all those capable should join them. A half smile tugged at her lips, pleased he had not chosen to simply call for Craw but to depend on the other members of the pack to back him up too. She could only hope they would deliver. As she drew nearer the musky stench of shit, piss and mud assaulted her delicate nose. She had smelled this beast before, however it was not the same fine beast that had tried to gore Pierus, but judging by scent, two less imposing specimens. Spotting Wraith she moved to his flank, her muzzle grazing his temple in greeting. "Watch the front end, they're bold..." Even if she wasn't exactly certain what they were... RE: bwp: quarrelings - Niles - Feb 03, 2016 [dohtml] Niles had been home for exactly one week and already he was back to his old self. Well, at least, to some extent. His sister was still missing and his father was still blind, but he had come to remember just how easy it was to lose himself within the wilderness of his family's domain... how it was to be careless and free with an appetite for all things familiar and new. When he had risen from the Infirmary (where he had been using the now useless, paper-like leaves as bedding), he immediately set out to look for something. Once upon a time, when Isolde had been his constant companion, it had been their game. Whoever found the most interesting find, won. Just for kicks and partially in hopes that he would actually find his agouti-coated litter mate, he went in the direction where Isolde normally went - to the right. He kicked up the snow behind him as he went, his large and still cumbersome paws easily traversing over the frost. High and low, he began his search, skipping over frost-covered leaves and ignoring the spaces between the roots (he knew by now that there was usually nothing cool there no matter what kind of tree it was). He was about to start running in some random direction when an unfamiliar howl rang out closeby in the meadow, which was soon answered by his sister Morganna. His little game was almost cast aside before he decided that what they were in a tizzy about was most likely adult things... Boring stuff. The youth started to continue on his way but that was when he saw it. A grotesque face with two sharp upward-pointed teeth, four short and stubby legs, followed by a large round rump that had a skinny, reed-like tail. Niles made a face, his nostrils flaring as he half-thought to go after it. What would Isolde do...? He squared his shoulders and held his breath as he crept away. The thing, by guess-timation alone, was easily larger than him - and he was steadily catching up to his older brothers - and he would definitely need to tell someone about it. He stalked out into the open, his gray eyes searching until he found Skoll and Morganna. He cautiously nudged his sister's haunch with his nose, folding his ears back as he realized that the other man beside her was not Skoll at all. His jaw opened as if he was about to say something but he clenched his teeth instead. He needed to tell Morganna that there was something out there... and it was in their woods! A sharp inhale told of his anxiety as he looked at the two adults, highly oblivious to the other ginormous thing nearby. storm the castle, guard the crown; Niles spotted Helga through the trees and made a run for it... meeting up with Morganna and Wraith. xP
RE: bwp: quarrelings - Greer - Feb 06, 2016 [dohtml] When Greer wasn’t out exploring the neighbouring territories he was usually out patrolling the borders of Willow Ridge, snuffing around the edges of the border searching for trespassers or potential recruits. Not that he would be of any use if there were wolves lurking at their borders seeking out acceptance into his pack—he’d simply call for someone above him due to his reluctance to speak. He didn’t really care why or how they were at their borders—he just wanted to know if they would be an asset. The Ridge wolves were a tight-knit, loyal family and they would not allow anyone but the best to join their ranks. It was due to their pickiness that they were successful. It was as he meandered around the edge of the territory that he heard the call sound ahead of him, asking the other members of the willows to come forward. Confusion and curiosity immediately consumed him, driving him forward to see the obsidian male he had encountered only a few weeks ago. It obviously wasn’t a meeting, or else it would’ve been his sister or brother—perhaps even his mother—calling the wolves forward. Maybe a hunt of some sort? He grunted at the idea of hunting alongside his pack mates, but that was what being part of a pack was all about—doing things together. Another grunt, but with a shrug of his shoulders, he was off. He was pleased to see his little brother at the scene once he arrived. A rare, lopsided smile appeared on his lips as he affectionately bumped Niles’ shoulder before he turned his attention to what his sister and Wratih were looking at. His nose scrunched at the stench that radiated off the creatures; what were these foul monsters? Swallowing his words, he glanced over at his older sibling with a questioning glance, hoping she would shed some light on the situation. RE: bwp: quarrelings - Isuni - Feb 09, 2016 [dohtml] Though she had not heard the first summons, the alpha’s cry reached the subordinate’s ears. It was far off, and for a moment, the woman considered ignoring it altogether. Pack life had not been suitable for her, leading the redhead to withdraw – but even as she considered the possibility, she discarded it. Laziness brought a vile taste to the back of her mouth, and Capable shrugged off the idea. Turned about, the young female broke into an industrious lope, covering distance quickly as her long limbs stretched out into longer strides.
Several minutes later, she arrived to the site, finding several other packmates having appeared to answer their queen’s call to arms, as well. She recognized Greer, though not the younger wolf that stood near him. With a quiet chuff, she dipped her head to Morganna before settling near the youths, glancing between the wolves and the intruder not so far off.
bring me home, bring back what's stolen,

like you're supposed to RE: bwp: quarrelings - Spirit of Wildwood - Feb 14, 2016 [dohtml] Even if her brother was not interested in sharing, the forest was full of treats, and it didn't take long for Helga to find a tree of her own to rummage under. Barely had she cleared the snow though, before a bloodcurdling sound made her head veer up, pinpoint eyes quickly roaming the woods around her. But the howl had come from further away, somewhere behind her; oh no! As quickly as she could manage, the sow turned around, galloping back through her own tracks on short, fat legs. Despite her sizable corpus, she could run quite fine when she wanted, and it took only a few moments for her to reach her brother. Though in those moments another, and somehow even more ominous, howl resounded through the trees. "Lucious, look alive!" She squealed at the other boar, his head still buried between the tree roots, oblivious to the approaching danger. Good thing he had her to look out for him. This was them, the beast their scouts had warned them about. Lucious lifted his tusked face, grunting angrily at his sister, though the sight of her obvious unease made him swallow any more complaints. Instead he looked around, trying to spot the threat, large, muddy snout quivering. While he couldn't clearly identify the enemy, he was getting a bad feeling in his belly, and he brushed close against his sister, lowering his head defensively. A few anxious grunts passed between the siblings. "Should we run?" Asked Lucious lowly, but Helga shook her head, determination on her face; Between the both of them, they could take these beasts. So instead they turned to look in opposite directions, standing side by side, Helga gazing into the depths of the forest, while Lucious was turned towards the open field, only a few trees away. Round 2! No specific posting order
Alerted by Wraith and Morganna's howls, Helga has returned to Lucious' side and they are no bracing for attack. Larger Lucious has his head towards the gathered group out in the field, while Helga is facing in the opposite direction, standing flank to flank with her brother. RE: bwp: quarrelings - Wraith - Feb 14, 2016 Distractedly, Wraith nibbled at @Morganna 's muzzle on her approach, golden eyes intense and unyielding on the creatures in the clearing. His thick muscles quivered with anticipation in the hopes that his Alpha would give him leave to chase. He was aching for a good, challenging hunt, and by her warning, he'd likely receive it. Hearing another approach that bore no scent of the Willows, the stiff male rounded with a deep snarl in warning, ready to defend Morganna. The sound died in his throat when he recognized @Yvly (Crystal) and he blinked with confusion before his tail began to wag excitedly. Oh, now it was a game! As he had with Morganna, Wraith padded forward to greet his friend with easy affection, brushing his shoulder along hers and nipping at her ear playfully. "Thought you were some rival," he teased. "Wanna help us take those?" Like a guilty pup, the large wolf looked back to where his Alpha stood and offered a grin. "She's a friend. You're fine if she helps, right? She's fast." Looking back to the tawny female, his amber eyes danced with delight. "Very fast." Wraith didn't react quite so sternly when another arrived, recognizing the pack scent before the youth approached to nudge Morganna. This must be @Niles - the pup @Skoll had been searching out the day they met. The dark wolf's heart thrummed with excitement. A real pack hunt! And ah! Young @Greer as well. He grinned at the dark lad, glad to see he'd made his way from his lonely haunts in the woods. More of the pack filtered in including a rather stern looking female who seemed as ready for action as himself. Yes, what do they do now? Wraith licked his lips, tail still wagging with anticipation as he awaited Morganna's decision. Empowered by the arrival of Yvly and his packmates, Wraith is aching to sink his teeth into the trespassers and stands between Yvly and his packmates in case they take offense to her presence.
RE: bwp: quarrelings - Morganna - Feb 14, 2016 A strength to harm is perilous in the hand of an ambitious head. - Elizabeth I So focused on the creature before her, with its overpowering scent, she had dismissed the scent of cedar trees until @Wraith took off towards it. A low growl was thrown at the stranger, her stance tense despite her pack mate's easy way with the woman. They didn't have time for this. "Yer don' wanna let @Skoll catch the stink o' Cedar in yer fur." She offered a low warning but didn't move to chase the woman off. "Help if yer want, but get in my way and I'll take off yer ear as easily as I did that pack mate o' yours." For all she knew this stranger knew Piety well, for the last she had seem of the white wolf she was scampering back towards the arms of Rook Lyall and his lot. The warmth of @Niles at her earned a questioning glance. It would seem the boy didn't want to speak in the presence of strangers but before she could dip her head close enough for him to whisper (more a cant than a dip, the way children grew like weeds), the were joined by @Greer. Her tail waved to let her brother know she was happy to see him, given how he had been so scarce of late. (@Isuni)Capable came next, her wag only growing with enthusiasm at the sight of the larger woman. Now they were talking. Such a small beast on its own would have been easy work for the wolves but perhaps their racket had been too much for the creature tore from the cover of trees to stand alongside a much larger beast. Should they go for one, or take them both? Surely both posed a threat. "Yer say she's fast? Th' little one will be too. Bring it down if yer can, but keep it away from th' larger one." she spoke directly to Wraith before turning her attention to the rest of the party. "We'll take on th' bigger one, we'll have ter bleed 'im out. Stay away from th' head if yer can. I don' want anyone getting gored." Peach eyes rested on Niles with a confident grin. "You too. Jus' run along with us, yer big enough an' scary enough ter keep him movin, just stick by me an' don't do anythin' foolish." If he was anything like Sven, foolishness was a given. She was going to have her paws full. With a nod to those gathered, leaving no chance for argument she stood and used the cover of the trees to move forward. No doubt the early moments would be chaos. She sprung forward with a growl, aiming to drive a wedge between the pigs in the hopes that they would scatter enough to give the wolves a chance. Morg has directed Wraith and Yvly to keep the smaller pig (Helga) distracted/try to bring it down while the rest of them target Lucious. Morganna is trying to spook then into separating by running at the space between them, growling and teeth gnashing as she goes.
