RE: Sleeping Giant - Moonshadow - Apr 06, 2016

[dohtml]

OOC! Out of character comments here

One moment she had a mouth full of brown coarse fur and the next she was lying in a snow bank. Her world went black when she hit the snow; there was a hidden rock under the bank that her skull fell on. Voices filled her dark audits sounding as if they were a part of a dream. Her eyes slowly open as a groan escapes her maw. How long have I been out? She wondered. It felt as if she had been asleep forever but in reality it was only moments. Her vision clears and she sees an unfamiliar dark male standing over her, nudging her ribs and asking if she was alright. “Ya I'm alright” she managed before the re-realization of the situation.

Jumping from where she was thrown she took note to who was there and what they were doing. Namid, Vespertio, and Kajika were all charging from different directions snapping at its legs. Neha and Cernan were instructed to help drive the beast away. Her eyes widened as the bear clamped down onto Cernan’s shoulder. A protective snarl left her lips as she lunged forward. She was not going to let this thing hurt her new family. If the situation had been any less serious she might have noticed the gash on her right flank, adrenaline filled her veins causing her to respond as if she wasn’t injured. She fell into sync with her packmates darting in and out being extra careful to avoid getting swiped again by the monstrous paws.

RE: Sleeping Giant - Vespertio - Apr 06, 2016

[dohtml]

Tarnished teeth found purchase within the short black fur covering the bear's rear haunch, but his hold wouldn't last long as the tawny brute leaped back to a safer distance should the bear swing a pair of mighty claws in his general direction. Salmon tongue working feverishly to remove the strands of hair that now coated the inside of his jaws, spitting out what he could onto the pine needle dusted ground while molten gold gaze kept itself focused on the movements of his subordinates and enemy. One by one they took their turns sinking fangs into flesh, the pain induced roars evoked from the creature warranting russet hued ears to splay back in matched anger. A snarl permanently etched onto Vespertio's facial features.

Although, it was the sudden pale blur of his precious daughter charging into the fray that sent a chilling spike of fear throughout his entire body. Cernan, his youngest son, soon following suit with a hefty growl of his own as both children sunk their teeth into flesh. The level of fear coursing through his body spiked when the damned beast returned the gesture to his boy's shoulder. "We need to knock it over!" He shouted deciding then enough was enough and the tawny brute soared back into action. A feral rumble of a growl resonated deep within his chest as creamy limbs charged full speed toward the circled bear, fully intent on tackling and attacking the thing until it keeled over. It drew blood from his family and now it would pay with its life.

Jaws parted in anticipation of sinking tarnished fangs back into it's awaiting flesh, opting to aim for the open spot beside his son to offer a shield of sorts should the bear be foolish enough to try for another go at his boy. Not on his watch. Soon his large frame saddled beside that of Cernan's, a swift glance taking note of the position each of his pack mate's held in retrospect to himself. If they did manage to get this thing unbalanced he wanted to be sure nobody was at risk to being trapped under its weight. Moonshadow and Cernan sustaining the damage they did already was bad enough and once this was all done and through he would be sure to inspect both to see the full extent of their wounds.

RE: Sleeping Giant - Namid - Apr 24, 2016

[dohtml]

Thankfully her call was replied to quickly by her other pack mates, who swooped in from the trees and the surrounding land with courage in their hearts and ferocity in their teeth. Kajika and Vespertio both went to work on their foe while Kajika checked on Moonshadow, who seemed to come to with a little nudging much to her relief though she couldn’t quite believe her eyes when the young girl jumped right back into the fray with a noticeable injury. Without a certified healer within their lands, Namid knew that her own vague teachings would have to do after the situation was done and over with to treat the girl and any others who might have been injured. Her heart nearly collapsed, though, when one of those injured became her son.

Mismatched gaze widened as the bear’s teeth found purchase in Cernan’s shoulder, a heart breaking yelp escaping from the boy’s jaws and she fought the urge to run to him. It wasn’t life-threatening, and it didn’t seem to be anything major. Why the way he joined back in, she could tell that her largely built child would be just fine.

Auds swiveled to catch the words of her husband, issuing a command to knock it over. With the animal being a black bear, even a large one, it was still smaller than any grizzly and it would be easier to manage this feat. But, it would take at least two or three of them still to get to it. She watched with cunning eyes, narrowing in calculation and prancing this way and that waiting for the right moment to begin. Then, when the bear rounded with Vespertio’s distraction she could see vividly that this was their change. Eyes flashed to Kajika and Nathaniel, a bark passing through her jaws before she was surging forward. Even though Namid was on the small side of the medium scale, she was all muscle from her time on the mountain. And, her children were in danger. A snarl broke through her maw, followed by a grunt as she threw all of her weight and strength into the animal throwing some of the caution she should have had to the wind and snaking her way underneath to its hind-quarters, bucking up in hopes to get its hind-end down first so that Kajika could upset the front and Nathaniel could use his bulk to do the push. Then, it would be a prime opportunity for the king of the lake to surge in and deliver the final bite to the bear’s throat. She could only hope that it would go as planned.

RE: Sleeping Giant - Kajika - May 12, 2016

[dohtml]

Kajika was worried about Moonshadow and hoped that whatever injuries had caused her to go down weren’t too severe. He was glad to see that Nathaniel had stopped to check on her out of the corner of his eye as he charged the bear and wished that he’d been able to do the same. He had to help defend the pups, he knew that was his job and he intended to do it to the best of his ability. Kajika didn’t even understand what a bear was doing on their pack lands but that didn’t matter. What did matter was that they got rid of it one way or the other, it was too dangerous to let it go.
The first thing he did upon entering the fray was to go after one of the bears hind legs in hopes that it would either distract the creature or cause it to go down. It would be easier to deal with if it was unable to reach its full height.

Everyone as doing their best to inflict some kind of injury on the bear but he wasn’t sure it was having much effect. Then something drastic happened, one of the pups, Cernan was bitten by the bear in his shoulder which helped Kajika’s efforts to become fiercer. He also caught the sight of Moonshadow out of the corner of his eye, she had rejoined the defense against the bear. He was relieved that she seemed to be alright and resolved to check on her once the bear had been taken care of.

Vespertio’s voice reached Kajika’s ears and he couldn’t agree more with his alpha, they needed to take the bear down. It seemed their only choice and it was clear that Namid was on board with the plan as well. Kajika followed her lead and went after the bears front in an effort to upset it so that it would help get the bear to the ground and then hopefully the fight would be over and the bear dealt with.

RE: Sleeping Giant - Neha - May 18, 2016

[dohtml]

The pack seemed to swarm the black bear, coming in from all sides, taking jab after jab at it's hide with their teeth. Panting heavily, lips curled up in a snarl, Neha noticed that the fallen yearling Moonshadow, seemed to be alright. If not a little worse for wear, with an unsightly gash lining her side. She had to give the dark wolf credit though, as she so fiercely leapt back into the fray. Then one injured member of the pack transformed into two. Her golden brown eyes widened in horror as she watched the bear turn, sinking it's teeth into the shoulder of her beloved brother, Cernan! No, no, no! Her mind reeled, her heart threatened to stutter to a halt. And then her blood boiled.

If Neha Vuesain hadn't been mad before, then she sure as hell was pissed off now. Her youngest brother always seemed to attract trouble, and they have had many a close call throughout their youth. But this...this was too much. Blinded by fury, and beyond reason, Neha didn't double check to make sure her brother was okay. All she could think of now was revenge. For making this wretched monster pay for touching her brother and trespassing on their lands. Before she made another move to attack once more, the command of her father registered in her raging mind. Yes. Knocking the bear over, exposing it's underside or throat, would be their best option. It deserved nothing more than execution, now that the blood of her family had been spilled.

Maw agape, froth forming along her lips, Neha threw herself almost eagerly at the brown bear again. But she mustn't be reckless. As Namid, Vesperito, Cernan, Kajika and Moonshadow worked to knock it over, she too, would contribute. Taking up a position to the side, she waited until a mouthful of fur was within reach and struck. Her target was the fleshy shoulder area, where if she got a good enough grip, she might be able to manage to pull the larger animal back. But to have any hope of toppling it, she would need some assistance. This was a learning curve for her after all.

RE: Sleeping Giant - Nathaniel - Jun 05, 2016

[dohtml]

Frantically Nathaniel's gaze jumped up and down, from the battle swelling too far away from him to the downed form of his pack mate who had still yet to stir. With each passing second, the urge to leave her became stronger. After all, he was no healer, all he could do was assess @Moonshadow's condition and ensure that she got the care she needed after the immediate threat was dealt with. When he witnessed, horrified, the bear strike @Cernan, it was all he could do not to leap straight into the fray at that moment.

Then that vaguely familiar voice piped up, confirmed that the girl in question was 'alright,' and Nathaniel was gone from her side in an instant. A snarl that demanded attention erupted from his throat as he confronted the raging beast, positioning himself close to Cernan. Vespertio too was nearby, eliminating all chances the bear would have to harm the boy again. Namid's call reached his ears, and he followed without a second thought.

For a slaughter, all of their fangs converging at once would be a messy but quick end to the monster, but it also brought them all within range of its own sets of teeth and battering claws. Still, with the queen giving that final cue, Nathaniel could not disobey. He joined the tidal wave of pack mates to do all the damage that he could, first attempting to topple the enemy as his alphas wanted and then shearing all the flesh he could. Primarily he aimed for the tendons of the bear's back legs; if a killing blow did not come swift, he could at least cripple it to minimize the return damage it might do.

RE: Sleeping Giant - Cernan - Jun 06, 2016

[dohtml]
A single flick of his eyes told Cernan that Nate and Moonshadow had joined in the fray, and a glimmer of gratitude filled his chest. There was just too much going on, too much danger and action for it to be more than that right now. All of a sudden his father's voice cut through the chaos, and frightened as he was the prince agreed. He hesitated however, to follow through on the order, holding back as one by one the others began to throw everything they had at the beast, starting with Ma. Her battle cry tugged him forward; and then the pack charged.

The growls crescendoed all around, matched by the bear's fearsome roar. The young boy's voice burst out again almost naturally, becoming one with all the others. He had little in the way of a game plan. His hefty frame launched straight forward in sync with all the rest; emboldened by the mob mentality. The prince's attack came from the side and his jaws sunk into the flesh around creature's ribs as their bodies collided. It clearly hadn't been expecting all of them to switch from harassment to death match so quickly. The animal flailed; swinging its paws at the surge of warriors to little avail. One of them landed upon Cernan's back again; but it was already falling over and the child maintained his grip.

The strange mix of adrenaline and fear left nothing in his mind but attack, take it down with the others. The bear thrashed wildly but it was caught on all sides. Now completely taken with the moment; the pup shook his head in violent retaliation. It was down, and it would not be getting back up. The sound and feel of the pack all around him filled the lake child's senses. All he could see was black fur and blood and bodies; teeth and snarling faces. It was a blurred moment that seemed like it went on for whole minutes, and for once Cernan was in the thick of it.

RE: Sleeping Giant - Moonshadow - Jun 09, 2016

The frenzy was perfectly in sync, every one moving as one with a common goal. It was an amazing feeling for the ebony yearling; she had never been able to be a part of something bigger than herself. She was around the pup’s age when she lost her birth pack so everything she had ever known was either as a child or by herself. Vespertio’s command was simple: take it down.

The young girl assessed where her chomping jaws would be of best use. Seeing an opening on the bears upper back Moonshadow leaped up and attached to its shoulder. Her jaws became filled with black coarse fur and the metallic tang of blood.  The force of her movements along with those of the pack caused the bear to fall.

It hit the ground with a hard thud landing on its stomach. It was unable to catch itself because it had been too preoccupied with trying to catch another FTC wolf in its monstrous claws. It struggled against the pack but it was no use, its misery would soon be over. The midnight yearling let go of the bear only to continuously bite at its back, shoulder, and arm. Adrenaline filled the girl and kept her blissfully unaware at the gaping gash on her flank. The only thing that would stop her attack would be the voice of her alphas and even then she might get one more bite in for hurting Cernan.

RE: Sleeping Giant - Vespertio - Jun 12, 2016

[dohtml]

Like a well oiled machine the pack came together and worked as one solidified unit to deal with their enemy at hand, each member taking any available opportunity to sink their fangs into the flesh of their enemy in order to bring the beast down. It was hard work but eventually their combined efforts had been greeted with a step closer toward ending this ordeal, the ebony body of the bear falling forward toward the ground with a cloud of dust and pine needles spraying every direction in the wake of the massive body tumbling to the ground.

A ferocious growl erupted from the agouti patriarch's chest with the new development unfolding, his taste buds already beginning to taste the metallic tang of fresh spilled blood on his tongue. Oh how sweet that blood would taste in his mouth after this creature dared to hurt not only one of his subordinates, but one of his children too. Charging in, Vesper parted his jaws to clamp down firmly on a forearm pinned beneath the bears own body, a product of trying to catch itself which ultimately failed. Harder and harder the male bit down, sinking the points of his teeth through flesh until finally his tongue was met with the crimson liquid.

A mighty roar erupted from the bear as the pack one by one sunk their teeth into its flesh, molten gold irises cast sideways to meet whomever came forth to occupy the space at either side of him. Now was as good a time as any for someone to go for the kill. This had gone on long enough.

RE: Sleeping Giant - Namid - Jun 14, 2016

[dohtml]

Everyone converged on the beast, a feeling of family and mutual outrage at the beast’s attack on one of their youngest driving them into a near frenzy. Still, it seemed they were all able to keep their heads and listen to commands successfully. One by one, they attacked weakening its defenses until, finally, with a ferocious attack from her husband, the animal was toppled with a roar. As the rest of them surged into on it to restrain the beast, Namid held back. It was her duty, as both as the alpha and as a royally peeved mother, to end the predator that had wreaked so much havoc on their home’s life. She waited, pacing with bared fangs and snapping teeth for the right moment, the right time to do the deed.

Then, the bear turned it’s head too snap at a wolf.

The pale queen moved in a flash of pale lightning, jaws gaping wide then snapping closed around its throat. Auds laid back as she clamped down, a strangled roar escaping their foe’s jaws as it struggled against them. She jerked and twisted, claws digging into the earth to avoid being thrown as even in its state it was still a force to reckoned with. Stay strong, hold fast, she silently commanded everyone, praying they would hold its fore legs down to keep it from maiming her. Holding steady in her own resolve she remained clamped, jaws not budging an inch even when an ache began to set in. Finally, the bear began to tire. Blood coated her creamy muzzle and ran down her chest, snorting to relieve the liquid from her airways. Death was not pretty, it was gory and they all knew it. Then, with a final groan it laid still. A wheezing breath was taken in and out, then not another was given after that. They had won the battle, but perhaps not the war. There was always the chance of another bear finding its way into their lands, as well as another enemy regardless of species. This was a lesson for them to all always be aware of their surroundings.

Releasing her hold she stepped back, adrenaline slowing down in her body and allowing her to feel a sudden drowsiness. But, she had other matters to attend to. “Good job everyone, it was a marvelous battle and I am proud of the work we did as a unit. Cernan, Moonshadow, you will be coming with me to the infirmary where I will tend to you as well as anyone else who needs the attention,” she instructed, moving over to the girl and allowing her to lean against the queen if she needed. “The rest of you, Vespertio will help you take what you can from the beast then dispose of the carcass. I do not want it stinking up the territory more than it already has,” she ordered, turning her mismatched gaze to her husband. A small smile cracked the commanding visage she had taken on in that moment, letting her husband know that she was glad that he was alright. Cernan was far too close for comfort to her, she didn’t know what she would do if anything serious happened to any of them. She didn’t even want to fathom it. Turning, she led the pair to the infirmary for treatment before any nastiness could set in from the attacks.
