Ringside - Jynx - Apr 09, 2016 Private for @Gent Late morning. Patchy snow. 38*F, 7*C [dohtml] It was time for a slight shift in gears. Everyone knew it, and Jynx Dirol was no exception. With her Leaders expecting their very first litter, the newly formed pack would need extra protection, come time when the cubs were born. Moraxia had already been injured by the Grizzly bear they had driven away, when claiming their home. And the intruding boar had been a different kind of threat altogether, but was still no less dangerous. Jynx had been well informed of the requirement, that training in the art of mock fighting, was a must, when she had joined Round Stone Crest. If she was to succeed in becoming a hunter, then she had to acquire the skills to appropriately defend herself against prey that would fight back. And, other wolves that the pack would perceive as a threat, which sooner or later, would happen. As she trailed through the thickly spaced fir trees, the heavy white snow that poured down from the sky was a reminder that winter was not over yet. Casting a bland look to the clouds, she prayed that this would be the last snowfall of the season. She wanted to see the land come alive again, full of the greens of life. Her spine and crown dotted with a thin dusting of snow, she made a pass by the communal den, only to find it empty. She moved on for a little bit longer, back into the deep trees. Figuring that she was far enough away not to cause any commotion should a spar ensue, she lifted her head and let out a short, single note for one wolf only. It was time to train. RE: Ringside - Gent - Jun 04, 2016 [dohtml] As Jynx's call filtered through the boughs of the snow dusted trees, Gent did not hesitate to swerve his gait in order to meet it. Already he had come to develope a certain degree of respect for the younger woman, her composure and attitude more advanced than usually good be found in others of her age. She was most definitely proving to be a good find for the pack, and he hoped dearly that she would show herself to be loyal as well. Thus, he would not think twice to put pause on his own work if he was needed; she would not bother him with just any trifling matter, he trusted. When she came into view, a friendly wuff was issued in lieu of a verbal greeting. His pale eyes swept over the surroundings, seeking information and gleaning little. So they landed inquisitively upon her dial, acknowledging that the answers as to why she had called would have to come from her directly. "Anything I can help with, Jynx?" he prompted, tail falling into an easy sway behind him. His posture was relaxed, with that jet black eminent crown of his held at its natural height. RE: Ringside - Jynx - Jun 21, 2016 Time to get this underway! [dohtml] The matter for which she now sought out Gent, was indeed, not one to be taken lightly. Shortly after her acceptance into the pack, she had been briefed on the general rules and expectations which applied to all wolves. One of which was ensuring that the fighting skills of all members were up to par. Jynx was certain that either Raela or Gent could have assisted her in the task of refining these skills. But the mammoth male was one which she had spent the least time with of the two so far. Plus, with his larger size dwarfing her more slender frame, she wanted a true challenge. for my own notice: fight request
As always, the young woman was extremely well mannered, and did not disappoint in swiftly offering up what it was she wanted from him. That his subordinates were taking the initiative to seek him out for their testing was highly pleasing to the king. It helped too that she made it clear she wanted this not just for her own safety, but for that of the pack's. This was exactly the kind of wolf they needed within their ranks. Gent's head dipped briefly in acknowledgement of Jynx's words, and a small smile shaped his lips. "Aren't you just full of wonderful things to say," he commented good naturedly, before shaking out his pelt; loosening his muscles. "This goes pretty easy. Remember this is defense, not offense. Just don't let me get the better of you." It was the only instruction that would be given before he threw the heft of his mass forward at the smaller wolf. This first test was always the same, because it worked. Learning to fight and defend oneself was a path that could be likened to a tree, each branch linear before dividing but always supported by the trunk. That's where this had to start, from the ground up; he would not foolishly assume anything of the wolves in his care, for risk of missing something vital. He dropped his shoulder at the last moment, calculating his momentum to avoid harming the huntress but if she did nothing to protect herself, she would certainly find herself on the ground. |
