Golden eyes watched intently as the fiery orb of the sun began to rise above the silhouette of the distant horizon, the once dark navy blanket of the night sky beginning to recede to make way for softer hued colors that marked the arrival of dawn. Once tawny fur was illuminated in a bath of pale yellow light and the first hints of warmth adorned the skin beneath his thickening pelt in preparation for the colder months of winter, Vesper was on the move. Creamy limbs strode easily over the invisible, but heavily marked border of his territory borderline, once more in search not only for a female presence to temporarily fill Namid's former role as lead female that now held a vacancy sign, but to also escape the negative thoughts that wormed their way into his mind this morning. Memories of all that he had lost since ironically settling at the Lost Lake. Athena, the mass desertion by the vast majority of the pack's first members, Anthem, Aleister, Moonshadow, and now Nathaniel was freshly etched onto the growing list after word from Namid about his sudden departure. As to why their guardian wanted to leave after appearing so content here, the reason remained a mystery to Vesper. Yet again he was watching Fallen Tree Cove crumble before his eyes and the Vuesain pondered if he even had the strength left to save them from the fire a second time. His heart still bore the burns from the first inferno. Had his brother been right in saying he would never know what a permanent home felt like, cursing him by his words to such a fate?

A swift shake of his head rid such thoughts for the time being, unwilling to let the creeping sensation of his lungs caving in on themselves and the old habits of his past to take root again. He needed to move, he needed to work. Pine trees and their brittle needles that began to lose their green pigmentation and started to dry and turn brown gradually morphed into more fiery hued leaves the further his paws led him away from the higher elevation; a momentary thought of what it would like to live below the mountain instead of right up on it, only stopping once a coolness touched his toes and a quick glance down revealed that he was just a few steps away from taking a plunge in Bramble Falls, his distracting thoughts keeping his ears from picking up on the sound of crashing water any sooner. Molten gold eyes blinked a couple times, taking a few spare seconds to give his surroundings a good scan. He had ultimately left to search for a suitable tenant to fill Namid's vacant position as lead female, but where was he to start? Who was he kidding though, could he actually pull off such a feat? Only the unseen forces at work could say for sure.
