raising the volume! - Isuni - Oct 14, 2016

RE: Isuni, you accidentally uncover a chorus frog attempting to hibernate beneath the fallen leaves.
Open for one or two others!  Sunset, partly cloudy, 32F/0C.

capable
WHITESTONE MONADNOCK

She had stayed out, perhaps, a bit later than intended.  The weather was so mutable this time of year – warm one day, cold and brisk the next.  A flurry of snow, a thunderstorm, waking up to frost, any of it could happen in the blink of an eye.  It was only prudent to take advantage of good weather when you could; Isuni had been out to fill her own personal cache (there was some level of paranoia that could never be forced out of the wolf) when a hunt had led her rather astray.

So far off course, in fact, that she found herself somewhere where the wind whistled through the trees as long shadows fell, and Capable couldn’t help the small shudder rolling up her spine.  What a truly eerie place.

The redhead wasn’t exactly watching where she was going, distracted by the smells, by looking for somewhere to bed, when she tripped over a fallen branch hidden beneath the leaves.  It jumped up, scattering the litter everywhere; the earth around her erupted into a chorus of frogs, startled by their sudden exposure, and perhaps even more displaced by the biting chill.

“Shh!”
Capable tried to insist, squinting as she nosed through the leaves.  “Hush now.  You’re going to scare everything else away!”

RE: raising the volume! - Lorcan - Oct 18, 2016

[dohtml]
Once again Lorcan had been out that day searching for medicinal plants, taking the opportunity whilst the snow had briefly melted away. Though this time he made sure not to stray too far from the lowlands. This way he could pretty much guarantee that he return to the pack before dark and hopefully avoid any more scolding from Craw. Traipsing back through the Stonewatch Timbers, white paws scattered warm autumn leaves through the chilled air as he hurried along, not paying any particular attention about which he went, so long as it lead him in the rough direction of home.

As he entered a particularly dimly-lit area within the woods, where the warm glistening tones of the sunset struggled to shine through, his nose caught on to a scent that was all too familiar. Was he closer to the Monadnock than he thought? Snaking his way through the trees, Lorcan narrowed in on his pack mates scent, increasing his speed into a light jog as the red-haired female came into view.

Russet ears perked up and swivelled as he picked up on the frog’s croaky song, the sound only seeming to make the already eerie part of the woods even more unnerving. “Noisy, isn’t it?” He grinned, before moving in closer to position himself directly opposite her with his head held low in respectful greeting. “What are you doing out here so late, has Craw got you on another mission?” He asked curiously, voice lowering into a whisper.
